does the first one ask you to find the minimum and maximum value of the function in the given interval?

the first one you can do without derivatives

notice that x^2=4x=4=(x+2)^2

the minimum value is 0 at x=-2(which is in the given interval)

and the max value in your interval is at x=-4 and x=0

number one, should find maximum and minimum on interval

number two's use teorema monoton for find where's function that given up or down

third use teorema convexity for find where's function that given convexity to up or convexity to down

derivatives gives you the rate of change of a function at any x

IG the second one is just asking where the function is increasing and where's it's decreasing

if the derivative is >0 that means that the function increases
