in what sense?
formally speaking, a theory is a set of statements
it's too much to type out, it depends on many factors
the journal you're submitting to
the conjecture(s) you're addressing
citations about similar works
it is very very rare that someone comes up with a completely new technique to solve some problem that doesn't somehow build on earlier works
naturally, first and foremost your proofs must be correct
