to do this, you look at the first and last terms

then you need to find a pair of factors that makes a sum of 7
(2x3) + (1x1) = 7
imagine it in a table of pairs like this
2 and 3 multiply by each other
adding to 1 and 1 multiplying by each other
making the middle term 7
then look diagonally
2 and 1, 1 and 3
--> (2x+1)(x+3)
