You use the one that's relevant/easier to use
If you have a surface integral of a curve, you can convert it to a line integral
And ideally the line integral is easier to compute
when doing line integral I have to solve for every surface tho right
The line integral is over the boundary not surfaces
But yes, you incorporate the entire boundary
