Could you provide the images again
ok so what is the issue?
i mean its just setting app to apply theme
myy themes icon are not applying just colors are changing
Show a picture of your file explorer
saying the application theme
the apps u see
is the icon theme the right type? does it have the right folder structure?
see my themes icons are different , only the colors are chaging , u can see the bottom color
if your installing them manually they go into the .icons folder under your home folder
ok
i am installing them from the app
ah
you can see , add/remove sectiion
then you should just be able to select them form the theme menu
and not just any 3rd party even the default ones are not applying
personally i like to go in and edit and mix and match and adjust themes 🙂
just to get the exact look and feel i want
u can see the apps inside the desktop preiview the apps are purple folder and my apps are just default
how can i change the icons?
well you can copy one of the icon theme folder and start editing the svg files and then just use the theme UI to switch to your copy
i did that changing some of the folder icon colors etc
shessh cant i just apply any icons i have? like i want to change the icon
that is if you wanna customize it even more
but normally just download a icon theme you like and switch it with the icon option
i just want the icons match the themes that is not matching like themes icons are not matching , so either u can help me setting just the icon or whole theme problem going on
i just want the icon anyway
well you really mostly that that ui to work with you can also switch the simplified UI if you wanna switch icon and themes that way
@marble hedge
how?
you right click the task bar choose system settings
set the theme and try restarting the PC
and then go into the theme option
it could just be a weird quirk
ah yeah maybe its stuck?
have you restarted since the install
also run sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
there is only pannel setting
yup
many times still no themes applied
okkk sorry
also run driver manager and make sure everything is ok in there, update manager, etc
likely unrelated to your issue but just a precaution
always a good idea
everythings is up to date ig
run the general update manager thingy even...
when in doubt update everything and restart 🙂
i have this custom thing
sorry so can you give me a rundown on the issue
like the theme you select in appearance wont change anything?
i updates two three times after the update because of the theme
the colors are changing
wdym
not the icon
so if you select e.g. a purple theme it wont change the color to purple
see the icons
What about them
it change the colors not the app icons
see icons are default
hm try deleting the panel and adding it back in
it could be cached somewhere or stuck somehow and just wont change it
delete the panel means?
i have seen colors get stuck if you change to some desktop theme options before maybe that it?
right click on the bottom task bar and find the option to delete it
think i had to reboot to get that to refresh and behave again
I think he wants the icons to change, the colors are good
although idk what the numix icon pack looks like
can you change to the uh mint one, the one that comes with all the custom app icons
i cant remember its name, i dont even have cinnamon to test with rn lol
delete the panel?
yeah there should be an option to let you remove it
naah not doing anytthing
you'll have to add it back in or actually, there's a setting on the panel
there's a setting on the panel that says reset to defaults
i already deleted it 2,3 times for just fun
aaah messed up the seettting , why i deleted the panel
terminal
you can reset cinnamon to defaults
how to use ? i am too new
rm -rf ~/.cache
in terminal
worst case scenario man, just reinstall the os. it could be that something went wrong during the install
if that doesnt fix anything, i suggest you re-flash the iso onto the USB.
💀
i've had it happen before a handful of times
re do everything?
hmmm... as a generaly rule its probably always wise to have timeshift setup on some extra disk so you can restor your system in case of total buggerup
yeah it wont take too long, just run through the setup
mean?
i mean i do everything again right? empty my drive and re-install linux mint
yes
it could just be that something went wrong during the installation
you got the iso from the mint website right?
hm
21.3 cinnamon?
hm
i guess hmmm.. and set up timeshift so if you do run into an issue in future you can alway restore to when it last worked
gtg coming back going for dinner
ok, try reinstalling it
make sure you dont move the usb around in the port when installing
bro ahh i installed the os two times btw
first time this was showing when i re-start after installing the os
second times just black screen
both i force shutdown and use it
@torpid forge
uhh, why squashFS?
I using ext4 when selecting theme stuff
what is that?
and this looks like the right menu
ext4 is a file system
uhm ? i mean the icons arent matching the preiview
can u give me installation or wot?
I did manual installation 50 MiB ESP/EFI partition, rest ext4
tell me how to install it?
when installing, there's a partition option to manually partition
Idk if squashFS actually is on your install or if you got a bad ISO
tell me how to verify?
sorry, I've never done verification
, however, I'm sure you find instructions where you got it
🤓 can u just tell me to how to apply those theme icons?
the theme APP
I don't know then, stuff worked without issue for me

i need a password for my laptop to turn on
not sure where that setting is in mint only know that one in rasberry pi os
