i was dual booting windows & ubuntu and decided to delete windows using gparted. now my PC doesn't detect my hard drive. when i turn on my pc i get a "please install on OS" message. all my data should still be there cuz i see 80gb of used storage. how can i get my PC to boot into the internal drive or save my data by copying to an external usb and reinstalling ubuntu?

boot up the system with the live system usb that you used to install linux with. if it was Mint, or MX linux, it comes with a boot-repair graphical utility
if it's zorin, and it doesnt have that, then use another pc to create a bootable usb with either Mint, MX, or Antix, then do boot repair as mentioned . (it has a thing to reinstall GRUB fresh)
ah yes.
make one as is says.. 100 to 200 MB is all you need. can be near the end
make it Fat32
then apply it., and after it's applied, right click it in gparted, do 'manage flags' and add just the ESP and boot flag to it.
then re-run the boot repair tool

oh i see it.
do u have a ventoy usb?
also, save the file shown there in that path. copy it to email or save it to the working system drive.
u will want to ask cocogoat tomorrow about this.
in the meantime, u are best off to leave it, and use the computer in the live mode.
its a ventoy usb yeah
despite me getting that error message i tried it again and got the same error. when i checked the file manager i was actually able to see the files in my internal ssd
i copied them and backed up
then i rebooted my PC and everything worked
only problem is now it says im using 800gb? i know that is not correct lol
it should be the other way around. i should have 800gb free
w8 why does it show a 1tb ssd. i have 512gb ssd not 1tb. look at the first photo i sent its 512gb
pick the proper drive in the top right selector box.
mmc means memory card, or sometimes emmc which is soldered on in Chromebooks, Raspberry Pi's etc
the nvme ssd is always identified as nvme0n- something
you're right lol
how about backing up your stuff then clean installing?
