Typically, when solving a quadratic equation, you want to move everything to one side so that if you can factor, you can immediately conclude at least one of the factors must be 0
cause if it's any other number, like 1, you can't immediately conclude that each factor is equal to 1 or something like that
also, the quadratic formula is for when a quadratic is set equal to 0, so there's that
but for completing the square, you want to move the constant on one side and all the terms with the variable on the other
