#Can't boot when not in compatibility mode

Hi all, I'm trying to set up Linux mint for the first time, but I can't get it to boot when it's in the normal (non-compability) mode. It just gets stuck at the usb devices as seen in the photo attached. This occurred both with the USB I used to install mint (which I ended up using in compability mode) and with the newly installed Linux on my SSD. I've also tried booting without any USB devices attached and it just freezes earlier (photo attached). I'm running on Legacy+UEFI mode. I've also tried booting with mint version 21.0 but had the same issue.

Linux Mint version: Cinnamon 21.2
Motherboard: Pro B760-P DDR4 II
CPU: i5-12600K
GPU: Nvidia 1660 SUPER
SSD: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Disable Legacy+UEFI and try again. Just as a little measure to see if that may be the issue.

Additionally, make sure your USB Stick is formatted with the GPT Partiton table, not MBR.

Ty for the reply. I tried switching to uefi only mode which didn't fix it, and I'll need to switch back to windows to check the partiton table but I just used the recommended balenaEtcher program which I didn't configure at all.

Balena Etcher just writes the image, it doesn't change whether your drive is formatted to GPT or MBR.

Oh I see

#

Hmm it's GPT partitioned

#

Oh it might be because I haven't installed nvidia drivers

Nouveau gets loaded, and when that fails it falls back to software rendering

I think I fixed it

Ty for the help @mental mountain ! :)

They come with a newer kernel and tooling to make sure newer hardware works out of the box :P
