sinh(x)^2 + cosh(x)^2 is not 1.
Oh wait yeah
It's cosh²x - sinh²x = 1 right?
Cosh2x?
Yup.
Many simple hyperbolic identities are just trigonometric identities with signs flipped.
Makes sense, considering how you can connect these functions.
Yeah that makes sense
The trigonometric double angle formula can be applied to hyperbolic functions too right?
Yes.
Hmm I've had another go at it but I'm still not getting 2cothx
Other than sinh²x + cosh²x = cosh2x which other identities should I use for this question?
Note that you can rewrite 1 as cosh(x)^2 - sinh(x)^2.
OH
I've got it
Thanks so much
