The time to dig a hole must be inversely propotional to the number of people.
No.
so?
Well, I should be asking you.
Well, did you calculate it or did you just guess?
No i guessed it
That doesn't count.
Suppose the number of people digging a hole is n and the time needed to dig it is t. Then:
nt = const
So, for two pairs of values of (n, t) we get:
n1t1 = n2t2
We know n1, t1 and n2. So:
t2 = (n1/n2)t1
Substitute n1 = 8, n2 = 10, t1 = 5 days to get the answer.
Well, it can't be 5 days again...
We have t2 = (n1/n2)t1.
Substitute n1 = 8, n2 = 10, t1 = 5 days to get the answer.
then what is it?
Just substitute the numbers...
Um, what are you doing?
You just need to substitute the values.
t2 = (n1/n2)t1 = (8/10)*5 days = 4 days
That's it...
Don't really know what you were doing. Seemed like something random, which is not useful.
4 days
Replace the variables by their values. That is what I meant.
8 people 5 days
1 person 5•8=40 days
10 people is 40:10=4 days
well,
I was saying u 4 days
