but what can I conclude about this number, is it somehow possible to translate this into literes for a real pin, or do I need to make my own proportions that look logical

Well, if you're trying to model it then scale the image to whatever you want ( say if the pin is quarter of a meter then make it 0.25 or something )

Alternatively, if you already figured it out you can try to scale it from the image to the new image ( with better lengths )
