been reading and can't understand this problem at all
update your kernel
that should help fixing the issues
that's why I run kernel 6.5.x
you're on 5.15 LTS
while installing, error around amdgpu and reverting back to original kernel, rebooted and kernel 6.5.x is on but still no changes
I have 6 lines going real fast at boot that cant read
That’s cause mint needs a newer mesa version to run it
Idk why people think a newer kernel will fix it when mesa has all the game tweaks @pale glade
I just did a : sudo stupid-command-need-reinstall -y //// will run update manager //// please for the love of OpenSource, how do I get newer mesa version to run it
You don’t. You move to a new OS
.....what? Mint : 💩 for the 7800 ?
Mint is good but the only thing bad about it is the drivers are old and people think fixing it means adding a new kernel. No. You need to update the kernel and all things attached to it.
so, step #1 update everything or download another* linux iso //// brain is about to run away
Step 1 move to an OS that provides the newer mesa version. Ubuntu 23.10, arch Linux or Fedora 39
That’s it pretty much
k.
@pale glade so when the usb stick booted with U-23.10, 2nd screen pop instantly / so the card works / do you think Mint devs will update their mesa files ? // really love mint
After 24.04 has come out
Mint 22 will have the newer mesa
Although if you ask me……..since mint likes to call itself stable it should already have the newer mesa version
Last summer, tried a few OS, Mint is by far a friendly experience, even sent money to them. 22 is next summer, shame. I'm in your debt, I'll found something.
have you tried tuxedoOS?
debian base, slightly more updated than mint
looking at it , tuxedo have mesa graphics stack 22.3 and Ubuntu 23.10 have 23.2.1 .... Ubuntu better ? ( new at this and don't know )
then you may move to endeavourOS or fedora
tho if you're new to linux...
I deleted everything and running ubuntu 23.10 now
@pale glade the mint team need to learn how to properly enable hardware drivers (updated DKMS stack, updated mesa stack and updated kernel) if they are to become a main player
don't ping me, go to their github smh
lol no one would listen to me so
Just chatting
"no one" ... well, me. 😋

so, the term to look for in the near future is "mesa graphics stack 23.2.1" for future linux distros ? (should I close the ticket?)
Set it as solved
