Ya brother 👍🏻
yo u still there bro @tidal nacelle
ya so listen in first questionit is saying when it hit the ground means h=0
-0.1d^2 + 3d = 0
d(-0.1d + 3) = 0
d = 0 or -0.1d + 3 = 0.
ohhh
that makes so much more sense
an d then u just factorise
isn’t the second answer -2.9?
i mean
isn’t it
-3 divided by -.1 do isolate d
or am i completely wrong here
ya its that way becuze u cann't take 0 as a answer
btw are u guys allow to use calculators?? asking becuz i am curious
yeah we are
what do you mean by that
could you say the second answer making d the subject i want to see how u do it
in this line u cannot take 0 so d=30
When d = 0, it means the ball is at the starting point or right above the player so it means he didn't even kick thts why we don't take it
the question after that says when the height is at 20
do we just multiply everything by 20?
by which method u solving
any method is fine
quadratic formula??
answer may be 10 or 20
how did u work that out C
?
can the formula (x+b/2)^2 -(b/2) only be used when the coefficient of A is 1?
yes
oh that’s why
it looked weird to me
would u use the 4ac formula ?
and if so how would that work
well in quadractic formula u don't require to convert coeiffienct to 1 but if u don't use calculator stick with your main formula
d = (-3 + 1) / (-0.2) = -2 / (-0.2) = 10
d = (-3 - 1) / (-0.2) = -4 / (-0.2) = 20
d = (-(3) ± √((3)^2 - 4(-0.1)(-20))) / (2(-0.1))
yeah
quadratic formula hava -b at start
👍🏻
by the way
ya
thank u for taking the time out of ur day for helping me
i really appreciate it
ur a good person brother
Na don't worry i am free guy
ping me anytime u want
hey @tidal nacelle did i do something wrong here i feel like i miscalculated the value of b and A as i’ve never had a question like this before
on an unrelated note how do you do this question
First question is right👍🏻
So u know Graph of quadratic equation touches x axis at there roots
yeah
So here in first graph at - 2 and 1 graph of parabola intersect x axis so -2 ans 1 are the roots
yeah i know that but is that it?
is that just the answer
because it says give answers to 1 decimal place where appropriate
also
apparently
-y^2
is -y* -y
not -y*y
idk if u told me that or someone else
else*
i think it’s the negative one
because negative isn’t touching the x axis but if it’s 0 it has 1 solution and if it’s positive it has two x roots
thats what i learnt atleast
Well ya 👍🏻
