f(x)=b^x is just a regular exponential function, so when x=0, y=1.
f(x)=ab^x (not to be confused with (ab)^x) is the same, except a is the starting value. For example f(x)=5*2^x means that on x=0, y=5.

The image is partially incorrect. \
$f(x) = b^x$ \
Is simply a form of \
$f(x) = ab^x$ \
Simplified, where a = 1, thus it doesn't have to be written. However, it is correct that exponential functions can appear in both forms.
