you can use Timeshift if you have the live usb

#

Reboot with it, click your hard drive in the live environment's file manager, plus (optional) a drive you saved the backup snapshots too. Then run the Timeshift application there and restore to target drive.

#
  • that's one way to do it and probably the easiest
#

other way is login where u are on that pic, and do some fiddling to restore/reinstall lightdm, uninstall sddm, then check if cinnamon-desktop is still present as a package, if not reinstall it too

#

then some magic to instate lightdm as the login manager, but i forgot the command

I am getting the KDE interface at the start ... I guess KDE is trying to load ..

#

I don't have a live usb right now.. Maybe I can try tomorrow to make one..

yep

#

if u wanna fiddle around a bit, login from that black screen if u can

#

then apt search sddm

#

that'll probably show it's installed

#

then apt search lightdm

#

that'll tell u if that package is installed or not

#

then there's a command i saw on Distrotube regarding switching display managers in syscontrol

#

i'll see if i can find it
