Which "number multiplied"?
I don’t get why they are smaller
...because what's the goal?
To find x and y?
How?
to be blunt, the standard method is to identify a variable being cancelled then create a linear combination of the system s.t. the variable can be cancelled
in simpler terms, they find the LCM of the coefficients of the variable wanting to be cancelled
you jsut cslculate it
I forgot how but ok
lcm(3,4)=12
so you would multiply the bottom equation by 4 and the top one by 3
Ah
find a multiple of one of the numbers s.t. it is a multiple of the other
In general, first you calculate gcd(a, b) with the Euclidean algorithm, then lcm(a, b) = a * b / gcd(a, b).
Oh yeah the little trees
or whatever
Though with these small numbers you can just eyeball it.
yeah that look good
ok ty
usually (not recommended!!!) you can just mutiply the 2 numbers together if they’re small enough and both prime
How would you know what numbers are prime
...I mean, if the numbers are both prime, then they're coprime and their LCM is their product.
...do you know... what a prime number is?
well yeah….
Then you can just... check.
I use to have one of those lists
my teacher gave me
and she like gave us all prime numbers
Okay, no.
to use on the test
well I think she gave up to 100
What is a prime number?

it’s a number that can only be divisible by itself and one
...a prime number is a number with exactly two factors; one and itself.
OHHHH
in other words gcf(p,n)=1 where n is a number and p is prime
unless n=p then gcf is p
(and n =/= p)
smart people
lol
Welp
