It doesn't matter on which side you put them. If they are on the left side you can multiply both sides by -1 after which they will be on the right side

so could it had been +-(x^2+x) = x+2?
yes that would also work
notice that if you choose + you get the first equation and if you choose - and multiply both sides by -1 you get the second equation
is opening mod from one side and putting signs on the other side has any exception?
this always works. If you have a mod on one side and you want to remove it you can always choose on which side to put the +-.
But after all it doesnt make a big difference. In the end you will have to solve two equations no matter on which side you put the +- and the only difference between these equations is that one of them is multiplied by -1.
so both the ways are correct without exceptions?
