I need some pointers because I'm learning the basics but I haven't necessarily learned things like reverse chain rule that would REALLY help with first and second order differential equations.

  1. Ask your question and show the work you've done so far. If you've posted a screenshot of a question, specify which part you need help with.
  2. Wait patiently for a helper to come along.
  3. Once someone helps you, say thank you and close the thread with:
    +close

  4. Feel free to nominate the person for helper of the week in #helper-nominations
  5. Do not ping the mods, unless someone is breaking the rules.
  6. If you're happy with the help you got here, and the server overall, you can contribute financially as well:

the..reverse chain rule?

#

ohh you mean for integrating

#

learn the go to method for solving linear ODEs of the form

#

$$ y' + P(x)y = Q(x) $$

and things like

#

$$ a_0y^{(n)} + a_1y^{(n-1)} + \ldots + a_ny = 0 $$

can be solved with the characteristic equation

#

tbf for 2nd order you only need

#

$$ y'' + Ay' +By = 0 $$

if it's not homogeneous, then solve first for homogeneous case, then generate all solutions using a particular solution
