My teacher assigned me a bunch of work but didn't explain how to do it, can someone help me figure out if I'm on the right track

Example 1:
(11-20÷ 5-13/3 + 8)×2
(-9 ÷ 25-13/3 + 8)×2
(-9 ÷ 12/3 + 8)×2
(-9/4 + 8)×2
(-24/4)×2
(-6)2 = -12

Example 2:
a³ - b²+c/a + (ab+c)
4³ - 3²+7/4 + (-12 + 7)
64 - 9+7/4 - 5
240/4 - 5
60 - 5 = 55

  1. Wait patiently for a helper to come along.
  2. Once someone helps you, say thank you and close the thread with:
+close
  1. Feel free to nominate the person for helper of the week in #helper-nominations
  2. Do not ping the mods, unless someone is breaking the rules.
  3. If you're happy with the help you got here, and the server overall, you can contribute financially as well:

Or would this be right for example 1.

#

I started a week late so everyone else got examples on how to do it and explanations but he just gave me the sheet and expected me to figure it out and I suck at math lmao

What you should do is first evaluate: (5^2-13)/3

native blaze
#

5² - 13/3 = 25-13/3 = 12/3 = 4

gray edge
#

Then you have (11-20/4 +8) * 2

native blaze
#

(-9/11) × 2 = -18/11?

No first calculate 20/4 division come first !

native blaze
#

Oh

#

(11-5+8)×2

You’re welcome

#

I think you just need to substitute in the values of a b and c

#

And remember the order of operations !

native blaze
#

I got 55

gray edge
