No problem. It's a great spell if you're a wizard player and want to make your teammates go what the hellllll?!? When a goon insults your spellbook and you proceed to hulk out and slap them around with said spell book because you also have the tavern brawler feat which makes you proficient in Book Slap-Do, dealing 4d12 per slap.

That is a fun spell I used it in a oneshot once hahaha
Welcome to dumb quotes from my last session
"Tex you have disadvantage on that roll, roll again to see if you get worse."
"Well I don't know how I could roll less than a one."
Lel.
Double 1's? A portal opens up as you've unleashed a minor evil into the world.
The wild magic sorcerer in my one game rolled two 1s on the wild magic surge table which led to 2 minutes of in game insanity
he turned into a potted plant AND a sheep
one of my favourite wild magic stories was from an animator on youtube
girl's sorcerer accidentally created an anti-magic zone in a city literally built on magic
that was also a seal for the tarrasque downstairs
oh nooooooo hahaha
Why would you seal a tarrasque in the literal center of your city!?!? D:
Because thats not for now city to worry about, that's for future city to worry about.
I just realized that's pretty much the premise to any game where a demon or evil god was sealed away for a millennia.
"That's not for now world to worry about, that's for future world to worry about."
I mean what better way to stop someone from finding something than building an entire city on top of it
every cheesy horror movie
Sewer Maintenance: "this is disgusting, damn pipes are jammed again. Hey Jimmy come give me a hand we gotta with unclogging this."
Few moments later. "Woah....why's there a creepy door back here hidden behind all this sewage?....ey jimmy I bet this is where some thief hid all his loot, here hold the light while I crack it open"
And so begins Tarrasque: The awakening.
Shortly followed by Tarrasque: you should have let me sleep.
iirc there wasn't actually an access point anywhere
it was completely sealed off
and the city's worth of magic was making sure it stayed that way
and then wild magic created an anti-magic zone big enough and for long enough that the tarrasque woke up
yuuuup
@heavy granite @hoary timber So youāre talking about Dingo Doodles series, Foolās Gold. The tarrasque in question was sealed under the city with magical restraints. Once the wild magic created the no-magic zone, the restraints stopped working and the tarrasque woke up.
Additionally, I should note - the Tarrasque can move through the earth like itās air or water. Beyond that, while it is in the earth, it does not displace the earth - nothing is disturbed while the tarrasque moves through it. So yes, it can just emerge from below the ground.
oh lawdy
Also, the leader of the city in question was some sort of witch enchantress voodoo queen
So of course sheās going to find where the tarrasque is sleeping, tie it up and then build a city on top of it
I think you're mistaking a Tarrasque for a Xorn because unless a GM decided that, a Tarrasque has no Burrow speed or the earth glide ability.
I'd give it the whole it's powerful enough to burrow thing but I very much doubt it can just sink into the earth like an earth elemental like a Xorn.
I think in an older edition it might have had it but as far as I'm aware the only time it burrows is when it goes into hibernation
And when it wakes up.
Even then in 5E it'd still burst out of the ground instead of floating up like a Xorn.
Eh, honestly the lore changes so much I just go with the interpretation I like the most and reflect that in my games. And everyone else can do the same for theirs ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
my own genius suprises even me somtimes
a teacher called on a kid in my class named zoe
i said what because
i have a dnd character named zoe and wasnt thinking
- stands up and screams 'WHERE ARE THE GOBLINS???' *
GOBLIN GOBLIN GOBLIN
also one of my dms is letting me play an awoken monkey artificer :)
RETURN TO MONKE. MAKE MAGIC BOMBS
NO WAS GONNA DO ARMORER MECHA MONKE
MONKE HAS ENOUGH POWER TO DO ANYTHING
MONKE 20 IN ALL ABILITY SCORES
(please don't go too overboard with all caps. ā¤ļø )
ok
oops I'll chill out now š
nah 20s actaully not that high once you start looking at potention (given enough time you can get infinite con dex strength wis, and maybe int and charisma tho idk if there are books for those so infinite stats!
dnds hella easy to break
infinite stats isnt pushing the game to its limits
I mean that makes sense, given all the rules are written with no technical enforcement
its just getting the right magic item and being immortal
since the manuals give you a plus 2 to the stat that book does each time its read
but can only be read every 100 years
big crazy
fancy
I wish I could play more of this game but nobody wants to dm :((
idk if that's my style, I really enjoyed the gameplay
try it
maybe
everyone should at least once imo
not everyone might like it as much but most dms end up only dming
so you should give them a break and a chance to play the game as a player
Yeah I think that's good advice
one good campaign to run would prob be curse of strahd if youre looking for something pre written to
since theres a lot of fan made resources for it
yeah, I've looked at that one and it has a really cool setting that could be worth trying but looking through the pdf booklets there's so much going on lol
Maybe I'll be better as a DM, I died on the only session we've ever done
I played as an Aarackocra barbarian, a really weird first character I know
Today in D&D land: player edition
My happy go lucky Dragonborn Barbarian is going on a trip with her party members across the ocean. A few days into this trip a huge lightning storm happens. Being a lightning Dragonborn, she loves this and considering she has winged boots she flies up into the clouds and proceeds to enjoy her clans traditional act of absorbing lightning.
A few moments later a giant world serpent surfaces above the waves and begins devastating the ship while the rest of the party tries fighting it off.
My Dragonborn finally realizing what's happening after a bit makes a little prayer, goes into a frenzy by eating a cookie and proceeds to allow herself to fall ultimately slamming herself and her maul into the top of this sea serpents head.
My GM is currently trying to find more dice because apparently he said he's run out.
Results are in. Both her and the serpent have a throbbing headache.
This type of stuff is exactly why I love D&D
I'm currently building my first warlock and am still kind of torn between the familiar and the tome with 3 free cantrips
Experience reports are very welcome ā¤ļø
This is my first time playing with either familiar or cantrips, so... I have no experience with either
Hmmmmm
Both are good. Pact of the chain allows you to have your familiar further than 100 ft and you can still see through there eyes as well as cast touch spells from them so if you want to let's say turn your familiar into a cat and have them roam around town and pick up information with them because nobody pays attention to a cat grooming itself on a wall. You could also have it curse a person you don't like by touching them. Familiar warlocks also provide interesting RP opportunities with there familiars
On the other hand Pact of the tome warlocks are very versatile because there time works like a spellbook where they can copy ritual spell scrolls into them and cast rituals with it without using spells slots.
They can also write down a companions name into there book and with it they can communicate as if with the sending spell.
It all depends on wether you want your warlock to have more of a I have a familiar who likes to laze about but they also spy for me or a I am a warlock who looks through there book of secrets and is able to cast spells that can be useful in certain situations if we are prepared
Hmm I think I'll stick with Pact of the Chain, mostly because of the "it's my extended arm"
Thanks!
Not a problem :) it's nice seeing people picking alternative warlock archtypes considering most go for Hexblade due to the versatility.
Familiars are great for healing downed allies with cure wounds without actually getting close or good for giving allies the help action in fights to give them advantage
Plus who doesn't love a warlock with a crow familiar who wears a Little vest and behaves like a proper gentleman.
PLUS you can have a itty bitty dragon!
My psudodragon is a little feral some times because whenever my 2 year old makes noises when we play we always say its the dragon making those noises
Bahaha I love that
Yessss I want a dragon tbh xDD
Psuedodragons are the sassiest of dragons.
Update on d&d land player edition:
After the fight, one of the PCs who was an elf and died was reincarnated into a Human. He now thinks he's absolutely Hideous and that his girlfriend won't love him anymore so he decides to hide it from her with illusion magic.
My innocent straightforward Barbarian said why must you hide it? It is bad to lie. It is better that they know now so that you do not suffer later, you will give yourself tummy aches if you hide it. It is ok to be outside ugly, it is not ok to be inside ugly. If they do not love you for who you are but what you look like then they are inside ugly and that is bad for you. Here I will help you.
While having one level of exhaustion she managed to grab the sending stone from his hand and began to speak.
The Elf now Human player character freaks out and attempts to grab the stone back from her to which he somehow managed to fail despite the fact he has expertise in sleight of hand and my character has disadvantage on athletics checks at the moment so she has a hand on his forehead and is chatting with his girlfriend while he tries grabbing at it.
He then slips out of it and tries again, rolls a natural one. At that point he's got his feet planted into her abs and both of his hands are trying to pull her hand open unsuccessfully as he pushes off of her with all his strength.
He finally says please don't tell her and she sighs and hands him back the stone, reminding him that it is not good for his health to hold onto such things.
Question
Who in yāallās opinion makes the better hide in plain sight assassin
The psi rogue or the college of whispers
@primal perch College of Whispers
Their subclass lore is that they literally masquerade as other Colleges
But frankly, if you want a hide-in-plain-sight assassin... why not the literal Assassin subclass?
A gunslinger/assassin rogue mc would work pretty well too, depending on what you wanna do
Or ranger/assassin rogue, they work pretty well together
Assassins poopy
Just go changeling assassin.
Unless someone is able to figure out that you're a shapechanger there's no way they can figure out you're pretending to be someone else
I have a changeling barb/assassin rogue concept chilling in my head and I wanna flesh them out and play them so badddd
The benefit of the college of whispers is that you can turn into someone you killed for a few minutes but you only know surface information about them nothing deep it important
Dew it
No new campaigns coming up and would have the mental energy to join another one anyways jfkd
College of whispers/assassin rogue could be a cool combo too
It could. Then you're pretty much extra expertise
High enough level you literally can't get below a ten on a roll in a skill you have proficiency in
And then bard gives you half proficiency in anything you aren't proficient in
Including initiative
Which helps assassin get first in initiative
Oh God i didn't even think about that
My brain just went "ha ha cool class combo go brrrr"
Lol
Imo personal opinion itās a dip subclass not one you actually use for high level
That's fair
Also
Itās a changeling
You can become anyone (who youāve seen) so you donāt really need the 9th level ability
Like spy tf2
Iāve never seen someone use the later assassin ability and instead mostly care about the third level stuff
How many assassin's have you played with
oh wow
Did yāall know in DnD first edition Dungeon masters were called referees?
That's interesting I always assumed since the 1E book was called 'The Dungeon Masters Guide' that they were called Dungeon Masters
The more ya know.
**Today in D&D land GM Edition: the party knows there's a doppelganger Assassin in the city stalking them but they decided to split up anyway because one of them doesnt want to leave the cafe they are in. the party agrees to meet up later but dont specify a time. an hour later in game time the other player returns to the cafe dressed differently and says that because its a doppelganger they dont want risk it twisting things and smearing there family name because they are a noble and that upon speaking to there father they were given the contact information for a bounty hunter that can find doppelgangers in the shadier district. the player that stayed behind didnt question it and doesnt realize its the doppleganger theyre trying to watch out for and its leading him away from the real player into a quieter part of town to get rid of him.
Meanwhile the other player and her butler are making there way back to the cafe to meet up with the first player now that they are ready.**
Doppleganger maddness!
In one of my games I dopplegangered (with disquise self) the doppleganger, so we were both a city guard captain. Dopple was in a building with the head guard and I went in to and was like "He's an imposter!" There were some checks involved and the doppleganger lost their cool and started attacking people , but I also got arrested so... š¤£
(We already knew about the dopple gangers so were on the look out for them too and also had zjust seen the captain in a completely different area than the Dopple had come from so it was a bit of a gamble but did pay off lol)
Lmao nice.
God dndbeyond has a really big sale rn š©
Wondering if I should splurge on explorer's guide to wildemount and eberron...
do itttt š
Dnd in 3 hours
If itās half as good as last session it will be
I just rolled a Druid with 13 Wisdom, we'll see how this goes hahaha
I don't know if anyone was aware of the but there's a Legend of Zelda themed table top RPG (using some DnD mechanics) called Reclaim the Wild (using all LoZ lore from the original game up through Breath of the Wild.)
There is? that's so cool!
They are heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere
š
So pretty!
Last game my ranger proceeded to skip a miniboss because the miniboss liked them too much;
I also made a mood board for my newest D&D character, a warlock of the fathomless
Hear me out
A campaign world wheee most races are more animal based
For example orcs could have hog or pig like traits
Dwarfs could have mole like traits
Elves could be bird like and their sub race changes the bird
For example drow and shadrakia (I think I spelt that wrong) could be crows and ravens
A high elf could be an eagle or something else regarded with renown
Halfling could be tied in with hamsters or mouses
Tiefling could be reptilian
Maybe snakes
Oh completely forgot about humble wood I remember hearing sponsorships by it years back
mood boards are the best, I love yours!
But what about Yuan-Ti, Lizardfolk, Kobolds, Dragonborn, Tabaxi, Leonins, Aarakocra, Loxodons, Centaurs, Kenku, and Minotaurs?
Same as they normally are I was thinking
What do you mean? Those races don't have anything to do with animals at all!
Loxodon are literally elephant people
Or maybe on a diff though process they become the more human races
What? I've never heard of this. obvious sarcasm is obvious
Simple changes that would make your campaign world more different
totally didnāt decide to make this for my campaign world because one of my players doesnāt play āfurry charactersā
Oh sorry
You're good š
It's your world the races can pretty much have any specific physical quality you'd like.
In one of my campaigns tieflings had tendrils instead of horns.
How would that work?
Oops
Meant to reply to the tendrils
Or look
Lol
In that setting the tieflings were mostly descended from a specific fiend and they had tendrils coming out of there forhead instead of horns that'd be long enough that they'd reach down to there waist. They'd do them back in bands like hairbands along with there hair and they'd decorate them with small pieces of jewelry.
Or body paints.
Ok
This isn't exactly the same, but the idea of tendrils instead of horns reminded me of Luxans and Ilanics from Farscape.
That's a unique twist on tieflings, I really like it
Same š
Have you seen the FarScape Roleplaying Game?
I have not. I didn't realize that was a thing lol.
Yeah! I've taken a peek at it and it looks wonderfully cheesy
Wants a mini figurine of a sentient war ship.
A leviathan figurine would be so cool!
I think that ttrpg is compatible with... 3rd edition dnd?
I don't know for sure, I didn't go looking that far
Oof only ones I've played for dnd are 3.5, 5 and 1stE ADnD
If I did do a farscape version is probably use starfinder š¤
I've only played 5e and then a completely different system that doesn't even use d20s
I think I know which type talking about. Just d6s right?
it was extra math, i had to write formulas down for figuring out how to calculate how hard my character hit.
Nope! d10s!
The ttrpgs Iāve played are dnd 5e and 3.5 coc 7e tales from the loop and am gonna run city of mist soon
the one I played was L5R, which was complicated, but interesting. I played a monk who inflicted fire damage with his punches and had a 75ft vertical leap
Oh that would be so cool!
I think there even is a system based on atla but don't quote me
I saw a system based on Labyrinth the other day, i wouldn't be surprised if there was an atla system
There is a system based on ATLA it's really cool.
oooo that would be so fun!
this is really cool!
It shows a really cool world with classes, clans and the such and it's only 50 pages.
someone posted this in another server and I think it can be super helpful :3
Those are really cute character sheets.
...I know the icon for hit dice is supposed to be a bandage, but... toilet paper.
Toilet paper to wipe your tears when you're character is sent to the afterlife
i like that explanation but goodness are your characters ok dante?
I've cried so many times during roleplay without anyone dieing š
No no, itās totally meant to be TP, I mean, just look at how empty all the TP shelves has been this past year, Iām sure TP saves lives... or something
i might start using that i just like it a lot
It's multipurpose. Once a man used a roll of triple ply to swing across a gorge and save a baby. The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy had it wrong about bringing a towel everywhere when toilet paper is the unsung hero
.....please no one try swinging across a gorge with triple ply toilet paper because of my joke D:
you know. I was gonna. but that that you said not to, I will follow your advice
You'll just have to make do with making a character who uses a roll of toilet paper as a whip
It shall be a magic weapon named Old Reliable.
Has anyone played TIME Stories? A friend and I just started and weāve done two stories, but one was revolution so we havenāt done the āmainā expansions yet. Curious to hear thoughts on the next one which is Marcy Case!
I've played it but we were not very good at it and never actually beat it hahaha
I can't say I have played it. I'm unsure what it is.
it looks so interesting dang š
Would pet, 10/10
How bored am I right now? Bored enough to start making a map for a new world in case I ever want to make a new campaign.
Will I ever actually use it? Who knows
What program are you using if you don't mind me asking?
It's a program named Wonderdraft.
Oooooo thank you!!
No problem :)
Itās a collaborative (or solo) game where you have to solve a mystery before your time runs out essentially! Iām not competitive so itās a good game for me LOL
Any advice on finding DND groups for people who are intimidated by established DND groups šš
This is going to sound silly but, places like reddit, your local game store (if it's safe for you) and even through sites such as roll20. You can go looking for new groups, or even start your own.
Though, given that you're looking for one I'd say you're only interested in being a player, so, my other advice would be to find DND centered discord servers that have dedicated "looking for group" channels.
Either way, happy gaming!
Ooh thanks! We do have a new-ish board game shop downtown and theyāve talked about running some games but covid has made it hard. I have hardcore social anxiety so itās hard for me to be like āhello I am here please let me playā
That's understandable! Honestly if it's hard to meet in person maybe see if they have a facebook page or business site? There could be a way to contact them online rather than in person for your first steps!
DnDBeyond (linked on their website) has a discord, theyāve got 2 channels to search in, if youāre a player looking for a group to be with or if youāre a DM looking for a group to DM for, most of the time no one in those groups know each other before hand and it can get really amazing and really fun to play with them, of cause itās only for virtual games but with the world outside right now thatās a great thing.
I found my dnd group on the MRPG app and then later I moved everyone over to Discord. A lot of GMs put up looking for players notices on there and you can try to apply. It might take a few games with different people and GMs to get a solid group together but in the meantime at least you get to play a few games. The majority of them peter out after a few sessions unfortunately.
But best place too look is reddit for now considering they're the most consistent player groups despite the horror stories I hear about.
thanks for all the tips!
There's a new app being made specifically for people looking for groups but it hasn't released yet
Oooh that sounds interesting!
Yeh it's called tavernbuddy. One shot questers made a whole little ad about it at the end of there video explaining it. You might wanna look into it once it releases, it looks neat.
Pre-Register TavernBuddy Today so you can be the first one to be notified when the App Launches: https://tavernbuddy.app/
Bards are one of the biggest meme's in Dungeons and Dragons, but what does it take to actually become a Bard?

it feels like its missing something š¤ any suggestions?
I'd recommend some foliage, by the looks of it the maps in a tundra like area. Maybe some small bushes or long grasses?
Whatās the purpose? Battlemap?
a battlemap yeah. Ill go ahead and see if about adding a few rough bushes and a few trees. It might present a hiding spot on the cliff at the bottom. hmmm
Re finding games as a new player bc I skimmed the conversation but didn't see this: roll20 is also a really good way to find new campaigns or oneshots to your specifications!
Got my dice in today and I'm sobbing they're so pretty
now I just need to wait for my little potion bottles for storage of them to come in so I can store them in something that isn't just a zip-lock baggie
A shady man in trench coat calls out to you from an alley, he hold his coat close to himself "psst hey. Yeah you, you look like the type of person that could use a little 'spice' in your life."
They look back and forth a moment before opening there coat showing an assortment of dice sets in little zip lock baggies hanging from his coat. He snorts a little, clearing his throat "I have unicorn sparkle, bloodbath red, goat who ate my slipper white and passionate purple purgatory on sale today. You don't get these anywhere kid."
TFW you are DMing a game this evening and have barely prepped
Not really, They just got to a island that was hit hard by a hurricane and they did a bunch of stuff there last session and are out to do a fetch quest for the island so mostly just need to set up an encounter lol
I made a Tattoo parlor that sells magical tattoos but im struggling deciding on a name. Im thinking either Hidden Inks or Inks 4 Kinks
Hidden Inks for Kinks š¤
Its a play on words because the owners named Kink Barrows.
The Battle Boobs? A mercenary group of Aaracokra that are Blue Footed Boobies?
Fiercest fighters this side of the world
Actually made a map and encounter and they didn't even get to it hahahaha
They spent an hour and a half arguing about how to get through seaweed while one member made paste š¤£
Sounds about right
Humanities greatest enemy, their own ability to overcomplicate everything
Reminds me of my players. They ended up in the city where a character's mother lived, whom she hadn't seen or contacted for 15 years. She gets coerced by 'helpful' party members into making contact, and the party gets invited to dinner the next day.
Two of the characters, both significantly less socially aware than their players actually are, were trying to figure out what you're supposed to wear/bring to a dinner, and managed to convince themselves that it was the first character's birthday and they'd all forgotten (and were therefore terrible friends even though she'd never told them her birthday to begin with) and that this was actually a surprise birthday party and the mother just hadn't said anything because she didn't want to ruin it.
So they convinced the rest of the party then spent an entire session sneaking around behind this character's back, buying fancy outfits and a present and a cake for this totally not a birthday party, and at the end of the dinner got the present out and the cake, and the sympathetic social anxiety from how awkward it was was off the charts.
All in all it was fantastic and I nearly died laughing.
A minature Engine of Destruction.
it is the Tarrasques smaller cousin, An Equtaras. It is tiny and the description says that a clever owner will provide building blocks or Sandcastles for the Equtaras to reap its destruction.
I would kill for this lil dude.
That is adorable and I want one.
yoo my dms letting me play monke!!!!
I get be a monke artificer
This gonna be fun
Cool! I have a couple people in the game Iāll be running who have decided to play fairies
O elsa youāre a mod now?
Disappear for a week and things change
Haha that they do
Well uh late congrats!
Ye Iāve got an idea for a backstory too Iām just confused why my dm would let me play an eladrin or monke but not a shadarkai or duargr
I think I spelt al of that wrong
Maybe avoiding the āevilā races? I know duergar are the āevilā dwarf subrace
Wasnāt about evil tho
It was about how rare theyād be in a place like candlekeep except
Why would an eladrin or awakened monke be there
Yeah that doesnāt exactly add up, but at least you did get a cool character idea.
The two groups I'm DMing have such a wild mix. One has two fairies, a dragonborn, a naga, and a half elf. The other has some more common races (tabaxi, human, half-elf, and tiefling) but their classes are wild
The tabaxi is a sharpshooter fighter with automatic crossbows, the human is an artificer in a wheelchair he made himself, the tiefling is a paladin of the goddess of joy and is a former gladiator, and the half-elf is a rogue roped into being team dad
One of your fairies is a barbarian, I mean.. c'mon
Yeah, we do got a little fairy barbarian lmao
My boyf is playing a fairy barbarian atm what a coincidence
Also Iām wondering if anyone here has heard of a ttrpg called Lancer
The last lancer or just Lancer?
I just looked it up. I have not but it looks dope
Gotta love mech rpgs
Yeah itās one of my favorite games
Honestly like it more than DnD 5e sometimes lmao
i hear about it once every few weeks
Itās honestly really easy to play
Took me a day where DnD 5e took me a week to properly learn
I played a CoC oneshot
Not my personal favorite but Iād play it again if the dm wanted to run it
its nto combat focused
its more about avoiding and preventing
which i like
tales from the loops also pretty cool @drifting star
scifi 1980s kids movie B)
Ooo
There was one that a friend ran on Halloween
It was very weird
Very creepy
remember the name?
10 candles
oki
Was in a snowy mood today so i made this for a future fight against my players. theyve been traumatized into staying away from large bodies of water ever since one of them waded into the middle of a frozen lake in the hopes of looting what they thought was a frozen adventurer when it turns out it was an angler fish monster whose bait is a somewhat humanoid figure.
oooh, that looks fun! sounds amazing š
on a totally unrelated note, has anyone here played sleepaway or wanderhome?
TEN CANDLES... is it good?? ive wanted to play it for years š„ŗ
I think itās great if you have a good dm and set the atmosphere for it
noted! it definitely seems like the kind of game that demands powerful atmosphere and a masterful runner.
We played in a dark room literally with the candle light being our only way of seeing each other
amazing
oh!! and i have played lancer before!
it was a bit much for our DM to handle, with all the tags for stuff, but i enjoyed playing it at least
Dude I wanna play it again I miss it so much
it was amazing for sure! what's your favorite mech?
i'm partial to the horus hydra š
Dusk Wing
S.S.
Give me something tiny, annoying, and somewhat stealthy and Iām happy
The harlequin cloak ability it has is dumb I love it so much
haha, valid! i love the hydra because it feels so wild and esoteric to use
and it was SOOOO fun to design my hydra, the cobalt lost
I wanna play a pilot whoās whole thing is being a chaotic soul
Someone I played with used a Horus mech
I canāt remember whatās called but it was a big boi
awesome :O!!!
This makes me want to pick up Lancer haha
What if hypothetically we found someone to dm it? :D
Then hypothetically I would begin attempting to look up how the system works haha
Guess itās time to dm hunt
waves bag of dice like treats
Cmere dms, cmere
Question
Answer
Because the dm wonāt accept they exist in my campaign setting as an answer
Iām obnoxious Iām sorry lmao
Does anyone know any buggy races in any 3rd party things or just in dnd?
Hmm
Oh itās fun/fine take your pick
Iād say check UA for bug races
Doesnāt even have to be a player race
If not, ask permission to homebrew?
As previously stated he said no when I said but itās in my campaign setting
Bruh
If itās your setting I say the race exists
Brb screaming
I can play the 4 arm bug bois then
Oh God 4 arm fighting
Just duel weapon with 2 great axes
There's a insect creature in D&D that has its own language so technically one could say they'd be able to play one.
Know the name?
What is it?
Cause Ik a boi now as of a second ago thatās in the monster manual but I canāt remember their name
Ah damn they aren't considered bugs they're considered monstrosities
Thatās fine
What are they
I just meant buggy Bois as in bug like
Kruthiks
~~I donāt wanna play an anthro bug what are you taking about Baka ~~
Itās fine
Loths technically which would lock me in as neutral tho Iām fine with that
Oooo
Or wait
Drow are my favorite
Driders are cool but I want like buggy head
Quasits look buggy
He fun
Ahhhh
I love this one
The Umber Hulk
It's large though.
Plus they're kinda op as a player race what there confusion eyeballs but they do have a language
Ye I was thinking maybe them but theyāre too big for dnd player standards
Just say this one's a young one so it's medium.
Actually a good idea
Or I could say that in that world theyāre from theyāre smaller
That works. The eyebeam would have to be nerfed somewhat or removed as well considering it has tremorsense, improved darkvision and a burrow speed.
Otherwise party members are going to have to continuously roll against confusion
@hoary timber just checked some stuff umberhulks are small enough to just get the ability the big races get
Theyāre around 8 feet usually
Hmmm imma play a thiccc beetle bard then
Jiminy thiccet it is then
Wait wait wait THERES GONNA BE A TABLETOP?!?
Oh ok I was so confused
Ooooh I like those!!!
Bc there's a loooot of ttrpg players in here
This is just for talking about different things, like D&D š
Would be quite cool though! Maybe some day :D
Iām attempting to try one thatās coming out soon called shiver
That would be neat! But yeah, just for general ttrpgs
You don't say, Vex'ahlia cosplay profile picture.
Cough cough shhhhhhh
No idea what you're talking about, myst š
Sure
@hoary timber he wonāt let me play umbrrhulks because theyāre large but is fine with another player playing a Goliath despite them being the same height this is dumb
Lore wise goliaths aren't as wide as Umber hulks but I understand why that's kind of bull considering you can just say well what if this one's a runt
that sounds really stupid, tho, your DM might not be comfortable juggling the rules of large creatures as playables? Goliaths are still only a Medium, even if it DOES seem stupid that they're only Medium
So it's medium instead of large
Ye
Pull out a Mezzoloth then
Goliaths have an ability which makes them count as large for skills and stuff so functionally they are
yhe, but they're still Medium creatures when it comes to mounts and such
Lmao heāll hate me even more since he fears more then 2 arms
He hates loxodon
Yeah golliaths only count as large when it comes to carrying or grappling things. I don't see why your GM is having such a fit over it when they can be like this umberhulk has stunted growth due to being malnourished when it was young so it's much smaller than normal umber hulks.
lol, yhe, our DM is amazing and is letting my friend and I make our Fairies Tiny instead of Small
Due to this it was bullied out of the umberhulk community it new and was forced to work with humanoids to survive.
Oh no. I'm getting ptsd flashbacks
we're a 14.8cm tall Fairy and a 15cm tall Fairy
we're BOTH stupid as hell, Wis and Int is our dumb stats
well... we both rolled stupid low for those so we ended up going "and they were siblings"
Sounds fun
Do they share similar names?
Iām just so pissed I canāt play a umberhulk
He was like
Loook in the monster manual if itās humanoid and smart enough to talk sure
And an umberhulk is
all 5 siblings of our Parents all have names starting with a C, and we all share Von (german verb) (court name) for names
Quick, what are your siblings names, don't look it up
uhhhhhh
fuck, shit, uhhhhh our Younger brother is Casper Emil Von Regnbogen de la court des regiones sauvages
don't remember the older siblings

i see you in the google doc š
falls over ded
If it's a humanoid? Play a Hag. Myehehe

Hehehe
I wanna play a buggy boi tho
ah, you're the Camel online
I shouldn't be, but I guess I am

I'm looking at it from my account with my lil mimic d20 icon
Considering the nameās length, that was bound to happen
Nope, that's gotta be me
Deep scion? It's a tentacly boi.
Thatād name would make me go āno thoughts head emptyā mode
Y'all really played yourself with these names

that's the entire fucking family
I can't pronounce the French part of our name, Vix can't pronounce the german parts, we're all gonna die
Show I forgot what they look like
I remember having started on a Teifling character
What was her name again...?
but hey, pro's of being fae: names have power, you don't share your entire name
Found it - Orianna Ea
But a changelings fine
Play a changeling then. Same thing.
Nah it was more of a thingy that I just asked wasnāt my focus
Play a Trail warrior.
Or a trail death priest.
They're humanoids and they have above average intelligence
They speak kraul and they know common but can't speak it
He wonāt let us play stuff from magic because and I quote āthatās not a dnd universeā
Oh lord.
But heās fine with 3rd party
Just say "Understandable, have a nice day." And walk away.
As long as itās published in a book
They're making too many contradicting restrictions
Iām in this for a friend not him
Krauls are official and they are canon.
Well then you gotta tell your friend I'm sorry bro but this isn't working out, they keep stonewalling me and making restrictions that contradict each other.
They've been given like 6 different alternatives at this point it sounds like they are just making excuses because they don't want you to play a bug like creature.
I think he just doesnāt want anthro shit
Which is dumb
CAUSE THATS ALL THE COOL RACES
Say you want to play a werewolf then
Bug anthro is cool
What are these from?
Ok, after looking it over I'm just gonna have to say no. I'm not looking for argument so please don't argue. Here is my reasoning. 1. It says on the statblock chaotic evil. 2 it's a monstrosity. 3. It gets a special spell like ability that's kinda op. He just said that
Again Iām not a sword Coast umberhulk
Iām from a diff reality
Iām not the exact same
Ravnica
Oooo
is there a homebrew race for the Umberhulk? like people in the past made homebrew races for other "monsters"
if so, send him that, and have him look at that, or just accept that some DMs just aren't comfortable with some things so they'll hard-no it from the get go
Heās literally suggested other things that are also ce monstrosities
Oh ok
I just had to simply explain
That I was completely fine if the psyhonic ability was reworked
could someone help me balance somethin?
preferably in dms cause i dont wanna flood this channel
cause currently i made it way to much of a direct translation despite trying to nerf stuff and ugh it hurts
If you're trying to balance something for a specific game, maybe your DM can help? What I might think is balance, someone else might not love to have in their game.
not specific really because well originally i made the race for my friends campiagn i decided imma put it in my campaign world so ye
So this isn't for making a character for a specific campaign? Cause if that were the case I'd say maybe try balancing it together with your gm so you're both happy with it
its a mix of both and he doesnt have a good sense of balance
I would like to say... since itās fairy and not faerie, this tracks.
@primal perch Iāve noticed something from reading through this, but thereās actually a creature in the humanoid category that most people have overlooked. It might not be what youāre looking for, but... Ettercaps
I can even make it balanced.
Ettercap - +2 Dex, +1 Con
Level 5, can cast Spiderclimb on self 1/long rest (or level 3)
Webwalker- ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing
Darkvision 60ft
Web - 1/short or long rest. Ranged Attack 30/60, proficiency bonus + Dex,
To escape, strength check DC equal to 8+Proficiency Bonus+CON
Maybe even a natural weapon, e.g., their claws or a bite (minus the poison)
Banged out a Lesser Umber hulk player race real quick. not the best but then again im not trying to be proffesional lol
o yo cool ty
also [pretty cool :)
uh cant see it
š my bad for any mistakes. I was wondering if I should have made there gaze action based on uses per proficiency or once per rest.
Oh one sec
there
all good
The Parties next boss fight.
fear
oooo they're gonna have fun
what is your Dilemma my dude dudet or other and how can we help?
Dude works ^^
Ok
I should probably tell you the important stuff lmao
Basically this campaign is called The Concept, itās based around a pantheon gods by the same name. The most powerful deity is Time (I was lazy with naming also it makes sense for my setting).
The deities have a very strong connection to the planes, and if they donāt do their part in the world, something falls apart
When Time doesnāt maintain his grasp on uh- time, it goes all over the place
So
"We require no mortal names for we simply are and we shall continue to be long after mortal language fades from this world."
Hereās the dilemma
wise excuse for lazy naming myehehe
Time is the BBEG
BUT
The players canāt kill him
Or else everything goes to- everything goes horribly wrong
Sooo
How to deal with that
everything is frozen in time. So youre trying to find a way to beat an unkillable BBEG
Iām sure if they tried (and I wrote a stat block) they could
They could definitely kill him
But I donāt want them too
how i'd handle this is by having a very powerful entity, whether it be another god or an immensely powerful wizard give the party a scroll or wish spell that is able to put Time back in line
when that eventually arrives of course, Time would have to be weakened(?)
killing the most or second most powerful being in existence is not an easy feat for characters that reach demigod level
I actually know who the most powerful being is :D
Theyāre called The Cycle
God of Life & Death
But they have their own role to play
Oh right- so Time could be compared to a paranoid old man
He caused a major event 500 years prior to the campaign called the Corruption
All because he thought Memory was going to overthrow him
what id do is.....The entity known as time has an Avatar that has become corrupted. Time will not destroy there avatar because it is a part of themselves but the Avatar of time is causing tears in the fabric of reality wherever it goes. The characters would have to track down and destroy this minor avatar of time so that things may return to balance and they prevent there world as they know it from imploding due to a corrupt entity.
in the Odyssey of theros books there are actual stats for Avatars of the gods.
Id beef on of those up
Long story short he tried to kill Memory, Neutrality defended her. Those two idiots fought and fought, all while Time slowly lost his grip on time and it fast forwarded stupid fast back into one massive Pangea
depending on just how strong the players are
Iām hoping to get to level 20
Hm
So funny enough I kinda toyed with the avatar idea a little and formed it into something else
So deities in this setting can have Servants, and they can have more than one, in fact thatās going to a whole ordeal when they meet Harmony
But anyway the purpose of the Servants is to act in their deityās mindset put their ideas further into the world
Sometimes this can literally just be like āgrant miracles for people because you are Servant of Luckā
But it could also be helping to carry through plans to become more powerful than the rest of The Concept combined
Could be anything
sorry Iām rambling now lmao
It's all good.
Sounds like you're talking about angels, planetars and the like instead of avatars
Lol
Nah these people can be anyone
Thereās a dude whoās a Servant of Chaos who plays a huge role in a playerās backstory
You mean a Herald?
Oakes is just a human noble
Ughhhh I'm a police witness now.
Fun session?
No. Actual life lol. I was on the freeway when a semi truck slammed into a car and spun it around a few times. I ended up parking my car, running across the freeway and helping the people that got hit. Then pushed the car to the side of the freeway so they won't get hit again. Then the cops arrived and took my information. Now I'm a witness to this and the cops are like we're going to call you soon. š©š«
Going to court is a hassle. Lol
Ah-
Just a reminder that this channel is for talking about tabletop and board games, and while I understand the trauma of witnessing that is very difficult, this might have been better posted in general chat since it doesn't have anything to do with boardgames. I am very sorry you had to go through that though, adrenaline is a hell of a drug.
Welp... guess who just started running their first custom dungeon
Hows that going? ^^
We just finished the session
Well gimme the deets šæ
The party's bard has been 'arrested' by someone from her past. The bard's player is playing her level 2 younger sister
Oh boy
They're using an escape tunnel that leads from the Ducal Castle to the River Quarter of the town
Since they're trying to get into the castle and not out of it, they're encountering things that are 'traps in reverse'
Oh?
The rogue stepped on a pressure plate, and hit the barbarian who was last in the marching order
Oh thatās amazing
Since if they were going the other way, the person at the front would've been hit
I also used my first mimic
A mimic!
This dungeon has two purposes: to be a nuisance to the party, AKA slow them down, and to teach them to play D&D. Their first dungeon (part of the module I'm running) was a small disaster, because they set off several traps and didn't manage to quite see through some of the things in wait
Oh nice
So this is me sort of being like 'okay, these are some things you should expect.' So for this first part of the dungeon, I had something they could loot (a silvered dagger), something they didn't think to expect (a mimic), a trap (an arrow that fired down the staircase, which is the one I mentioned) and a puzzle. The puzzle seems to have been the favourite so far, which is good. There's two more to go š
But now we have to wait for like, two weeks
Ah yikes
Iām currently trying to write a campaign to start running over the summer
Iām really proud of the idea but Iām really nervous
That's our usual schedule, once every other Friday, since one of our people is in the American navy (I'm a Brit, I have two other Brits, one French person and four 'Muricans)
Is this your first ever time DM'ing, or are you experienced with modules and the like?
First time DMāing, Iād rather write than use a module
That's fair, and completely understandable. For me, I'm using a module and throwing in custom parts from people's backgrounds, since I don't have the time or the anxiety medication to write a full campaign myself, but everyone has their preferred systems. š
What's your idea?
Oh boy, go get some snacks thisāll take a sec lmao
Got a whole bag of 'em to myself, online games are nice that way
Basically my campaign takes place on the continent (and pangea) Omula. The story will happen 500 years after something known as The Corruption Event, where all the continents of the world came together in a matter of five minutes. Nobody really knows why this happened, and is being investigated constantly.
The party will work under an investigation team called SCRF, lead by a tiefling woman named Strong who has the goal to be the first person to discover the truth of The Corruption. She will have the party head out into the world to hunt for clues and leads in one part of the continent, while she searches another.
Thatās what the party will know
I have 7 technically 10 deities in my world, itās a little complicated lmao
(And then 11 if you count another) BUT ANYWAY
Thereās Time, Neutrality, Memory, War, Peace, Luck, and Love
Thereās also Chaos and Harmony but not yet
These 7 deities form the pantheon called The Concept
The Corruption was caused Time, Neutrality, and Memory
Long story short Time began to grow paranoid of Memory randomly and planned to himself to end her life and take her power. Suddenly he made a move to hopefully accomplish this goal, fortunately Neutrality happened to be there and defended Memory so she could get to safety. During the fight Time lost his control on legitimate time in the multiverse, causing it to fast forward, which is what caused the Pangea. Also during the fight Neutrality became split into the gods Chaos and Harmony.
The playerās secret goal will be to restore Neutrality
Iām using SCRF as a means to allow the players to explore the world and maybe uncover some little mini plots along the way who knows
But Iām very excited
Wow I just spammed I am so sorry
No worries, I was doing some moderator stuff in another server, and that's probably over the discord character limit anyway š
Hmm, so the party is hired by a team of investigators to find the threads that lead to the answer of what happened.
Okay, I kind of like this idea, but I do have to ask what the plan is for the low-level? Because going after gods and such is a high-tier job
Yeah basically theyāre just going after clues lead to the truth about the Corruption
Hmm.
Again, this feels high-level. Where are you imagining the party will start out? Level 1? 5? 10?
3
Mm.
Thereās a campaign Im in that started taking out powerful nobles at level 3
And itās the same group
Yes, but there's a difference between people and literal gods. š So while I do love this idea, I would maybe adapt it a little. Perhaps there's an unnatural abyss that formed in the world after this fast-forward of time, and the SCRF as a whole works more to delve into this zone.
Just a suggestion, I don't want to take control of your story.
Iāll sort it out as I go along
Itās not an immediate deep dive into god territory
Though we deep dived at level 6..
Itāll be fine
Mm, I expected that. It is just somewhat daunting to hear 'they're looking for clues to find out what a god did' without much context š
They donāt know the gods did it
But again, I don't know the full scope of your plans
āNobody knows how it happenedā
Those who have any idea kind of see it as a whodunnit situation
No, but you told me what happened, and as someone who likes to think of themselves as a writer, I was wondering where the leap came in.
Yeah that is a bridge I have to make
It's hard to explain, but I trust that you know your vision and can work out the specifics.
OH RIGHT
One of my players before the campaign started may or may not have met Luck
Oh?
Iām really glad itās him too
Him as in Luck or him as in players?
Basically I had all of my players randomly roll a d2/flip a coin
Tails/2 was meet a specific deity
Only one of my players did it
I have four
Well, I suppose you could call that... lucky.
Basically while the party is running around searching for clues Memory has been at work trying to fix what Time and Neutrality did
Now whatās kind of unique about this pantheon is usually they can come together in a demi plane that comes from the will of all 7, however Memory.. can literally cast modify memory at will basically. She made the other 6 forget how to create that Demi plane and trapped herself in a different one
As sheās still kind of sort of afraid of Time
So are these gods equal in power or are there discrepancies?
So because of this, War, Peace, Luck, and Love are trapped on the material plane, and Time is trapped on a Demi plane too
Discrepancies
Itās how I can allow four gods to be trapped on the material plane
Is Memory on the high end or low end of power? Seems like she's somewhere in the middle.
Time, Memory, and Neutrality are the strongest three
Follows this order
So, these other gods - since they're trapped on the mortal plane, are they technically mortal? Or do they have their full power?
Full power
War and Peace are both kind of in a dormant state
Luck likes to travel and mess with chance, and Love just likes to travel
I use Pinterest for all the npcs Iāll have but this is Luck
I love him so much I think heās my favorite after Chaos
Who I need to find art for
Just take a picture of yourself, that should work.
After all, you are, in fact, the Embodiment of Chaos š
Ay
Heeeey, while I don't mind using art for personal purposes and such, if you're gonna post it here it's always better to give the artist's name or link : https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ba8Xqk
a respectable pirate, our auntie
And something to keep in mind is also that artists don't usually like it if you take their oc and put it into your world, if you use them as a reference for your players that's mostly okay but probably don't show it off in an unrelated setting like here ā¤ļø
As an artist, I second this
I had a friend try to use my art for a character despite it already being my character, it's not cool
Jesus that must feel even worse when a friend does it to you wtf :( sorry that happened to you
Yeah it did not feel great, but he was understanding after I explained it to him
That's good at least!
Ahhhh my new poker cards finally arrived! I'll be using them in case any of my players want there characters to go gambling and play actual poker.
Those are fantastic.
Oh, sweet
those are so pretty!
The amount of characters that I've made these past couple of weeks offline is incredibly worrying. I really miss DnD sessions with my friends š¢
Really wish Discord had some sort of captioning service so I could have stayed in the campaign we were running before the lockdown
You mean closed captions?
Guys I found a funny podcast I think youāll like
Itās called Queens of adventure itās drag queens playing d&d
I found a group to play d&d with I think
And I need help deciding on a character
What sort of adventure is the group playing?
Oh queens of adventure is great, I only watched a few episodes though
Yes. š
Idk if that helps but Google meet does have automated cc! They're far from perfect but it helps imo
Idk yet it hasnāt officially started
Doesnāt start til June
And the DM hasnāt told you what sort of things to expect?
Not yet I literally just found out today
Any idea what characters anyone else is playing?
Nope like I said I was just told about it today
Heyy I'm starting a D&D Odyssey campaign soon with a couple of friends and I decided to play a half-Satyr. Anyone have any opinions or tips for this?
Hm. Are you asking for tips on how to homebrew/play a half-satyr?
Kind of, I think, because the handbook doesn't explicitly say anything about half-minotaur/satyr/siren/etc.
Well, typically it's because those aren't races that you get half of š š
Hahahah fair enough
If you had to ask me, I'd just use the Satyr race from MOT. Keep your creature type as humanoid. And depending on whether or not you want the horns/legs, remove the relevant traits, Ram/Mirthful Leaps
Hmmmm so there's a new ua called Gothic lineages, they have vampires and stuff like that, but the idea behind them is basically that you can be descendant of any creature, maybe you could look into how they handle those and get some ideas?
I have a half fire genasi half tiefling and I just... Made her a fire genasi mechanically but gave her tiefling features
It depends on if you actually want the mechanics to mix too or if you're cool with just showing the mix through anesthetics
Ah, yes, showing the mix through knocking people out using drugs
Ooh thanks, both of you! I'll look into all of that!
Anesthetics, I'm tired okay š
HAHAH
Aesthetics no longer exist, only anesthetics.
I'm typing aesthetics!!!! Stop it!!
Yeah I think I need to go to sleep š
Easthetics are anesthetics from the Eastern Hemisphere.
They need to make the feywild traits from fey wanderer rangers from tashas cauldron to be useable for fairies I mean theyāre obviously gonna make a feywild book they made a gothic unearthed arcana and only months later announced ravenloft
So itās coming weāve been waiting for too long for it to not be coming
Question is will they add the unearthed arcana Dragonborn new sub races to it
Also if they donāt make the feywild wanderer rangers traits useable for fairies Iāll be so disappointed
Cuz itās literally fey traits they should be able to use them
I want flowers in my fairy ocs hair
And butterflies that follow the flowers
Also itās a missed opportunity that druids canāt have animal companions like rangers
Writing about important warriors in a campaignās setting and history is fun
But cant you just have it as a part of your character doing it ? Since its not exactly a gameplay Change, your dm should be okay using the cosmetic Change from feywild gifts
I would Actually use the odyssey satyr more than anything since being fey is more likely to be benefit you. Since you get to avoid effects targeting humanoids such as hold person etc. Plus magic resistance is VERY powerful.
The reason I said to make them a humanoid instead is because the one instance I can think of where a non-humanoid and a humanoid have had offspring is the half-dragon.
Idk much about offsprings and what cant etc. At that point anything is a stretch
Okay so I just joined a new d&d group were having a session 0 tomorrow but I canāt decide which character to use weāre doing lost mines of phandelver
This guy is inspired by my sisters rabbit and Reepichiep from the chronicles of narnia
I have a Druid fairy inspired by my sister who Iām planning to make a circle of wildfire Druid
Cuz my sister used to have a weird obsession with fire
Lastly is this
I was originally gonna make her a wizard, because it makes sense sheās an owl person, but I decided on ranger
Idk which one Iām gonna pick but I have an idea- like they wake up in the middle of nowhere with no memory and a sealed letter that has some kinda magic keeping it closed so they canāt open it themselves
Maybe they find out as their memory slowly returns that they have a little sister that they have to get back to because sheās the only family the character has and the sister needs them
Reepicheep would be fantasic. Do you know what the rest of the party is playing?
Reepichiep is still a fantastic character to emulate.
Was not sure what class to make him though
And heās got floppy ears instead of the perky ones
White with black speckles
He's like a brash rogue... Does 5e have a swashbuckler?
Idk
But I know one player is being a Goliath
I wasnāt thinking rogue actually like heās not scary but he acts tough
It does, apparently. Rogue subclass.
Hmm...
Do rogues always have to be scary? I can't think of another class that would fit off the top of my head, sorry.
nah rogues can be anything you want, they don't have to be scary at all if you don't wanna
Part of the fun for me with playing memory loss characters is leaving the backstory open for the dm to play with, ofc that depends on the dm too but
yhe, my rouges are typically the types of people you wouldn't expect to be rouges, the "hey, hello! what's your name? my name's x!" sweet, hyper sugar high lovelies
Ah
Nah this guy is more like heās cute but if somebody calls him cute or sweet heāll literally fight you
I know it super tempting to put like. Everything into a characters backstory but remember you're doing collaborative storytelling and not writing a book, try to only write down what your character would actually know :D
But his sister (if I go that route) is the equivalent of Lucy in narnia where she can call him that, cuz sheās his best friend
I love characters that go completely against their archetypes, it's so fun
my currently played character is a "I'll shoot you with your own toothpick" ranger
But also the others seem cool too I canāt decide
I mean, he doesn't really have a choice but to shoot toothpicks considering his size, but ya' know
An owl person ranger
A fairy circle of wildfire Druid
Has a creepy fire obsession and likes to burn crap up
Like Lily in the beginning of pitch perfect (I set fires to fuel joy)
mother hen rogues, soft barbarians, bards who just wanna make people smile and be happy
Warlocks that didn't choose their patron, but was forced into the patronage and can't get out
Sometimes what helps me decide is looking at the party constellation and the adventure in general if that helps you any?
All I know is weāre doing lost mines of phandelver
Idk about it I just know it came with one of the starter kits
There's also the half ogre
If anyone needs any players tell me. The DnD game I'm in is on deaths soor
aawww that sucks
has anyone here played / heard of wanderhome? uwu
I have not but looking at it gives me some serious redwall vibes.
it's sort of like redwall, except it's also fundamentally anchored on healing from trauma and everyones' fundamental right to be loved
its very cozy in a somber way
no violence wahtsoever
That might be interesting to bring up to one of my groups. Theyāre not very combat focused, they might like something like that.
definitely try wanderhome! it's beautifully written and constructed :D!
Theyāre currently set up to play Curse of Strahd. Something soft might be good in the off weeks
i m actually playing curse of strahd rn myself. really really fun, depending on the DM of course but as far as i know its a great story.
i think its also supposely one of the harder ones?
It can be! Iāve been a player in a Curse of Strahd game that has been going for about three years, and itās rough, but with a good DM itās really fun too
looks at my level 3 party of five + noble statblock + literal child who faced up against ||a literal coven of night hags.|||| Reminder: A night hag on her own has a CR of 5; she can cast magic missile at will. It's already meant to be a deadly challenge. When we add in a coven, each hag's CR goes up by 2, meaning they're each CR 7. Three creatures, each with a CR 7, all of whom cannot miss, versus a level 3 party.||
The only reasons we survived that encounter was one: our DM is kind enough not to kill us in what was, like, our third combat, two: the Man Himself showed up, and three: I managed to roll a nat20 and roll 20 damage on a level 1 guiding bolt with Channel Divinity: Path to the Grave. Total: 80 damage.
To this day, I shall never surpass myself, because god damn. Quite literally.
Congrats. It's hard enough getting a grave cleric to set up for another cleric as is when they'd rather set up path to the grave for a paladin or a rogue.
Oh, no, it was all me.
I played the grave cleric š
No one attacked the creature for a whole round?
Everyone else was stunned or something?
sheeeeeeeeeeeesh. we basically avoided that encounter. for now atleast
Dying or occupied with the other hags
Also my character was a protector aasimar, and my wings were out, so I was basically the only one who could get to her.
Oof.
Was just asking cuz typically grave clerics can't path to the grave and cast guiding bolt in the same round and greedy players tend to go I'm gonna attack it anyway even though you have a plan.
Yeah, no, everyone else was locked down. Gunslinger fighter, bard, rogue, and sorcerer were in melee with the two other hags or were unconscious and dying. I had done it for the sorcerer, since he had some high-damage spells left, but again, locked down.
Question. Can we post dnd memes in here?
I would say yes as it is ttrpg related
Plus people have done it a few times
But I'm not a mod so I can't really say it with confidence
It's okay~!
One message removed from a suspended account.
I appreciate those.
I m glad you do <3
Ayo I suggest a dnd podcast called just roll with it if anyone is interested
Starting a new TTRPG today using a system I've never used (AGE) about a game I've never played (Dragon Age) but I'm super excited because I have the best character ever
Dark sun possibly but that's an old 1st edition setting.
I hear they may port it over to 5th edition.
I mean like ttrpgs not just campaign settings
Ten Candles, perhaps?
savage worlds is quite a flexible system
My kitty Akuma...he was playing the dragon for our game...or at least our poor little characters would have thought that. Lol
The campaign wasn't going well anyways lmao!!!
World of Darkness has some awesome post apoc settings, theyāve got modern horror and such as well, great if you like mystery and horror
Has anyone played the Burning Wheel System before? I'm a long time 5e player, and I've been wanting to try Burning Wheel for like 3 years now š
Oh there is
Have y'all read the books? I haven't š
Books as in player handbook? If so, yeah, slowly but surely š
I've been meaning to š it's intimidating for me tho
Looots of info In there yeah
I am planning not one but three different tabletop games atm.
a Vampire the Requiem 2e game, A Legend of the Five Rings 4e game, annnnnnnd an Achtung! Cthulhu game.
That's impressive!
Impressive, but a little funny when my notes get mixed up just "Huh, what's the Third reich doing summon Cthulhus in Rokugan..."
Lmao apparently they released a monopoly dnd edition
Yes, and Iām $20 from being able to afford it š
There's also d&d clue.
Hey guys! I'm once again looking for up to 2 new players to join in my campaign! It's the same one from my last post.
The group has had the parasites and worked towards investigating them. They've found an organization of people who they think can help, but before they share their resources the group has to go through a pilgrimage across several continents to visit important places that will help them to understand the organization.
The group is level 7 and they meet every Friday at 7PM CST. Official books and Unearthed arcana is allowed. The setting his home-brew along with some extra rules for tool sets that I feel don't get enough attention.
Just shoot me a DM if you're interested
Rise up! Kindred of London! To long have we lived under the yoke of the Invictus Tyrant who styles himself a monarch of old. Rise up! Take arms Brothers and Sisters there is a Revolution calling! Rise up! We have nothing to lose but our chains! The Cries of revolution fill the smoke filled dens of the Carthian Movement, their numbers are many and they have been held back by the Invitcus and their restrictive laws and unfair definition of Justice.
There are two slots open right now, I am running it on Roll20 and if you're interested of have questions hit me up here with a DM. This is a Vampire the Requiem 2nd edition game that will follow the build up to a Carthian Revolution, along with the Revolution itself and the Aftermath. Will the Revolution succeed? Will it betrayed? and what role will you play in it?
Love my friends dearly, but oof can they not do campaigns
hey hey š a bit late to the party but super happy that i found this group.
I haven't got a chance to play any D&D campaigns yet but would love to try out if you have any newbies group.
I am more into all kinds of other boardgames, especially economics, area control, worker placement genres. Games i've played & love (included but not limited to) Scythe, Unlock!, Brass, Everdell, Gentes, The Gallerist, & trickerion. So if anyone would like to play now & then in Boardgamearena/ steam, hit me up š„³
I'm finally gonna be able to return to monthly board game nights with my friends in June and am super pumped.
Plus, I've almost got my next homebrew D&D game ready to go and am brewing a cosmic horror sorta campaign for another system
Don't mind me, I'm just researching the history of gold in Virginia for the Monster of the Week game I'm running
Learn anything cool/monstrous about the gold in Virginia yet?
Mostly just where to find it and the differences between it and pyrite
So if you ever go to Virginia, you'll be ready to find some gold and maybe fight a monster on the way
Indeed, but only fairies.
I came up with a cooler monster idea but next time
Monster of the Week is a neat system, although I think PbtA systems in general are really slick.
Idk about Virginia but I do know that the first US gold rush took place in Dahlonega, GA. Thanks 8th grade state history š
Virginia was the place for a while. Basically campaign is established to take place in Virginia and the fae are attacking people who find gold in the river
I now want to join and be an undercover fae
since board games go here
i just wanna point out
quite a few board games like for example
betrayal at house on the hill is a rogue like
(well technically a rogue lite due to one haunt in the expansion)
Betrayal is a fun game, if not occasionally clunky. Betrayal at Baldur's Gate is also fun for a D&D twist on it
oh ik the rules are written like they played 1 game of it
when i say 1 game i mean 1 collectively
I'd love to play Betrayal but I don't have folks to play it with.
