#how does x^-8/x^11 turn into 1/x^19?

x^(-8-11) = x^-19 = 1/x¹⁹
x^a/x^b = x^(a - b)
x^(-a) = 1/x^a
wait, so essentially what happened was since I had to divide the two, you subtracted 8 and 11?
Damn I'm stupid 😭 ik you had to subtract exponents when it came to dividing but I forgot abt that part
