#How do you reverse a graph?

If you put a negative in front of y=x^2 you get the upside down view of y=x^2. I want to invert a hyperbola and ellipse so that they look opposite. xy=1 becomes somethin like a 2D shape and (x^2)/a + (y^2)/b = 1 becomes like two C's backing each other.

You're basically talking about splitting the curve in half and reflecting each half about its midline.
