If we're defining tetration classically (i.e., $2\upuparrows(n+1)=2^{2\upuparrows n}$), it's only defined for positive integer values of $x$ here. So $2\upuparrows2$ and $2\upuparrows3$ and $2\upuparrows4$ and so-forth are well-defined. But how do you define $2\upuparrows\frac{3}{7}$ or $2\upuparrows\ln(5)$ or $2\upuparrows\sqrt{\pi}$?
