Mark the vertices of the shape; say, A, B, C, D. That gives you four vectors: OA, OB, OC, OD.
Then, pick a number k > 1 and draw vectors OA', ... such that OA' = kOA, etc. Then the points A', B', C', D' will be the vertices of a shape enlarged by a factor of k.
