My fps randomly just dips from 165fps to below 40 fps out of sudden randomly. and only reboots appear to be fixing such issue temporarily because it comes back every once and then is there anything I can do about it?
I am kde Wayland currently and my cpu doent have any intergrated graphics. And it's not stuttering it just dips and doesnt go back up until reboot

@last ice Does this happen if you just use an ordinary Xorg session?
Yes X11 is even worse in thee termss of laginness when that happens
Do you use Freesync or Adaptive sync as it's called in the settings at all?
monitor yeah it has adaptive sync and its always set to 165
currently set to auto
amd-gpu non pro driver
So you're not using the Mesa drivers?
Yes it should be, so you have overridden that by installing drivers separately?
no just default nothing messed up with drivers on my side
I see, you confused me with the amd-gpu nonpro thing
i think its RADV but most people on opensuse just call it amdgpu
So the question I would have is when this happens, is it actually graphics related or is it some other periodic task locking down your system, but since you aren't reporting stuttering that's less likely.
it happens whenever I switch from huge load to something light
So say when you close a game or something
yeah but I need to play it for like 2 h or something
so what can I do just set it to always?
I suppose it's worth a try, or never using adaptive sync
I'd also be curious if setting the refresh rate to something slightly lower does the same thing (say 144Hz).
I don't think there's any specific mesa packages that will help and I know openSUSE comes with the amdgpu firmware installed by default
so I just should set to always and see if something changes?
alraight can I keep this ticket for like 2 days? Just to see if that fixes it
alraight will let ya know if it fixed it
I have experienced similar but not this exact problem and it was quite some time ago so I'm unfortunately unable to remember what I did if anything
correct me if I am wrong but adaptive just changes the hz to the fps of a program?
Yeah kinda
@last ice How is it going?
havent happened yet to be fair I need to check it with heavier games gotta force myself to play FH5 I guess but if it hasnt happened I dont think so it will
