- Pets give a stat bonus when equipped
- If you feed them 60 hearts worth of food, they get "eternal bond" which gives 2.5x the original stat bonus. You can track progress roughly like this
Yellow = less than 10 hearts fed
Orange = 10-59.5 hearts fed
Green = 60 hearts fed, eternal bond - Pets can be fed up to 5 hearts. They lose 0.5 hearts about every 4 hours of "logged out" status and you can feed them again
- Liked foods give 1 heart, favourite foods give 2 hearts (but fills up 1.5 hearts). Disliked foods give no hearts, so you can feed them immediately again
- Based on this, the fastest way to get hearts is to come back every 4 hours and feed them with favourite food (although this costs coins to buy. So consider whether you would prefer to just slowly feed them liked items which you got for free)
- The only thing that happens if hearts get low is that the pet will look sad and stop following you in town. You will still get the same stats in battle, and can feed them as usual to increase hearts

Generally, favourite food can be bought from the town merchant where the pet appears as an enemy. For example:
||Pippop appears in maille, favourite food is waterdew flower also bought in maille
Salamander appears in pompon, favourite food is durian also bought in pompon||
The special ones like blooplet, araquartz and zenkoban have their favourite food sold by adrian (travelling merchant, appears in every town)
||Blooplet: clam chowder
Araquartz: crystal beetle
Zenkoban: kitsudon noodles
Golpy: bone-bone biscuits
