hm yea I think there's a mistake but it's also true by coincidence cuz if one of the solutions of the final equation is x = 2

Ahhh alr. I didnt see x = 2. Its kinda weird tho, how do you turn x² - x - 2 = 0 into (2x+2)/(x+2)=(x+1)/(2)?
