cant open the game on steam

since the update, game wont open at all? any ideas what i could troubleshoot?

In no specific order:

• Uninstall reinstall game
• restart steam & check its updates
• check PC for driver updates

none of that worked, i just get a black screen when i try to open coral island and it also wont stop/shut down, just have to restart my whole computer every tome to stop it running

PC specs? Graphics card is what I’d be most curious about

it used to run, though? and other games run…

its a good computer

ive played 170 hrs

Other games running is kinda irrelevant tho

Specs in relation to this specific game is what we gotta be checking out

This update added ALOTTT of content
& game has always been graphically heavy afaik
Devs have said previous iirc integrated graphics card aren’t supported
Dedicated graphics card is required
So that’s just always my first thought

During EA I remember there were people who could play during early versions, like v0.1 & v0.2
But by v0.3/v0.4 enough large content stuff had been added they couldn’t run game anymore

So possible it’s a scenario like that?

But I’d still defer to more PC based trouble shooting first perhaps

Also upon reading again - if it’s just a black screen when you laid it up, how long is said black screen? What’s the longest you’ve waited?
I’ve def had longer black screens upon booting game up via steam before

i mean, the beta worked but. idk… thank you for your help though, ill try to wait out the black screen for a while. it was taking seconds before the update but maybe if i wait ten minutes? idk

Yeah I’ve def had to give it a couple minutes before (I got nervous my game wasn’t working either)

So imo that’s not too abnormal perhaps

Additionally, bc of unfortunate publisher mess circumstances, the update releasing is actually just a beta patch dumped to live branch

We weren’t actually done beta testing as per devs intended beta testing plans

I know mine runs as admin or whatever was how I had to set it up bc wouldn’t work otherwise (back when I installed at EA release)

For me on my PC it gives a pop up (from windows) every time after I launch via steam & then I have to like approve it to run the game

I don’t remember how I set that up tho ? It was 2022 when I did all that googling …

For some games I have the launch shortcut as a desktop icon so for those I just right click the launch icon & select ‘run as administrator’

its hard cuz i cant… stop the game running even though it wont start it takes 5ever to stop running

so restarting computer again lol i guess

its not coming up as an option

yeah the game is just completely broken/not running. and our computer is really new and high powered so its highly unlikely its our computer being too low spec….

it played the beta and prev versions i dont know why it wont play now at all…

but it wont even open the game and keeps crashing or just doing nothing when we try

Oddly enough all of EA testing it wasn’t uncommon for the higher / def strong PC specs to be the ones having issues

Out of curiosity are you running anything in the background?
I had an issue like that with one of the recording programs I tried using, worked fine after I stopped that program

My initial guess is right now the game is trying to run on the integrated card and we need it on your dedicated. This video should help you

If this doesn't work, we'll pull in Eriska but she won't be here till Monday morning. But I'm fairly confident the integrated card is the issue
