bud, I would recommend blank out the root partition . stretch it to the size u really want.
then set up new.
keep home partition intact.

if u have SSD, it takes about 10 minutes total
i can send a link too
its a file *

ik yall didn't need that and shity hardware ik ik
yup, mint cinnamon will do
you have enough power for it
you don't need mint xfce unless you want xfce desktop
Cinnamon on its own is really lightweight don't worry about it
it was for my usb
yes but keep a ventoy usb with mint cinnamon on it
and looks like you have a corrupted iso or something
no
do you have any important data on the mint system?
you can just then remove all the mint related partitions then reinstall mint clean
way easier than trying to fix the ESP
💀
Reinstall linux mint I would recommend you to go on the windows partition you had and make a linux mint bootable drive
well...
if ur iso is mint xfce, and u reinstall the root.. ur gonna get Mint xfce
simple as that.. but ur home files should remain where they are
if u do it right
You had anything on your linux mint installation?
no
this is the best advice, Anis
reel
why take the painful route of remaking the ESP, when you can just make a new ventoy usb with mint cinnamon then clean install?
they said they have no data on the mint system so, it's faster to just clean install. also they got the wrong iso
انس احسن شي انك تمسح لنكس منت و ترجع تحملو
Yes that's why i concur with what u said
no need to speak Arabic i understand English
@nimble bone if u have no files/ pictures/ whatever of value in the Home Partition.. just redo the whole thing as advised by Lucien
Well reinstall linux mint if you have any concern I will try to help you
- boot to windowz
- get ventoy and the mint cinnamon iso
- run ventoy2disk.exe as admin then install. then copy mint iso to the ventoy usb
- reboot to the usb and boot mint.
- use gparted to delete all the partitions made by the old mint install. keep the NTFS and windowz related ones.
- close gparted, then clean install mint.
- ????
- reboot and enjoy
is that too hard?
@nimble bone
i won't do that straightforward guy's sorry. feel free to stop helping me.
بارك الله فيك. رمضان مبارك لك أيضا
جيبي على راسي
الله يسلمك يا قلبي
please restrain to using english here
not being rude. just saying what you can do to fix this. it's not that hard tbh
understood
i know. I'd rather try to fix it first. thanks for helping
!translate بارك الله فيك. رمضان مبارك لك أيضا
but the fix is to reinstall.
@ripe geode agrees also
Translate, God bless you. Ramadan congratulations to you too
mhm
bad translation. it's not really congratulations
anyways.. im out of here
Come on Google translate you can do better
Goodnight
so do what I said
as a last resort
there's no other easier way. boot repair may or may not work. it's not a silver bullet
if i reinstalle it why can't i keep the home partition?
wdym
that would require you to do a manual install of mint
what does that mean?
I just chosed something else and deleted the didn't delet the home partition
deleted thr grub partition too. it had errors
do 'something else' option using Linux Mint Cinnamon iso
then pick partion for root
i see the grub menue
and pick for home
it booted yesss
wat did u do?
@ripe geode i did exactly that and i still get a newer install

I'll go to sleep and try again tomorrow
plz someone help
this looks mostly right except for sda8. Not sure why you need that. If the system boots as UEFI, then typically an ESP (efi system partition) is needed of 100 MB , FAT32 style. If the system boots as legacy BIOS, then you don't need sda8 at all, the bootloader will install to sda device as shown lower part of the installer. The Windows boot partition should have a 'boot' flag, set in gparted.
i have 200mb of uefi sda1
i mean it was 100 but i increased it
that should be fine then.. i'd eliminate sda8
it's probably confusing something. as for the home thing, it should work like u set it up in pic
Lmfao, I died when you translated مبارك to Congratulations
Ramadan congratulations
