Changing the package only sort of...

Are you talking about a Mint/Ubuntu dual boot? That should work, you just tell the second installer to install alongside - or if you were smart, tell the first installer to only use half the disk in the first place.

Greetings Curunir ^^
I tried Ubunut in a virtual box and fedora and got to know manjaro (arch linux distro as you already know)
They all look sooooo fascinating, and I thought about having a dual or maybe even multi bootable system, I really would love to try all the other distros out aswell.

#

The good thing is I got a 2TB SSD and a few months old PC, so I read about something called Grub (which is a boot menu for linux or something of that kind...)

My idea was, to partition the disk (dowloaded Gparted) and then to install on 500gb another linux distro for the time being. I'd also like to install Windows 11, not because I like it....I just now realize how laggy, anoying, unsafe, bloated and UNCREATIVE windows was....but because I need some time until learn more about Linux and get used to LibreOffice(yes its similar, but still different)

#

I would have to start linux from live usb and than partition it, after that I could install windows, ubutnu etc... But they say, that with windows that's maybe not the best idea, since windows my try to access the linux partition? Since you can update windows from an earlier version to a newer one without losing all the data, I woundered if it's possilbe do the same with ubuntuu and linux mint aswell, since they are both "Debian".
So let's switching to Ubuntuu and a few months later back to windows and so on...

You must install windoz 1st when dual booting

I heard that Manjaro is the 'suisse clockwork' of the arch distribution

solid talon
#

A german linux channel guy said that Manjaro is awesome

solar jasper
#

And why would you need Ubuntu when you already have mint?

I won't to try the main ones out

Yes EndeavorOS he also mentioned, I think he's using it

Changing the OS without formatting the hard drive

That's the only way?

solar jasper
#

It's the other way around actually

solar jasper

#

Yes, I heard that one too.... having windows and linux on the same drive? Did you have a dual boot system ?

#

Why don't you like Manjaro?

I researched in the meantime

solar jasper
#

Also happens when updating with aur packages installed

solid talon
#

Something with SSL certificates

#

4 times in a row it expired

solar jasper
#

Also Manjaro has issues that don't exist on arch

solid talon
#

Have you had windows and linux? Or two different Linux OS?
In my case I could basically install 3-4 different OS

#

But I would mainly stick with Linux, I already get used to it. sudo apt install and there you go

And I mean making profit off the memes and the failures

#

They know how bad it is
Proceeds to profit off it instead of fixing it

There's also something starting with f, which downloads a lot more software... it's not downloading from the store

Flatpak

#

Linux is huuuuge, I think I'll probably never be able to learn everything there😅😂...but I really love all those distros, I don't know what all of their dis-/advantages are...but it's amazing. The Kernel is Linux and the rest is highly individual

EndeavorOS, I'll try your recommendation

Thx a lot for your help!
