- Do not ping the Moderators, unless someone is breaking the rules.
- Do not ping the Helper Moderators, unless there is a conflict between helpers.
- Do not ping other members randomly for help.
- Ask your question and show the work you've done so far. If you've posted a screenshot of a question, specify which part you need help with.
- Wait patiently for a helper to come along.
- If the Helper has answered your question, remember to thank them with the Mathematics Ranks bot and close the thread with:

Feel free to nominate the person for helper of the week in #helper-nominations
If you're happy with the help you got here, and the server overall, you can contribute financially as well:
- verify that the sum of the probabilities is 1
- apply definition
$$F_X(k) = P{X \leq k}$$

Just for clarification: I assume here by f(x) they actually meant p(x)? Since f(x) is usually how the PDF is notated, not the PMF.
it's a discrete variable whose probability mass function is f
discrete variables cannot have density
Oh, no-no, I know. It's just that they denoted the PMF by f instead of p, which us what I'm used to, so I was quite confused at first.
I'll enjoy confusing the living f out of you with notation then
Pfft, we just had a conversation in the science server recently about how concentrations and other quantities are denoted.
4 people (including me) that took part all used different notation
