i just need help with the whole thing
Begin by drawing the triangles.
i tried it myself and this is what i got idk if it’s right tho
It's not.
Okay, call the height of the school y, and the closer distance to the school x.
Then we have two right triangles, one with height y, base x, and angle 64 deg, and another with height y, base x + 20, and angle 40 deg.
@pure wren
Yeah what they said
okay but how is the one with angle 40 degrees a right angle aren’t they two seperate triangles
...why have you labeled the hypotenuse y?
Now we know that we have two right triangles with the side we want to know about in common, that side being y.
And we know their angles.
So we use trigonometry.
so since it’s a right triangle do i use cosine
What do you mean "since it's a right triangle"?
it has a 90 degree angle and you can only use primary trigonometric ratios like sin cos or tan when you have a right triangle
...what do you mean "you can only use"?
Can you please just give me the answer to the question you don’t even have to tell me how u got there just the answer
