First, it would be better to isolate the expression with p.
3(6p + 1) = 4 - 1
3(6p + 1) = 3
Now try dividing both parts by 3, then expressing p.
@rapid relic Okay I divided each section by 3 and here's what I got.
1 (2p=1)
What? Not sure what that even means.
@rapid relic What do you mean? Is it the wrong answer?
Well, I don't even know what you wrote. We had:
3(6p + 1) = 3
We divide both parts by 3.
6p + 1 = 1
Now try expressing p.
@rapid relic Here's my notes on what I got. Can you explain to me what I did wrong?
I don't know what you even mean by 1 (2p = 1), to be honest.
That isn't an equation, that doesn't really make any sense.
@rapid relic What do you mean?
I did What you told me do? I divided 3 by all the numbers in equation. And the result 1 (2p=1)
I clearly got the question wrong. Why can't you tell me how I got it wrong. So I can correct my answer?
😕
No, that's not how you do it.
What I meant is divide both sides by 3.
3(6p + 1) divided by 3 is 6p + 1.
3 divided by 3 is 1.
So, 3(6p + 1) = 3 becomes 6p + 1 = 1.
Okay I got it. Thoughts feed back? @rapid relic
Well, not 100% sure what you wrote to the side, but 6p + 1 = 1 is correct.
Now try expressing p.
And how do i express the P? @rapid relic
Well, first of all, subtract 1 from both sides.
No.
How did the coefficient of p change?
We have:
6p + 1 = 1
We subtract 1 from both sides.
6p + 1 - 1 = 1 - 1
6p = 0
So, now you just divide by 6 to get p.
Hm... You really need to read up on how to do this. It appears you forgot nearly everything.
I recommend reading a textbook and doing some practice problems.
Forgotten? In my case its more like I never learned Algebra II until now.
I was doing practice problems until I asked you for help Darpinger
Plus I suck at math.
Oh. Well, then you need practice.
@rapid relic And a good teacher/tutor. When it comes to math, self teaching is a bad idea for me. It never worked.
That's true, yeah. A good teacher is always better.
No, divide both parts by 6.
What happened to 0?
Is it spposed to be 1p=0?
Yes. Though, usually we omit the 1 if we are mutliplying it by a variable. So, just p = 0.
@rapid relic Ty man for helping👍 . Especially for 2 hours.
You been a great help Darpinger. You have a wonderful day.
I'm going to have lunch and relax for a little bit. 🥪
