#Different Icons For Same Application.

if you changed the icon yourself, you will always get the one your current theme has. Like if you have one theme that has diffrent. AND the custom icon you set it up yourself. Then when you open, the system one will always show up.
So, what can I do?
well, if you want the bluish icons, try to find an icon pack that has simillar colors to your custom setup icon
Can't find one
What if I create one on my own?
then you create one on your own. but this will take some work.
Can you create one for me?
i can't, sorry. but i think other could, for some money.
no problem
this is related to desktop entries. Show the relevant desktop entries
they should be in /usr/share/applications or ~/.local/share/applications
Edit the desktop entry with a text editor:
Replace this with a hard path to the icon you want.
Icon=firefox-esr
Icon=/path/to/icon/that/I/want.png
.desktop files are typically found in /usr/share/applications/.
done already
Then please mark this as resolved.
But doesn't work
show your desktop entry
Did you relog?
On some DE, it takes a while to update. A relog will force that.
what is relog?
log out, log in
If you want to reset the icon you can delete the .desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications
You can set a different icon using the cinammon menu editor
Open the menu > right click desired application > properties > click the image and change the icon to a suitable one
I am ysing XFCE
i did one thing with vivaldi and changed the icon to netscape navigator and how i did that was find all the vivaldi icons (not from themes bc themes dont change whats shown in taskbar) and replaced like everything with netscape icon w all the dimentions and everything its super tedious and then theres the svgs and i dont think i even bothered with that i just figured out what was already being used so i can ignore everything that is there and not needed for me to change ig
there should be a simpler way but i couldnt find anything for me personally
@frail plaza There is a simpler way to change icons for an application, and that is to change the icon in the desktop entry of that application, which you can find in /usr/share/applications
yes i am not talking about that i mean it to use the custom icon EVERYWHERE including in the taskbar
I did them in /usr/share/applications but they didn't work
if im guessing correctly at what you want then this is what you have to do
