  1. Wait patiently for a helper to come along.

nhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

#

Does this help

#

(4, 1) is where the lines will pass

#

and you continue

#

our base is 1 unit

#

and height is 2

#

so by scaling up "-2"

#

it is twice as bigger and upside sown

exotic saddle
#

How do you know where to place the triangle if it’s twice as big

daring phoenix
#

you take the A B C point

#

A (8, 1)
B (6, -1)
C (7, -1)

exotic saddle
#

then what

daring phoenix
#

I guess you multiply with the scale it asks for the both x and y coordinates

#

take (8 ,1)

#

My bad

#

divide

#

not multiple

#

8/-2 is -4

#

hmm

exotic saddle
#

what about for the other coordinates

daring phoenix
#

thats what we are trying to find isnt it

exotic saddle
#

I don’t know how to plot the other triangle

#

If it was a different question

daring phoenix
#

It asks us centre 4, -1

#

cross that point and

#

I guess take any point

#

I will take C

#

then measure the distance of C from the centre

#

C (7, -1)

#

so the distance is 3 along the horizontal and 0 from vertical

#

now

#

we took the position C

#

I will multiply the distances with the same axis

#

7 x 3 and -1 x 0

#

that would be the scaled point of the C

#

oh my bad

#

hang on

#

we havent finished yet

#

after you found these

#

you will add these numbers

exotic saddle
#

Can you write it out more simply please

#

Like steps

daring phoenix
#

are you available for a vc?

exotic saddle
#

Not really

daring phoenix
#

okay

#

I am myself trying to solve as well so

#

ohh I forgot

#

okay

#

I am starting with steps

#

oh

#

@exotic saddle forget about what I was trying to describe

#

here a WAAy simple explanation

#

lets go by A then B then C

#

A (8, 1)

#

what is the distance of this from the centre point

#

same y axis but A is +4 from the point centre we took

#

now logic is this, if you want to scale something with any number, you multiply the distance with the scale number. However if it's negative scale, then you just simple change the direction on the axis. Let's continue

#

we found distance is +4

#

multiply it by -2

#

we get -8

#

I did not take the y axis because they are same for the A point

#

-8 means we will go "-8" units from the centre point

#

go left from the centre point (4, 1)

#

we get to (-4, 1)

#

Do the same to other points

#

B (6, -1)
distance from (4, 1) is +2 in the x and -2 in the y axis

#

+2(-2) x and -2(-2) is y axis

#

-4 from x and 4 from y

#

why cant I make it simpler

#

I will now

#

@exotic saddle just read these below

#
  1. If it is negative scale, draw a continuous line from the A B C point to the Centre then continue in the same direction
#
  1. Multiply the distances with the scale factor
#
  1. Add those distances to centre coordinates and find the scaled positions of the points
