For what value of p will this have no real roots in x?
yeah, it's something related with the discriminant
so I tried simplifying by using b^2 - 4ac but i didnt get a clear answer
What did you get for the discriminant?
(cosp - 2sinp)^2 + 4(1- sinp) (sinp)
Are you sure that the first term there is correct?
100%
tried this 4 times, got the same result
cos^2p - 4(cosp-1)(sinp) yeah?
Yeah
simplify it, you'll get this
Check your coefficients too for the bounds
wait
Actually, the question in itself isn't that hard
it's just phrased awfully bad
You can honestly also just plug in and check lmao
☠️ nahh dawg I aint satisfied with that
So it might as well be D >/= 0
But I think the p-values for which the discriminant is 0 are non-trivial
Don't you have the normal
cos²p - 4(cosp - 1)(sinp) > 0?
so that would just be Sinp >/= 0 ?
OHHH
MAKES SENSE
The answer should be P belongs to (0, pi) if im not wrong
Yeah
👍
how do u close
Lol
how to solve this
apply Log 27 base 3 both side
I don't think that's the answer tbh
WHAT
youll get value of X
Fill in the right bound
I CAN DO IT ON CALC?
? you haven't studied Logarithms?
Yeah
i dont use log on calculator
how do i do it
well do it on paper, it's quite easy
how
Rewrite 8^{-x}
i would prefer calc
3 can be simplified into Log 27 base 3
To the answer you know 2^(something times x)
btw 27 is one of the answers in the multiple choices
we aren't allowed to use Calculators here 😔
Where you from
egypt
how
Not that weird, considering x hasn't been put in
What is 8 expressed in 2^a?
2³
plug that in a calculator, you'll get the value of x
ok wait
fair enoughs gg
doesnt give me x
Lumberdude #LeaveWolfAsHeIs
I believe the answer is C
well, there is a better way to solve this, but i cant rlly remember the logarithmic properties ☠️
wait
Bruh I was helping them, why tell them the answer instead of giving them the joy of solving
Well, they use a calculator generally either way.
this gives me 1.584962501
right?
I'm pretty sure people dodge the values of Logarithm
yup
calling it joy is wild
@normal orchid thanks for giving me the calc method 💯
Now, apply the first three decimal values on 8^-x on your calculator
@untold pond has given 1 rep to @normal orchid
Don't use a calculator, just rewrite the 8^-x to (2^x)^-3, where 2^x=3, 3^-3=?
8^ (-1.585)
i did 8^-Ans
You'll get 27.00.. sm
Decimal points can be neglected if you use calc, so the answer will be C
that's COMPLICATED 😭
well, in my opinion it's a more natural way of approaching the question
you connect with the question and it is insanely gratifying when you do it and get the end result.
It is at first, better to struggle now than not knowing at all what to do during the exam
Anyway, I wouldn't want to hinder with any of your opinions, as long as you're satisfied with the result, that's all we all want isn't it (:. Cheers
the more sane way of approaching a mathematical question is by using a calculator
in exam i use calc lol
calc ain't pulling no errors
for a second I thought you were referring to caculus when u said Calc 😭
on that question
I was like why this person asking Calculus method to solve a Logarithm
im in grade 9 bruh 😭
You'll learn your exponent rules later anyway
yup
