I'll explain in kindness.

Certain minority groups are indeed more oppressed than others. Color of skin, not "passing", etc.

The way I address this is to start by affirming the pain they endure first before speaking of the difference or similarly.

If we don't acknowledge the pain that one ensures, you risk losing the audience who believes you simply don't care about it.

I also live with a trans* woman who insists on calling everyone they/them, and I'll explain that I understand the pain and trauma of a cishet world oppressing her own identity, but an establishment of another's identity is still solidified the moment they identify under their pronouns.

There's also saying "Oh, x minority isn't oppressed" because oppression takes place in many forms for different groups

Aces and Bi's are CONSTANTLY told they they're not oppressed because they're straight passng

It's very, very complicated when it comes to these discussions. If you don't account for the weights on the scale of systemic oppression and marginalized groups, you don't have as much buy-in because the first reaction is "my oppression is worse than yours." Which really flipping sucks.

So when someone is undermining someone within the rich/white/cis/het world, the issue of marginalization becomes the justification for saying "well you don't experience X, therefore you don't deserve the respect of Y."

I agree with practically everyone here. But it's really tough.

You're not stupid. Don't ever allow anyone, including yourself, to believe that.

Pronouns might have existed in language since before history was written, but ultimately this is very very new grounds for everyone within the English language. We don't have an usted or gender-neutral verbiage.

They/them still remains plural, which does not equate to gender-neutral. And you cannot say "They are fine" you'd have to say "They is fine". Which is even more complicated.

But even that can't be agreed upon, because a singular person cannot be plural, and therefore must use "is" instead of "are". So it's very, very new.

It's a hard thing to move on from and no one can expect to be forgiven easily after misusing the trust of someone else that way.

I think the only thing that kind of help to move forward is having a strong support system that catches you, when you need them and help you. Living the best way you can.
At some point, you might be comfortable enough to stand above them, and find enough confidence in yourself to stand your ground and be yourself - but that needs time, and feeling safe.

Not really. To be transgender is typically to identify with a gender you weren't assigned at birth. To be nonbinary is typically to not identify with any gender at all, or identify with a gender that falls outside of male/female.

They're separate things, though they have a lot of overlap, same as how bisexual and pansexual could be considered 'same-ish' but are different in how they tend to work. It's an overarching thing, gender identity, same as sexuality.

Technically, if you wanted to get into it, you have things like demiboy/girl, genderfluid, genderqueer, two-spirit, so on and so forth (Intersex usually also falls in the same overarching category, but is more easily definable, i.e., having characteristics of both sexes, though they don't always work in just that way).

Note that, though, I do say 'typically' and 'technically' - I say this because while these are labels that exist and are used, labels can only be decided by the person themselves. I actually think it’s not a usual teen drama. I would say the series shows that there are still traditions and old rules which force people to play a role (especially in a royal or other fame position). it’s still “unconventional” to be gay as a crown prince/fame person even if being gay or every other “thing” (sorry, do you have a better name for that? English is not my mother language) is a totally normal thing (not saying, there aren’t (stupid) people, who just don’t want to understand that). it’s a other discussion, if outings (famous or not) are necessary (like people who are heterosexual don’t out themselves usually) (please don’t get me wrong, I don’t have the opinion, outings are unnecessary; in a world where most people still think, everyone’s coming hetero/straight to live, it’s completely understandable: everyone can/should decide for themselves <3). to come to an end, i really enjoyed the series (watched season 2 today) and I still recommend it. It's also great if you find boy/girlfriend too juvenile, or if you're dating someone who doesn't fit the gender binary.

I saw a fascinating/humorous comedy show by a woman called Robyn Perkins discussing her experience of self-realisation of her bisexuality in her late 30s early 40s. When she came out to friends and family it was very much "oh so you're a lesbian now" or if they did accept her bisexuality she was called "greedy" etc. A chunk of her show was about how do you "prove" that you are "still" bi when you're in a relationship- which is where she made some humorous arguments that to remain bi she had to be touching both a tit and a dick at all times and if she let go of the tit- "that's it! you're straight." She ended on the fact that she is now engaged to a woman but that doesn't erase the fact that even if she never dates or is intimate with a man again she is still bisexual.
It's like to be LGBTQI+ you HAVE to have that aspect of yourself, whether it's sexual orientation, identity, expression on display at all times but for cis-het people it isn't something that needs to be actioned. Nobody "comes out" as straight (although I would love to normalise this as a thing).

I know personally that there is this weird knee jerk reaction, like when my friend transitioned, I had a moment of feeling sadness and that I'd lost someone. But I quickly kicked myself out of it for being stupid and realising I haven't lost anything, I still have an awesome friend, in fact it's better because they get to be who they are!

And for siblings it means 'saudara' for gn (most of the time its for male term but somehow its also widely used for gn term) and 'saudari' for the female term but its not widely used for daily life and often found for formal events and even then only on paper :p

If your binder is causing you difficulty breathing, absolutely do not wear it - look for something larger or of a different function. I understand that dysphoria can be a difficult thing to deal with, but binder safety is also very important.

You should never wear a binder that is too small for you in order to 'achieve' a flatter chest, as it can damage your ribs and your lungs, and never while swimming or sleeping - most guidelines recommend that it should be worn for no more than eight hours per day, and no more than six days per week.

I've heard a good temporary solution is a sports bra, but of course that's not the ideal solution if you still suffer from dysphoria long-term

I can help with binders if you're still trying to figure this out! So breathing should not be an issue--I fully forgo binders now because my dysphoria settled down, but I did wear them for years. Gc2b was my favorite company for binders when ordering straight sizes (like small, medium, large, etc), but personally I think if you can find someone on etsy that can do custom sizing for you, that's always a better fit.

Also not very knowledgeable about chest binding but I consider myself a bit of a MacGyver, my instinct as a short term solution is to go to a chemist and get like bandage wrap, something that is cohesive then you can wrap it around and find the tightness that feels right but still able to breathe. I'll attach a link in the next message with something from amazon, (not to buy) but as a visual for what I'm trying to describe. another option is Tubigrip (sorry brand name) which is in the pictures. depending on what size you are, and you can always ask for sizing advise by say "My relative just had an operation and I need to get them more bandages for them. Do you have a tubular bandage that fits (your chest measurement) cm/inches?" this method only works if you're less than <100cm/39inches.

if you get this kind of 'basic' or 'neutral' think about if you actually wear that type of thing. Maybe a plain white T-shirt is a good basic staple piece for a lot of people, but is it for you? What kind of cut do you like and is functional for you? Do you prefer to have your shoulders or arms covered etc? What kind of fabrics do you like (aka do you sweat and polyester will make you stinky, is there something you hate the feel of or is making you itchy)?
Also what colours do you actually wear? A staple piece can be bright orange if that goes with other colours you wear a lot. So something light and something dark may be useful to have, but maybe those would be ivory and dark grey for you, or light blue and navy etc etc

personally i id as trans for the sake of convienience and ease. Strangers have no need to know my full identity and also in our country people seem to have an easier time getting gender affirming help if they say theyre trans rather than nonbinary, or at least thats what ive heard from other people actively transitioning.
I do think that to some degree trans is very much considered to be a binary label in the sense of how its seen by the outside world for sure at the very least.

but that also may have to do with people's lack of understanding or knowledge of nonbinary both as a label and as an umbrella term, as well as people's reluctance to see trans as an umbrella term that includes those outside the binary sometimes as well

The reluctance against umbrella terms is a big one for me. Trans is an umbrella but people don't want to look at it that way, and so is non-binary

Like if my options are 1 or 2 but I'm 1 and 2 that's distinctly non-binary. That also means if you identify as 3 or neither that's also enby

I think a lot of people, sadly, are incapable of accepting the "I don't subscribe to any gender or pronouns" seems to blow everyone's noodle. I hope humanity will get there one day though

Basically, I initially said as I didn't feel like a part of gender at all trans felt a bit like a label that didn't fit me, but then I got abbunch of backlash about how I had internalized transphobia and wasn't REALLY enby then, and it turned me from neutral but I'd prefer if ya didn't to, "I am aggressively against this label being forced against me. Stop it."
