Consider the vowels "a,e,i,o,u" and the consonants "l,m,n,p,q,r"; How many distinct words, even meaningless, of 5 letters contain exactly 2 distinct consonants and 3 distinct vowels among them?

5c3x6c2x5!
( Selecting 3 vowels from 5 : 5c3
Similarly for consonants
6c2

Then 5! For no of ways we can rearrange those 5 selected letters)

I think that's the correct ans

so if i put 120 it's correct?

It should be C(5,2) * C(5,3). In these types of questions keep in mind that the number of possibilities is equal to C(Number of consonants, Number of constants used) * C(Number of vowels, number of vowels used).

#

I used stuff like "number of constants" just for you to understand but this concept you can use in a lot of different questions.

keen fox
#

so the answer is 100

#

?

flat oar
#

Should be.

keen fox
#

i put in the system and it tells me that is not

signal wraith
#

My ans is wrong?

keen fox
#

nop

#

but

#

i don't know

#

i put 100

#

and it is wrong

flat oar
#

Try 120.

signal wraith
#

I think it's more than 120

#

Lemme calc

keen fox
#

ok

signal wraith
#

54000

#

Wtf

#

That's way too much

#

Lol

#

My bad

#

Did it wrong

keen fox
#

120 didn't work

#

may i do 54000?

signal wraith
#

18000

#

Try that

keen fox
#

how can u do that

keen fox
#

ok it was correct

#

nice bro

signal wraith
#

Do u know permutations and combinations?

keen fox
#

yes but i started it yesterday for myself and i need it to get into university

#

i am at the beginnings

signal wraith
#

I used that to calculate it

keen fox
#

i see, now i have the explanation from the system and it is like yours

signal wraith
#

Alright, just thank me in #helper-nominations ig

keen fox
#

you did C(6,2) for the consonants, multiplicated it to the vowels: C(5,3) and for pick up 5 letters u multiplicated all for 5! and so it was 18000
