I’m having troubles with Linux installation, the error :

Does anyone know how to solve it?

Obs: I already have Windows 10 and I want to dual boot

royal nova

I tried that, it gave the same error.

@royal nova

from the manufacturer, it's set up as ON in the BIOS. Then when Windows is installed, it sets a driver for it. Changing it to off later on in BIOS requires a full reinstall typically of Windows and whatever other OS u want

#

^I'm speaking of Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) here.

dry sable
#

my bios is configured in sata operation for intel smart response technology, does this cause interference?

royal nova
#

idk about that

dry sable

Pc*

royal nova
#

oh taht's probably a good thing then

#

research 'intel smart response technology' then

#

it might be causing the issue.

royal nova
dry sable
#

ok, I'll do it

#

For example, I'm trying to dualboot, but if I wanted to completely reformat the computer, would this problem go away?

nah.

#

if ur Mint usb boots up in live mode that is good. U just need to figure out ur bios settings n do some research

#

the error messages you listed are having to do with the Ubiquity installer program having a problem with creating or setting disk partitions.

#

If you can make a partition manually in windows disk-management. (ie- shrink the windows space u have by 100GB if u have that, plus leave some left for Windows) Just leave it as unallocated space. Do not format that space.

#

then run the Mint installer off the USB bootup, and pick the 'something else' option and have it install onto that space.

dry sable
#

ok, I already created the partition and it still didn't work. However, now I'm going to look at these tips. I'll send you the results later.

@royal nova I managed it, but the problem was much lower. The real problem was Windows, which was 32 bits. I had to use dban to reform the entire hard drive and then be able to install Linux.
