So, I am going to be in a class that has you memorize Euclid props, and then present them. We are supposed to have the entirety of Book I memorized by the end of the class.
I have memorized all of the first thirteen props, except for 4, 8, and 13. I can memorize them pretty easily, I just have to understand them, and then it is stuck in my head. But I am having trouble understanding said 4, 8, and 13. Can you guys help?

This is the fourth proposition in Euclid's first book of The Elements. This proof effectively shows that when you have two triangles, with two equal sides and the angles between those sides are equal, then the two triangles are exactly equal. In modern day terms, this is known as the side angle si...

This is the eighth proposition in Euclid's first book of The Elements. This proof focuses more on the basic ideas of the Side Side Side (S.S.S.) theorem

This is the thirteenth proposition in Euclid's first book of The Elements. This proof shows that when you have a straight line and another straight line coming off of the first one at a point, that the angles formed between those lines will always add up to two right angles.

Okay, so.

How good are you with Cartesian geometry?

#

That is, geometry in the xy plane?

See, the reason Descartes invented this method, which is called formally analytic geometry, is because it allows you to convert geometric problems into algebraic problems and vice versa.

...yes. And understanding this method will make you better at geometry.
