What did you do between the last time it worked and now?
i tried toreinstall ubuntu as it wouldnt boot and now ive just given up and wiped the whole hdd
im just installing ubuntu solo
when installing unbuntu on itselfs it failed too
"unable to instal grub this is a fatal error"
In the live environment, when booted from the install medium, you should have access to the Disks utility. Can you show us how your drive looks in there?
i uh acciently deleted everything
all data from the hdd and the usb
If you run an installer and tell it to use the disk, it will partition it to its default scheme, so it should be partitioned after you ran the installer. When it tries to install the boot loader at the end and fails, you still have 99% of that install on disk. We need to find out why the grub install fails. Worst case, your drive is dying or dead. Could also be your install medium that is damaged. Or some misconfiguration. But since my crystal ball is pretty cloudy today, you will have to tell us what you see.
