i mean im sure it's just showing a x on a rectangle
and post results for inxi -N from terminal to here.
that model is late 2022, so prob needs a kernel upgrade to ur mint
Do you not have ethernet?
its just more convenient for my phone to be tethered
also its unrelated but for my hp laptop model ive looked up common problems with ubuntu and its like the speakers sound weird and the webcam might not work and the microphone mute light on the keyboard wont light up should i be concerned about that
the one i have isnt on the compatibility list if that means anything
You can try out the Linux Mint Edge ISO, maybe you'll have better luck with that one. It has a more recent kernel. The kernel has all the drivers.
is there a laptop i can buy that will just definitely work with all linux stuff and have no problems
Linux Mint is an elegant, easy to use, up to date and comfortable desktop operating system.
Of course, but try out the Linux Mint Edge ISO
It depends, there are a few different factors: Kernel version, proprietary drivers, installation process.
Try out the Edge edition for now
that looks not great that it shows no driver.. plus that also looks like Ethernet
right now i got an ethernet plugged in
u can likely just upgrade the kernel right now
run Update Manager, go to its view menu: view Kernels
it seems like hp doesnt even make drivers for linux
oh shoot i need a lot of updates
some might just be programs n such, not core things
from what I hear, HP has very good linux support and compatibility, just urs was made after the current Mint base/kernel came out
https://frame.work
https://slimbook.com
https://www.tuxedocomputers.com
https://system76.com/
https://starlabs.systems
All of these computers are compatible with linux, and they can all be shipped with linux pre-installed, with the exception of Framwork, but framwork is dedicated to linux-support.
how come they're only supported until august
also it seems my webcam and speakers do not work
same issue really. all the drivers are set up in the linux kernel
okay
long term support kernels get five years support, that's what mint ships with
interim kernels are written as time moves on, but dont have long term support, but u can update in a year or two
so will i have to keep getting those kinds or will the new long term ones eventually support my laptop
so ya, either reinstall with Mint Edge edition, or upgrade kernel in place as I've said
im gonna upgradee the kernel
alright so the wifi works and the speakers work but they're muffled and the weebcam is not recognized
these are common issues listed on my laptop on linux
the speaker thing u can maybe fix a bit
try headphones in a headphone jack, n play some song or whatever
im thinking of just getting a laptop that wont have any problems wit linux like dell xps 13 or somehting
¯_(ツ)_/¯
i gotta figure it out thx for all your help bro
the speakers u mmay just have to open alsamixer in terminal, n adjust playback volume.. or open Sound from the Mint start menu
