Here is the error that occurs:

Failed to open NEFT\Boot \mmx64 .efi - Not Found
Failed to load image : Not Found
Failed to start Noklanager: Not Found
Something has gone seriously wrong: import_nok_state0 failed: Not Found

I was able to get into the Linux setup once but it didn’t install and it shut off. Now I keep getting this error on booting my usb

Have you installed Ventoy on the USB drive?

wheat brook
#

No, I haven’t heard of Ventoy

broken gate
#

ventoy.net You just use ventoy2disk to put it on the USB, then you just copy/paste ISOs to the USB

spice geyser
#

yeah it is really convinient to use ventoy

broken gate
#

It only uses about 30MB of space and you can put other files on the drive

spice geyser
#

yeah, i use ventoy and it has been very reliable for both windows and linux

wheat brook
#

Alright, I’ll try that instead of Etcher

#

Can I get a link?

@broken gate do I just copy the iso to the usb or do I make a bootable image?

#

I got an error when I just copied it

broken gate
#

What error?

broken gate
wheat brook
#

Yeah it didn’t show that

#

My usb had its name changed to Ventoy and I copied the iso over. There’s nothing else in the folder

#

Verification failed: (0x1A) Security Violation

#

run ventoy2disk again with the usb stick plugged in

#

it should show the lock symbol on both the left and right sides, indicating Secure Boot support is enabled on the ventoy usb

wheat brook
#

Do I click Install or Update?

naive spruce
#

if u already installed wrong, u have to do Clear Ventoy from the option menu

#

then close it, relaunch it, and match the pic

#

secure boot and gpt on. then click Install

wheat brook
#

Do I have to set it to GPT after clearing?

naive spruce
#

yes, clear.. shut the app down

#

then redo

wheat brook
#

This is so complicated. Last time it worked flawlessly

naive spruce
#

it's easy. all it is is set SB support, and GPT.

#

if u dont want secure boot running, then u have to turn that off in the BIOS

#

otherwise u'll get a blue screen once booting the ventoy usb requesting u to enroll the vtoyefi secure boot certificate

#

https://youtu.be/CuonyS3xdwg?t=292 (4:52 onward if u insist on keeping Secure Boot left ON in the BIOS, will show how to enroll)

Same error happened

naive spruce
#

Failed to open NEFT\Boot \mmx64 .efi - Not Found
Failed to load image : Not Found
Failed to start Noklanager: Not Found
Something has gone seriously wrong: import_nok_state0 failed: Not Found

wheat brook
#

I see what I did wrong this step I’ll try again

naive spruce
#

this looks like some spelling errors. are you sure it says NEFT at the top?

wheat brook
#

It’s not, I copied from a picture I took

#

\EFI\Boot\mmx64.efi

#

import_mok_state()

naive spruce
#

that's probably cuz the usb was made with the MBR style earlier. thus it can't find the EFI for UEFI boot.. on GPT style it should find it no problem.

#

should look like this, including those padlock symbols.

wheat brook
#

It does

#

I went through all the steps the video showed up until reboot and it just booted me into windows

naive spruce
#

did u add a valid ISO to ventoy blank area?

#

after it copies over.. wait half a minute to let it rest. then reboot, and choose "UEFI USB device" to boot up a live system.

#

if the issue is AFTER u installed linux, that's a different story

wheat brook
#

I’m in the Mint boot now. There’s one that has an arrow icon that says “Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon 64-bit” and one that has a disc that says “Install Mint Linux”

naive spruce
#

yeah test your WiFi, screen display resolution, Sound jacks (all of them) before deciding if it is fit to install.

#

or if you're only on Ethernet connectivity, leave it connected so if u do install, it can pull any (perhaps necessary) third-party media codecs and/or drivers.

wheat brook
#

Did they change how you connect to wifi? I can’t find how to connect to my network

naive spruce
#

Settings (switches) icon in the start menu faves section.. then Network

#

if you Wifi adapter/card doesn't show up there, then check Driver manager but there's a chance it may be too new

wheat brook
#

Nothing shows up and it says I don’t need any drivers

naive spruce
#

what's the release to market date of the computer, or the wireless card?

#

if it's within a year and a half, get the Mint Cinnamon edge ISO instead, and test with that.

“Unmount partitions that are in use?

The installer has detected that the following have mounted partitions:

/dev/sda

Do you want the installer to try to unmount the partitions on these disks before continuing?”
