To my understanding, they seem to exclude 2 from the domain
although f can be extended by continuity, it is inherently not defined at 2
hence there is some sort of gap in your graph that is covered by continuous extension
the graph runs through the point, but is not defined at the point. The key is that it is not continuous at (2,4)
