#Game leaving Xbox Gamepass

I have a few questions about Coral Island leaving Xbox Gamepass.

  1. Will the game still stay on Xbox to at least buy or will it be gone after it leaves?

  2. I've bought more of my games on Steam and was considering just buying the game on Steam at least. Is there any way to save any local data (saves and all that) to my computer so I can keep my progress if I downloaded the game through steam instead, or is it too different to continue from that? I'm at a point that I wouldn't mind just restarting but it's nice if I wouldn't have to.

  3. Leading from the last question, if I decided to buy it on Xbox (if it's available) or if I bought it on steam, would I have to delete the game to be able to redownload it and play it through the bought game on Xbox or Steam?

I hope that's not too many questions, and also I love how cozy this game is Peanut_ImOkay_Emoji Chick_Angel_Emoji

the game is only leaving gamepass not xbox itself. u can move ur xbox save to steam but it will most likely corrupt and you will not get any help with bugs. as for 3 i dont have xbox so i cant help with that sry

  1. only the ’free’ to play Gamepass access will be removed (as per Microsoft’s decision bc Microsoft is final say afaik for what is on Gamepass & when/how long)

  2. technically possible, yes. Recommended, absolutely not (file data will corrupt, whether within a few in game days, or maybe game months etc. but file data does corrupt & save file ends up lost anyways)

  3. you wouldn’t have to do anything to your PC’s stored game data - wherever you play game from it has different save paths which don’t intersect

It's only leaving game pass, and it's a play anywhere title so you can buy it at any point after it leaves game pass and pick up right where you left off.

Steam saves and Xbox saves are seprarate. What I mean is that Coral Island on xbox is a play anywhere title, meaning after it leaves game pass, you can buy it on console and still play it on PC using your same save you had when it was on game pass.

If you end up buying the game from Steam, you'll have to start over. There are some unsavory ways to possibly get your saves to work with Steam but it's not recommended as there's a lot of risk involved.

The post on Xbox Wire seems to suggest only the PC version is leaving Xbox Gamepass, cloud or Xbox is not stated between the brackets in comparison to the other titles. Is it confirmed that the game is leaving Gamespass on all platforms or maybe only PC??

~~It is leaving Game Pass which means Game Pass on Console, Cloud and PC. I confirmed this by opening the Xbox App on PC and going to Coral Island and it saying it's leaving Game Pass on Dec. 1st, as well as on "leaving soon" section of the Console Game Pass app. It's most likely a typo on the Xbox Wire post. ~~Ok I take it back, opened up my Series X and it doesn't show on the leaving soon section, but on my Series S it shows up. So something isn't adding up for sure.

I've also never seen a game leave Game Pass for one aspect of the platform but not the others. Games have only arrived on one aspect of the platform and not console - but this is for specific PC only games (cloud is almost always included in every Game Pass game added, so if it leaves Game Pass you always loose Cloud).

With that being said, the game is currently on sale, and even if you end up buying it 3 months from now, your saves will still work. You'll also get access to it on PC, Cloud and Console as it's a Play Anywhere title.

Hmm that's strange indeed.. We actually play it via cloud gaming on my Xbox one as it can stream Xbox S games as well via that way. My wife loves the game but obviously we can't buy it for the Xbox One. So I was hoping to resolve the mystery...

You can still purchase it from Xbox either online, or via the app and you should still be able to play it via cloud on the Xbox One. Can't guarantee that as it's been years since I've done something like that, but it did work for me before I got my Series X and S

Up until very recently you couldn't do this.

However, Xbox JUST added functionality to play owned Xbox games via Cloud Gaming (meaning not just Game Pass titles anymore). However, only 50 games are supported as of yet. You can't stream them on console, just other devices. Also doesn't yet work on the Xbox PC App - but apparently works via PC web browser.

Here's the initial game list:

Coral Island not on the list.

Xbox Wire

Starting today, Game Pass Ultimate members can stream select games they own, in all 28 countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) is available.

Games under the play anywhere title already had cloud streaming which is probably why I was able to do so. Doesn't surprise me that most of that has changed over the years. Coral Island is a play anywhere title which is odd that it's not on the list for cloud support. I'd have to do some more testing as I haven't had to do cloud gaming in a long while to see if any of my past purchases still met me or my wife do so.

I can still play it too (not that I'm complaining!) Is there a known date when it will be leaving gamepass and is it likely that the bugs with things like achievements and relationships will be fixed for Xbox beforehand?
