#

I just tried it and it worked, and I REALIZED WHAT THE DIFFERENCE WAS

#

I used HIGHER QUALITY wasabi before

sudden bluff
#

I just used silver quality though O_O

turbid mason
#

-squints- -goes out to hunt more wasabi-

sudden bluff
#

let me try with a nq one

#

okay I have normal and gold quality, time to test

#

Uh

#

I

#

I don't think it's fixed

#

I got one green smoothie AND one wasabi paste

dapper imp
#

oh is it random??

sudden bluff
#

the smoothie was from nq and the wasabi paste from gold quality

#

time to test with MORE nq wasabi

dapper imp
#

I wonder if it just randomly chooses a recipe to make if the input meets the requirements for more than one

sudden bluff
#

tested with 4 nq wasabi

2 paste 2 smoothie

turbid mason
#

But... I got the paste from nq

#

What

#

Weird

sudden bluff
#

Yeah I think Kalinka is right, it seems to coin flip on this

dapper imp
turbid mason
#

And... hilarious

#

Like you don't know what you're going to make until you pour it out of the blender and taste it

dapper imp
#

the farmer randomly deciding if they want a wasabi smoothie this time

sudden bluff
#

'it all looks the same'

#

'green paste'

dapper imp
#

and tastes too!

sudden bluff
#

i mean after all the poison our farmers stuff into their mouths I'm amazed they can taste

turbid mason
#

"oh god, it's weirdly sweet this time, I guess it's... a smoothie?"

#

"yeah we'll just tell people we did it on purpose"

sudden bluff
#

i feel like there's two identical bottles on my farmer's shelf, both wasabi

'for sushi' and 'for drinking'

#

'oops i guess i blended it a bit too much'

#

... hmmmmmm

#

I WONDER

dapper imp
#

they just chug from whatever they feel like

sudden bluff
#

i just blended 13 wasabi in an attempt to tell if stopping it early changed it

#

the answer is 'not that i can tell'

turbid mason
#

😮 Jim can send a Red Snapper? Time to scum like hell for it...

sudden bluff
#

...*throwing more cane nectar his way

turbid mason
#

He only sends it in spring, which is when shiitake grow anyway..

sudden bluff
#

Aha I knew there was a reason I saved all those forageables

not wasabi smoothies, nope

#

Totally not wasabi smoothies

turbid mason
#

Interestingly, I did learn from my game bugging and resetting to Spring 10 that you can't scum for overnight events.

#

It must set at sleep / save.

#

Oh, but I did get a different thing from my geode!

turbid mason

Aha! Important data point: snagged a Jellyfish at 4:50pm, and Jellyfish hooks in evening / night

Hello Wiki Editors! Where exactly is garden lane? I always thought it was the road Milli's house was on (according to a 2020 tweet from the Coral island twitter account), but the Wiki says it's the road that leads from the woodlands to town that the carpenters and vineyard are on.

dapper imp
#

here it is on the island map

ashen hinge
#

Okay, thanks! They must have changed their minds between 2020 and now lol.
What's the name of the road millie's house is on? I always thought that was garden lane because of this tweet. (No wonder I can't find things lol 😆 )

there seems to be a consumable missing in "likes vs. dislikes" tab called "Popiah"

#

folks, excuse me my seemingly stupid question, but how positively sure (= officially confirmed!) we are that clearing coral sites counts towards town ranking? I got rank E only completing 2 offerings and having 50+ in museum. next, i started to track closely that indicator in town hall, and after clearing coral sites it barely moves - since at the same time I donated a few more thing to museum. Anyone?

https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Town_rank whoever put this together I love you you're my hero, grab that cookie!.. 🍪 at last, more or less precise scoring, not guessing and rumors all over the place

Coral Island Wiki

Town rank is a feature in Coral Island introduced early on in the game. The town rank affects store inventories, crops and seeds available to the player, farm animals the player can purchase and raise, among other things. The layer can raise town's rank by donating to the museum, completing temple offerings, and cleaning ocean while diving. Town...

cerulean flare
dapper imp
#

I've kept the existing estimates. I'd love to replace them with more precise numbers tho

carmine chasm
#

I am closing in on C rank in a new playthrough, so I’ll try to help narrow that one down a bit. It looks like the points for “expand the museum” is one of the unimplemented “fame” elements? Otherwise I’d already be over 800.

dapper imp
#

or the requirement is higher

#

the museum expansion is 50 points and it's enabled. I'll double check now

carmine chasm
#

It looks like it must be higher. I cleared a few more solar orbs and according to the points values for everything I’m at 874 with the museum expansion, 824 without, and still have a ways to go on the town board for C rank.

dapper imp
#

yeah it's enabled

#

the points are listed like that so idk how to tell the values

#

are those positions on the total point scale?

carmine chasm
#

I’m not sure what you mean - I just added up the points listed in the chart for each kind of element - sesajen, healed corals, donations, and museum expansion.

dapper imp
#

you said you should be C, right?

#

hmmm

carmine chasm
#

If it’s 800 points (the upper range of the estimate) then I’d be over that, but the town board still shows some distance to go to reach C

dapper imp
#

maybe it's about 950 points actually?

carmine chasm
#

The museum just opened “today,” though, so it’s possible it doesn’t count that until the next game day?

#

I’ll check again after sleeping.

dapper imp
#

if you're at 874 you might need 75 more if my math is right 🤔

#

if it's not when I have no idea how those are counted, sorry 🥲

dapper imp
#

man, 75 is a lot of points, considering a museum item is only 3 points

carmine chasm
#

Yeah, I’ll keep track - I’ve got 3 more solar orbs to find and I’ll have the summer sesajen in a few more in-game days, so getting that extra 75 is not too much of a problem 😄

dapper imp
#

yeah if you do the offering and all three solar orbs it should tip you over. could you try doing them on, say, separate days? for science

carmine chasm
#

That’s the plan 😄

dapper imp
#

I really need a way to tell those values. and if they're simple positions of the scale I can easily count them

#

hmm actually all my numbers would be higher that the estimates we currently have on the wiki

#

rank B would be about 1,760 points

#

that's. a lot

#

but I also don't know where the numbers on the wiki came from 😅

#

if they're indeed rough estimates they might as well be off several hundred points

#

but if the ranks are indeed the proportions of the whole scale, the point requirements should become even higher once they add those fame actions

carmine chasm
#

Oh, hey, I still have it noted down when I hit rank D on this playthrough. I’m pretty sure it’s close to exact because I wanted to buy strawberry seeds in Spring to have for the greenhouse and was checking after each museum donation.

#

I was at 2 sesajen (100), 10 solar orbs (100), and 70 museum donations (210) so 410 total. Pickstarter begun but the museum wasn’t expanded yet.

dapper imp
#

hmm interesting

#

if I take the numbers I have it's about 480

sudden bluff
#

Huh, I'm looking at the donation numbers and if everything is purely 3 until you get a completion bonus
I wonder what's causing the range of donations needed from people who say they've done everything

#

Like, they may have missed one solar orb, but that would just account for 3-4 donation differences, not this giant range people are claiming to have

#

unless it's from people who manage to complete gems

dapper imp
#

is town rank tracked anywhere on megasheet?

sudden bluff
#

Nope

#

Not beyond 'this unlocks at town rank D'

dapper imp
#

the unlocks are much easier to tell than points

#

I just don't know math I guess 🙃

#

I do think the current approximates on the wiki are off though

dapper imp
#

I think I'm going to trim the cooking recipes a bit on individual item pages 🤔 do we really need to list all recipes asking for any fruit / vegetable / mushroom there?

carmine chasm
#

Probably not. I’d say the item pages only would need to list “counts as a [fruit] for recipes” or something like that.

dapper imp
#

yeah and those few recipes that require that specific item

carmine chasm
#

Right, I just meant instead of the any-fruit recipe list. If there were only a small number of “Any X” recipes it might make sense to list all, but there are so many it would be hard to sort through for, say, “how many of [specific fruit] do I need to keep to make one of each recipe?” uses of the wiki.

sudden bluff
#

yeah i like that, you can just link it back to the recipes page for the 'any x'

dapper imp
#

okay folks, I think the quality for some items messes up the testing data on megasheet

#

because if a person loves items that can have quality markers they apparently love only basic quality one 🥴

turbid mason
#

What.

dapper imp
#

a category preference, however, applies to the items in the whole category

#

so Anne should love a base quality carrot but like higher quality ones

sudden bluff
#

oh.

#

oh no.

turbid mason
#

That's... I don't think anyone was paying attention to that...

dapper imp
#

would anyone be able to test that?

turbid mason
#

Is it only for loves?

dapper imp
#

if not with Anne I can give you another character

Uh let me get on my game, I think I have daffodils of different qualities for Betty, will that work?

dapper imp
dapper imp
dapper imp
turbid mason
#

Okay so... Anything that's disliked shouldn't change per quality?

dapper imp
#

if it's non quality item then it should be fine

dapper imp
turbid mason
#

Like if Wataru generally dislikes fish except for liking or loving some - if I gave him a bronze rainbow fish...

dapper imp
sudden bluff
#

oh shit i've maxed with her for the week

#

um

#

let me check

dapper imp
#

non base quality items should use their group preference

#

wow that's. so weird. they should add checks for that

turbid mason
#

That's gonna fuck up so much of the sheet

dapper imp
#

not necessarily, most of those items are ruled by group preferences

turbid mason
#

We have no idea whether someone gave a different quality item

dapper imp
#

if a person dislikes vegetables they would dislike them all regardless of the quality

crystal lantern
dapper imp
#

however. if they dislike all vegetables but have only one assigned as a like, that like would only be valid for the base quality of that vegetable

#

does it make sense?

sudden bluff
#

okay can I check
is coffee bean listed as a vegetable

#

because it's what it's labelled as ingame

dapper imp
#

it's grain

sudden bluff
#

*thunk

dapper imp
#

Raj loves it

sudden bluff
#

wait i t still works

#

Raj dislikes grain

#

ok let me go throw this at him

dapper imp
#

waiting anxiously

#

it'd be huge if true

turbid mason
#

I am not okay about how much data this might invalidate

dapper imp
#

I don't think it's intentional if it is tho. more like an oversight

turbid mason
#

Yeah. Like how you can't use higher quality items in recipes.

sudden bluff
#

bronze quality coffee bean

dapper imp
#

yeah that's because of how the items are handled in the game

sudden bluff
#

and it got added to the loves list (i had given him coffee but not coffee beans before)

dapper imp
#

oh good, that means it's handled somewhere

turbid mason
#

Thank goodness

#

Crisis averted

sudden bluff
#

i will test with a few others, let me check

dapper imp
#

yeah might be your usual mistakes on the megasheet then

sudden bluff

OK charles you're in for a treat

turbid mason

Titan arum for Charles 😈

sudden bluff
#

Bronze violet registered as neutral

dapper imp
#

Charles is not allergic to violets of all flowers

sudden bluff
#

i wonder how he reacts to cacti

turbid mason
#

Hate

dapper imp
#

but yeah it's his neutral for some reason

turbid mason
#

I tried that before - but not high quality

sudden bluff
#

Aw, I was just wondering because you'd think cacti would be more, er, hypoallergenic than ... I mean... violets

turbid mason
#

Maybe he thinks violets are food

#

It's not like he inhales them to check before throwing them out XD

dapper imp
#

Yuri's actually neutral towards cacti

turbid mason
#

Her response when you give her a flower (generally) is "I can't eat this" so maybe it's because you can, in fact, pickle the cactus XD

sudden bluff
#

yep okay, third time's the charm
Kenny + silver soybean = love, previously not registered but now is

#

probably someone put in the wrong column because the sheet is very dense

dapper imp
#

man the megasheet isn't accurate for gifts

#

I'll have to doublecheck stuff with in game data, ugh

turbid mason
#

I've tried very hard T_T

sudden bluff
#

the problem with the gifting megasheet is that it's really, really dense and there are many people filling in the data, so one slip overrides a lot

dapper imp
#

I've found two errors and looked at two items so far

#

that's very high error rate imo

sudden bluff
#

the layout is beautiful but does not go with the sheer user load

dapper imp
#

fiiiine I'll double check with the files

sudden bluff
#

hmm

turbid mason
#

How about cotton

sudden bluff
#

cotton for?

turbid mason
#

Double checking against the data

#

I believe I'm the only one who touched that row and the reactions were diverse

sudden bluff
#

i tried a few, let me check my pages as well

dapper imp
#

cotton's mostly disliked

#

it actually has no gift category so it's assigned per person

turbid mason
#

A few people liked it - I think Lily and Archie

dapper imp
#

uhh Pablo should be neutral towards all vegetables but the megasheet lists a mix of neutral and liked

sudden bluff
#

any you want me to test in particular?

dapper imp
#

Carrot
Cucumber
Eggplant
Lettuce
Potato
Radish

#

these are the ones listed as liked but they all should be neutral

#

unless something like the quality's messing with it

#

I have some carrots lettuce and potatoes I can test

turbid mason
#

Wish i could help - later tonight I'll be back

sudden bluff
#

i have cucumber

#

wait i don't have cucumber, i used it up and it hasn't regrown
i have radish

dapper imp
#

Macy is also listed as liking some vegetables she shouldn't

sudden bluff
#

Bronze radish gets the "That's solid" response

#

it's neutral

dapper imp
#

yeah the megasheet is likely wrong

#

Macy says "this is lovely" but that doesn't mean she liked the gift 🙃

#

ugh

#

Leah's vegetable preferences are also a mess

#

she should dislike all of them

#

except three

#

yeah okay test gifted Pablo, all neutral

#

well I guess I need to check all the crops on the wiki now 😑

sudden bluff
#

I can test gift Leah... once I find her on the map

dapper imp
#

okay Chard actually should take 6 days

#

not 8 as in megasheet or on the wiki

sudden bluff
#

Sorry checking spring crop seeds now

#

yeah chard says 6 days in game, I think the 8 days is a result of filtering

dapper imp
#

okay if anyone happens to have any clear screenshots of crops on their field in different crop stages the wiki will be glad to have those

sudden bluff
#

I can set that up for various ones in a bit

dapper imp
#

they don't need to be in a neat line, I can crop them

#

it's difficult to add days when they're all on one image

sudden bluff
#

wait I
is sugarcane 2 days to regrow or 1 day to regrow

dapper imp
#

"isRegrowable": true, "regrowableLength": 0,

#

yeah that's 1 day

#

every day

sudden bluff
#

okay, thanks

#

it said 2 on the sheet ._.

dapper imp
#

I get the reason behind making the sheet public but those things always have so many inaccuracies

#

with no accountability, at least on the wiki I can see who and then made the edit, in spreadsheet it's all anonymous

#

is Wataru really neutral for daisy and peony? he should like them, he barely has any gifting data past universals

sudden bluff
#

he likes peony

sudden bluff
#

...I know what's making the likes sheet so hard to read for me

#

wait

#

omfg

#

you know that letter from suki that says 6 pm?

#

and how everyone has been like, 'it's not triggering'

#

...it triggered for me, just now, at /8.30 pm/

#

and not before

dapper imp
#

interesting, the trigger's listed as 18:00

sudden bluff
#

yeah, I saw a lot of people complaining
I may have misread something, but I'm very sure that it triggered at 8.30 pm because I'd just bought a bunch of stuff from Ratih

#

does it say how long that trigger is supposed to last, like... does it not trigger if you go past 1900 or something?

#

i remember a LOT of people complaining it didn't trigger

#

but what I'm wondering is, maybe it only triggers from a specific entrance...

dapper imp
#

18:00 to 21:00

#

yeah the trigger area might be finicky

#

but those aren't the easiest to find

sudden bluff
#

hmmm dang it I can't re-test

dapper imp
#

it's simply listed as "west beach" iirc

turbid mason
#

It happened for me just after I exited my farm to the south

sudden bluff
#

the staircase directly south?

turbid mason
#

No, went over the bridge and a few steps

#

The cutscenes have REALLY broad trigger zones

sudden bluff
#

yeah they do
I ran from the lookout after buying stuff and it triggered when I went down to the stairs

dapper imp
sudden bluff
#

I just remember seeing people saying they didn't get it to trigger somehow, or I may be misremembering

#

hmm

#

oh well, as long as it works

turbid mason
#

Yeah, a lot of people have had trouble triggering particular things

sudden bluff
#

sorry I only happen to have this poppy one atm, will it work for your cropping:

dapper imp
#

yeah I think I can use those three, thank you!

or are the seeds also poppy?

"It seems that the letter is sent by giving 14 gifts or the sum of 5 hearts with people." descriptor in the secret shop section is probably not right btw, because Im an antisocial farmer who gave maybe 6 gifts maximum and had like, 2 or 3 hearts total when I got the letter lol

Are the upgrades to the hot springs included on the wiki somewhere? I can confirm that the energy-per-beat increases from 3 to 5 at four sesajen completed.

carmine chasm
#

Found the bath house page on the wiki and added the energy increase note (and that, as far as I can tell, energy increases at the same rate in real time whether your game speed is set to 50% or 100%). I know it increases to +8 later, but I don’t know exactly how many sesajen are required for that bump so I didn’t put it on the page.

dapper imp
#

I'll take a look later

foggy dew
#

Does anyone know if these scavengables are split in separate sub-categories? From certain NPCs gifting patterns, it seems like they might be two groups.

carmine chasm
#

Hmm, I can’t say as far as the game code but 1 & 2 would be logical groups - green veggies/herbs vs. things that are more like fruits & nuts. Canola’s kind of its own thing, too, since it functions as both a flower (can make honey from it) and as an oil source.

dapper imp
#

I also think people are misunderstanding Macy or Pablo's neutral reactions to vegetables

#

Macy thank us but then it's. neutral

dapper imp
#

canola is a flower but it's a neutral one

#

nuts aren't a category in game. herbs are, and they're neutral, but so far it's only ginger, tea leaf, and basil

foggy dew
#

tomato I think is fruit

dapper imp
#

yeah it is

#

she dislikes both all fruit and all vegetables except those three

foggy dew
#

And I think you're right on the scavengables, the exceptions line up with fruit and vegetables.

dapper imp
#

it's weird how that eggplant is fruit tho

#

it's set as fruit in the db

#

for gifting it's fruit but there's also a vegetable tag 🥴

#

maybe they've made a mistake in one of those

#

folks should react to it when it's gifted as if it's a fruit

carmine chasm
#

I think it makes pickles rather than jam…

dapper imp
#

kegs / mason jars just don't take an item and process it using its group rules, they need it to be in their list with a product attached

#

so yeah, an item that's considered a fruit in other ways might as well be made into pickles

carmine chasm
#

Ah, got it.

dapper imp
#

I kinda get it with tomato (though in culinary sense it is mostly used as a vegetable), but an eggplant

#

anyway, out of this list, canola is the only one that should be neutral to most folks. it's categorized as a flower but almost everyone has it listed as an exception to "all flowers" rule

It is a universal neutral I think the evaluation order is

carmine chasm

The ghost in the ginseng area drops pears, too.

turbid mason
#

Oh, and the 3 Pears from the ghostie

carmine chasm
#

Okay, final results of my Rank C testing: Assuming the point values on the wiki are accurate and there's no weighting going on somewhere in the background, 993 points is still Rank D, and one more museum donation pushed that up to 996 points and Rank C.

#

That's with 4 sesajen completed (200 points), all 41 available coral sites healed (410), the expanded museum (50), and a total of 112 museum donations (336 points; 19 gems, 22 artifacts, 3 fossils, 21 fish, 40 insects, and 7 sea critters).

#

It's remotely possible that it was 999 instead, but I don't think I found and donated the gemstone beads (which doesn't show in the artifacts list but can be donated) in this playthrough.

dapper imp
#

thanks for sharing

#

I wonder what's going on with these points

carmine chasm
#

Yeah, 1000 would have made sense in a way that 994/995/996 doesn't.

dapper imp
#

maybe it's not a set value but a range of values that depend on some other factors

carmine chasm
#

Entirely possible!

dapper imp
#

because, say, with heart points and mastery they have hard numeric values

carmine chasm
#

Without comparing a bunch of people's detailed breakdowns it's hard to guess. Just adding my data point!

dapper imp
#

with town rank I'd assume the rank is a position on that total point curve

sudden bluff
#

I'm not doubting what you got but it seems like such an arbitrary number

carmine chasm
#

I know, right? I triple-checked all my museum donations to make sure I had the totals right. There are two donateable items I've encountered that don't show up on the list (gemstone beads and ruby are in the megasheet as "cannot be donated" but I was able to do so on my other playthrough -- they're just not on the list) but I'm certain I didn't give either of those on this save.

sudden bluff
#

Yeah I'll prob end up starting a new save soon to see what I can do

#

It's just reaaaaaally hard to let go of a Y2 one atm lol

carmine chasm
#

Yeah, I started a second save when my Y2 started to feel too grind-y and switch between them to keep from getting bored/try different things.

turbid mason
#

I'm on Y3 but a lot of my time is spent handing out hoarded gift items 🤣

dapper imp
#

could anyone check Cotton or Canola oil for Anne?

#

and maybe for Aaliyah

#

they both should like them if my guess about gift priorities is correct 🤔

turbid mason
#

Oh ack, I just closed the game >.<

#

I only have SQ cotton, does that matter?

dapper imp
#

it shouldn't

turbid mason
#

Anne likes the cotton

#

I don't see Aaliyah anywhere though

#

Yeah, she's in the void this morning

#

And Anne likes canola oil

sudden bluff
#

gonna throw canola oil at aaliyah

#

Aaliyah likes the canola oil

dapper imp
#

thank you both!

#

so it looks like group individual preferences do override individual item universals

#

does that mean they both like violets 🤔

#

oh wait, Anne does not because it's set as neutral for her, she only doesn't have those dislikes set

#

there's only a few characters like that, did they just forgot to set those

dapper imp
#

could anyone check basil for Bree when you have the time?

untold dove
#

will the artisan goods that come from the mason jar and beehouse be added to the megasheet?

dapper imp
dapper imp

turbid mason
#

Scott's got a weird reaction to fruit. He says "Oh yeah! Some fruits! Thanks!" but it's neutral.

dapper imp
#

yeah he's neutral towards all tree fruit. but not for others like tomatoes, berries, or pumpkin

#

Macy also sounds pretty enthusiastic about vegetables iirc. but it's neutral

turbid mason
#

Double checked the grape and he definitely liked it... it may have thrown off some peoples' assessments in the chart so now I'm eyeing all the discrepancies 🤣

dapper imp
#

I've just doublechecked all gift preferences on the wiki with the game files and updated that didn't quite match

#

at least they should stay accurate. for some time 😅

#

there are some items like wheat, canola oil, or cotton that give liked reactions in some instances that seem like an oversight rather than intentional

#

for Archie, Anne, and Rafael in particular

turbid mason
#

Does that mean we.. don't need to check like/dislikes any more?

dapper imp
#

strictly speaking, no, you don't

#

it's all available in the files

#

but also some folks prefer the megasheet to the wiki so it's all useful

#

okay I have a question. how do regrowing crops look when they're regrowing? do they use a model from one of their previous stages or some brand new model?

turbid mason
#

In most cases, at least, it's from a previous stage

#

Not sure about sugarcane since they look cut after you harvest them and I don't remember what they looked like when growing

dapper imp
#

thanks! we don't have the images for sugarcane yet anyway

turbid mason
#

I think the sell price should be included in recipe tables

#

So someone can easily determine if it's worth it to process, say, tomato into ketchup and sell

dapper imp
#

I can get those later

#

I doubt cooking is that profitable though 🤔

turbid mason
#

Some of them really are

#

Especially things like vegetable jerky and bug jerky

#

Grilled fish

#

10c fly turns into 235c jerky

dapper imp
#

yeah. the ones requiring stuff like artisan products or specific crops don't seem to be that great tho

#

yikes, fly jerky 🥴

#

so appetizing (not)

#

doubly appetizing if made from this fly the farmer found in a trash can

turbid mason
#

This is the farmer who downs a jug of wasabi paste 🤣

dapper imp
#

yeah what's a little bit of fly jerky

merry aspen

why are electronics all over the place :D btw how do i get more than blender? do they rotate weekly or something?

turbid mason
merry aspen

for seeds they actually have placeholders like {cropGrowTime} which then get replaced to avoid this kind of error

sudden bluff
#

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh but I guess they didn't do it for the electronics
because yeah a lot of people were like 'i have 3k for the frying pan how come i cannot buy it'

merry aspen
#

just took a quick look into the wiki, it shows the prices mentioned in text not the actual ones, maybe we should add a column there and tell people?

dapper imp
#

yeah the wiki needs to reflect the actual price you pay. and maybe a note about in game description not matching

dapper imp
#

has anyone tried gifting Joko yogurt? just not the large one

#

I wonder why this anon removed it from his loves

merry aspen
#

i iahve one in the making can gift him tomorrow

dapper imp
#

I'm guessing they've tried large yogurt and it was liked not loved but I always check those things when I can

#

what size of an area is watered during "Something water your farm last night" random event? 2x2?

#

hmm the instant crop growth also lists 2x2 but I remember it being larger

#

hmm I got the makeshift scarecrow area size the only time I got this event, maybe 2x2 is the minimum 🤔

turbid mason
#

Im pretty sure I've only seen 5x5

dapper imp
#

also, are meteorites already in game?

turbid mason
#

The ones that crash on your farm and you can mine? Yes, also satellites

dapper imp
dapper imp
#

I wonder if that wiki user tried large yogurt

#

it's weird how they should like large yogurt even if they love or hate regular one

pulsar elk
#

except for Millie, unless they fixed it

#

they probably just forgot about large stuff when assigning loves...

dapper imp
#

yeah it looks like they did

#

because it should be the same for cheese

dapper imp
#

satellite debris drops nothing, right? just obstructs some area

#

bronze meteor also drops nothing? do they drop anything at all?

carmine chasm
#

So far I've only gotten meteors that drop bronze ore. Back in alpha I had a satellite that dropped scrap when hit, but I haven't seen one in EA.

dapper imp
#

got it. the drops must be located somewhere else then

#

okay found those, they're in separate files

dapper imp
#

there's two sets of drops and I can't easily tell which one it uses

#

and how much scrap did satellite drop? also 20? or much less? it also lists Battery in drops

untold dove
#

the megasheet just has "Fruit Juice" as an item for likes and dislikes, are the likes for fruit juice universal? as in, if a townie likes one type of fruit juice, will they like all types of fruit juice?

dapper imp
#

it's a specific item in game, I doubt it applies to all juices

untold dove
#

ah gotcha. it would be nice to have all the variations listed

dapper imp
#

I don't think any of those artisan goods give special reactions, they're all liked

foggy dew
#

I heard somewhere that most artisan items can't even be gifted.

#

Haven't tested myself.

ruby sinew
#

they are fixing that on next update

dapper imp
#

so I'd assume those listed as ArtisanProduct might be non giftable

#

hmm though cane nectar is listed as one but it's giftable

#

🤷‍♀️

#

oh wait it's not cane nectar

#

those are most juices, butter

#

some (?) cheese

#

pickles and jams

#

mayo, oils, basic cheese, yogurt, coffee (not large), alcohol, dyes, tea, cane nectar, and cloth seem to be tagged properly so should be giftable

#

kind of a mess 🥴

foggy dew
#

Those are not intuitive differences, so def hope it's getting fixed as purga said

dapper imp
#

yeah it looks like it's an oversight

#

I assume they planned to have one item for things like all jams and all pickles and juices earlier in development because there are traces of that. but then replaced them with different items with a wrong tag. possibly

untold dove
#

i'm hoping the discrepancy between normal size and large size items is fixed

dapper imp
#

yeah it's weird and confusing right now

untold dove
#

i noticed the megasheet asks to only gift normal quality - do the townies like an item more if it's bronze+?

foggy dew
untold dove
#

oh that's weird

#

yeah that should also be fixed lmao

#

oh i just realized the flower category is split?

foggy dew
#

It's split for growable and foragable/scavengable

untold dove
#

oohhh

dapper imp
foggy dew
#

Yeah, I figured that out. I'm not sure if it's worth it to completely reformat the megasheet though if everything is just going to be transferred to the wiki soon.

pulsar elk
dapper imp
#

hmm it seems the double ore doesn't work for it at all then

#

even if it says it procs

#

it should always drop 20

sudden bluff
dapper imp
#

thanks. it looks like it uses those fixed drops for every type

#

I've added them

sudden bluff
#

Well I got 20 but I can'r rememb3r if double ore procced

dapper imp
#

20 is its fixed drop

sudden bluff
#

Ahhhhh okay

carmine chasm
#

I can try again tomorrow (in-game). The meteor has bugged my farm by landing on a chest with stuff in it (meaning it couldn't get dislodged like other furniture/paths) and each time I destroy it the game crashes at day end 😦

#

I'm going to see if taking everything out of the chest, then saving overnight, will let me destroy it.

#

Otherwise I guess I've just got a pet meteor now 😄

#

got 20 bronze ore and 3 stone from this try.

dapper imp
#

hmm maybe those few ore pieces also listed there are a bonus 🤔

carmine chasm
#

Yup, I think the first time I must have gotten a double-ore bonus for the extra 5. Unfortunately it sounds like the meteor's bugged, because I'm not the only person getting crash-to-desktop on day end after mining one.

dapper imp
#

yikes. so it'll probably sit there taking up space until the next patch

carmine chasm

Yup.

Coral Island Wiki

Carpenter the house where Joko, Dinda, Archie, and Surya live. The player can purchase building/crafting materials, build and upgrade farm buildings. The "Edit Farm Buildings" menu option also allows you to move and destroy current buildings on your farm.

turbid mason

Awright, this is on Spring 8, 12 donations, 1 coral:

#

And again, right after I completed the first sesajen:

#

2 more donations that day:

#

And 1 healed coral site:

#

It doesn't seem to have moved after the site, so either it's got fixed progression pixels and the donations pushed it over but the site didn't, or the site points don't count until the next day?

41 donations is 123 points

OH WAIT
I think
I realised why the donations are different

because the initial numbers that were used were back from the days of 30 donations for Pickstarter funding instead of 50

that's why people are realising they need to donate more

#

because they don't have the pickstarter points?

dapper imp
sudden bluff

That makes sense

So far it's just been my resource for out of season seeds

dapper imp

I'm pretty sure it's going to look differently on release

sudden bluff

I'm running to see how many points I need for E

#

then... pushing it as fast as I can I guess, trying to speedrun

dapper imp
#

yeah I'm between E and D and I wonder how many I actually need, I'm pretty sure I already have more than the estimate we have is

sudden bluff
#

also dang the muscular male farmers are TALL

#

mine went facefirst into a sapling

dapper imp
#

yeah I have 360 points rn and still no rank D

sudden bluff
#

the fish are just really hard to donate early on, I realised how much difference the improved rod makes ._.

dapper imp
#

the fishing is just mind numbingly boring to me in its current state 😩

#

also the broken medium and large fish are discouraging

sudden bluff
#

yeah, it probably goes a long way towards explaining the mackerel
but idk, maybe it's just me, but the improved rod definitely had a faster catch rate

dapper imp
#

it should

#

it doesn't affect the fish you can catch or bite rate but it should give an easier time for fishing

sudden bluff
#

sesajen is a huge jump, 42 donations + 1 sesajen

#

so 176?

#

E looks like it's likely around the 200 mark then

carmine chasm
#

I was at around 210 when I hit E (I wasn't specifically tracking for points but had noted it down out of curiosity on that playthrough).

sudden bluff
#

bleh my monies, i just bought a barn

#

yep hit rank E

42 donations, 1 sesajen, 3 orbs

#

206

#

26 unique insect catches, blacksmith waypoint not open yet

dapper imp
#

blacksmith waypoint opens after the game plays 50 successful bug catching animations

#

so 50 non unique bugs

#

thank you for the number! I'm pretty sure all estimates on the wiki need to be increased

sudden bluff

Huh
So the bonus 50 happens when the expansion cutscene plays?

dapper imp

balmy rapids
#

Does anyone know how the chances of rain is calculated?

turbid mason
#

Before and after second sesajen

#

Total is 2 sesajen, 20 donations, and 4 coral sites

dapper imp
#

so E is indeed a bit over 200 points

turbid mason
#

Also, just to confirm, you don't have to wait until the next day (haven't gone home to check for a letter) to have the benefits applied. Sam already sells the new seeds.

dapper imp
#

and the higher the rank, the less noticeable that growth per action would be

turbid mason
#

No letter; it must come the next day

#

So you can get E-rank benefits before receiving the E-rank letter

#

I also got access to the lookout and the woodlands Fast Travel immediately after turning in the sesajen - although I didn't check just BEFORE the sesajen and I DID catch bugs on the way there so that would explain the woodlands one

sudden bluff
#

Yep, I got the seeds before the letter too. As long as the date shows it's counted

#

The woodlands is definitely bugs because I got it while running around catching bugs - I did a sweep of an area, went back, and it was lit - don't think I needed a second sesajen

dapper imp
#

the lookout is unlocked by two offerings, yes

turbid mason
#

Sweet

dapper imp

the woodlands is basically any 50 bugs, non unique or anything. as long as you catch them and not, say, get them from trash

sudden bluff
#

I'm convinced some of the stuff in the secret shop is just a time-based unlock, because some stuff didn't show up until Y2 on my old save despite me glitching in an early altar completion in fall (used an extra garlic and fairy rose)

dapper imp
#

I've put all the checks the game does for secret shop on the wiki

#

but some of them might not be functioning correctly

like complete all mines one is probably not in the game yet because the mines aren't

turbid mason
#

Yeah, I saw you say earlier that the art deco wall really shouldn't be there at Earth 20 XD

sudden bluff

There are ... two eggplant seeds?

turbid mason
#

If they're placeholders that would make sense. But I do like being able to access out-of-season seeds there....

dapper imp
#

let me double check, maybe I've made an error there

sudden bluff
#

Either they're placeholders, or there are two possible conditions for unlocking - could be needing either

#

There are two starfruit as well

#

One is 'give gifts to all characters' and one is y2, and I saw mine only in y2

dapper imp
#

yeah one star fruit is legit

#

the 2y one is likely non placeholder

#

yeah there's two eggplant seeds

#

for shipping 1000 of one crop and for animal products

#

yeah and two starfruit: one is likely legit (maybe a nod to SDV's stardrop?) and the other is giftAllNPC

#

I wouldn't worry about that shop yet, it's obviously full of placeholder content

sudden bluff
#

Yeah, fair

#

Man, I feel like some of those seeds really are a letdown

#

Daisy seeds for donating all artifacts

dapper imp

they'll likely replace it with some unique clothing or decor

the items that seem legit are either decor or clothing

(or that year 2 starfruit seed)

the one at 375 is in the proper alphabetical order, i can transfer the values from 356 to 375, but there are two values that are in contention with each other there

#

356 lists Oliver and Zoe as liking ice cream, but at 375 it shows them loving it

#

also, i wonder if ice cream at 356 was a different food item and someone changed the name

#

i'm seeing someone replacing all the values rn to fix it but i would suggest to do a double check for oliver's and zoe's first

foggy dew
#

Fixed. I put comments in for those conflicts. (my best guess is that all the kids do love it)

untold dove
#

also, are these actual items? i haven't seen them in game yet, wondering if they're from a different language version of the game

foggy dew
#

They're indonesian dishes. I believe they existed in an alpha version of the game, which is where I pulled the initial list of food items from.

dapper imp
#

they exist in the game and should even be cookable

#

also, Oliver and Zoe both love ice cream so that must be the correct row

#

Archie also loves it (not Valentina)

#

Wataru and Dinda hate it

#

everyone else should like it

dapper imp
#

hmm, maybe a link to a subpage to dump the letter text onto

turbid mason
#

A gallery item with an example letter would be good enough

dapper imp
#

I'm generally opposed to putting text in galleries tbh, it's more difficult to read than plain text

#

maybe I'll add a subpage link after all 🤔 some of those letters are somewhat entertaining

turbid mason
#

True - and I'm even visually impaired - I just think the text of the letter is fairly unimportant. But someone else might disagree.

dapper imp
#

I love Archie's and how Scott sends a letter with a gift "for the best farmer in the world" and it's. pineapple pizza

turbid mason
#

On the neutrals - are eggs and milk not counted as "animal products"?

dapper imp
#

no, the animal products are a separate category for items like wool or luwak coffee beans

#

I think it's mentioned on friendship page

#

technically they're all animal products, yes, but they're considered separate categories for gifting

turbid mason
#

If we wanted to cut it down I think if eggs and milk are both in the same category as animal products, "animal products" would cover it - BUT the page isn't too long so it's not an issue

dapper imp
#

oh I've meant the gifts to the player section, did it not link to properly?

turbid mason
#

It did! I was just looking at the rest of the page

#

Aaliyah liked the tortilla I gave her, I'm almost positive

dapper imp

yeah she has these prefs set in a weird way

she shouldn't have any of those exceptions, I think I just forgot to remove them

#

oh I did remove them

turbid mason
#

I was noticing she liked a lot of normally-neutral foods

dapper imp
#

her gift preferences are set in the way that makes her ignore the usual exceptions from liked groups. like Canola, Apples, Wheat flour, all that

#

I doubt it's intentional on the devs part

turbid mason

Huh. That... sounds like a mistake?

dapper imp

yeah or an oversight

is it not sold in fall or is it not plantable?

#

item_24006 is cotton seeds

#

I'd get if it's not sold in fall but it should be plantable. the seasons match the table for all other crops

#

it's be a bit weird if it's plantable but not sold at Sam's

#

are lily seeds sold in both summer and fall?

nova flume
#

"CottonSeeds": { "allowedSeasons": [ "EC_Season::Winter" ],

#

So just sold in Winter, yeah?

dapper imp
#

yeah it looks like

is this from Sam's table?

#

you should be able to plant leftover seeds next fall and that's. weird. but oh well

nova flume
#

Mmhm, pretty sure it is.

#

Guess you could use a seed maker to make your own for the next Fall too.

dapper imp
#

yeah. the seed maker isn't great for non regrowable crops tho

#

but yeah it's still possible

sudden bluff
#

Lily seeds only sold in summer

#

let me open my game and check cotton seeds again...

dapper imp
#

yeah it says winter, but judging by the crop table I'd expect it to be growable in fall. maybe they forgot to remove the season 🤷‍♀️

sudden bluff
#

Yeah, either they forgot to remove the season or they forgot to mention it in the description

#

because sugarcane is regrowable but that's not indicated in the description either

dapper imp
#

yeah probably an oversight

sudden bluff
#

Okay thanks, because I saw someone asking about it so I wanted to double-check - I thought I misread because I've been running that new file to see how many points I need for the ranks

nova flume
#

So I found the insect spawns.

For the most part, the location names we've been using (Garden Lane, Lookout, Town, etc) are accurate, with the Observatory being considered part of the Vineyard (I'm pretty sure) and the Hot Spring being a separate location. The Forest is additionally divided into four sub-locations (Higher, Mid, Lower, and Farm) or can just be called as Forest and encompass all of them.

Bugs are also divided into only two times, day and night. No morning or evening like fish have.

dapper imp
#

the observatory / bath house might be the part of the woods because fireflies also spawn there iirc

It doesn't look like any of them parent each other from what I can tell.

@nova flume am I right to assume the insect pages you've went through contain accurate information from the game files? I want to add a small summary at the start of each page and wonder if I should check the info there

oh and categories for seasons / time of day

nova flume

Barring the possibility of human error, they should be accurate, yeah.

dapper imp

when's night for these? starting from 18:00 when the icon changes?

nova flume

It's just listed as day/night true/false. :'D

dapper imp

dapper imp

I don't think there's much in game distinction for those two categories mechanically

buoyant ferry

Soo I'm on the spreadsheet and Tilapia shows cast length 3, I just did length 2 in the cavern entrance and got a tilapia

foggy dew
#

Okay, you can add the conditions of your catch to the spreadsheet!

dapper imp
#

cast length doesn't matter for type of fish caught

#

it only affects the catch chances for different rares and sizes. so you don't really need to track those

foggy dew
#

Oh I thought there were minimum depths available for fish?

dapper imp
#

basically, casting to 3 is always better because there's less trash

dapper imp
foggy dew
buoyant ferry

So I can assume when other remarks for fish says "in trash" you cant fish it? Or does it mean you can also find it in the trash?

hollow wadi
#

From what i have found from fishing aaaaaaalot is: all fish can be caught at casting strength 3, so there is no use of trying the lower strengths if you hit water with strength 3.

sudden bluff

Hmmm
I'm just trying to figure out what I like more from each LOL
I actually kind of like lines because it's more clearly demarcated, but I think the modular version has a cleaner feel

dapper imp
#

oops they're the same but now the headers are huge

sudden bluff
#

LOL

#

Yeah the proportions for the body text feel a lot more readable now
something about that previous size made it seem narrower

#

Maybe if you, er, made the 'critters' header bigger, to match with the subdivisions so everything started at the same level of, idk, indentation, the modular one definitely comes off as cleaner after that

dapper imp
#

interesting, maybe it's how the scaling for absolute vs relative font sizes work

sudden bluff
#

Ohhhhhh

dapper imp
#

I've called it wikipedia style for a reason

#

wikipedia actually does that

#

many fandom wikis use tables of course, and yeah for tables you have to have the column widths match

Ahhhhh I see
I think it's fine then! (also: guess who barely touches the navbox on wiki)

dapper imp

I have zero preference tbh, I was just curious how it would look, might as well keep the old one

I don't think I like the section headers in all caps tho

#

okay no I think I prefer wikipedia navboxes slightly more

#

just need to. maaaybe adjust that padding

dapper imp
#

I've randomly changed the navbox on a few insect pages and I might like the module one slightly better because it's cleaner. but it's not urgent or anything so I'll think about it more 🤷‍♀️

nova flume
cerulean flare
#

folks, i know no better place to ask this one: quality of gifted items, does it affect gained hearts like in stardew? if yes - how?

nova flume
#

I want to say it's a toss-up at the moment. Some are liked more, some less, and none of them are probably supposed to be doing that.

I haven't looked at it myself, but I don't think there's mention of quality items giving extra friendship.

cerulean flare
#

guys, I mean SAME item, but different star quality, like normal pepper and GOLD star pepper

#

so no idea at the moment, it seems?

hollow wadi
#

nope

#

Hope they fix the bugs after patch soon so i can play again. Had big plans for the day, but game is unplayable atm. 🙂

nova flume
#

That's what I meant? I think gifting has the same issue as some of the crafting does at the moment where it doesn't always recognize a basic pepper and a gold pepper as being the same thing.

turbid mason
#

That was an issue we were looking into, but it turns out they do respond to higher-quality items the same as they would the lower-quality item.

However, I don't think anyone has found the direct friendship mechanic nor confirmed whether item quality affects it.

dapper imp
#

wild coconut trees can only be harvested on certain dates of each month, right?

#

range of dates

nova flume
#

Mmhm. Or at least, they only become harvestable on/after a certain date. I don't know if they 'expire' outside of season change; haven't checked.

dapper imp
#

thanks! they should theoretically expire, it looks like they're marked as harvestable in a certain date window

#

are the dates they're harvestable in spring 15-19?

#

12-19 in summer, 19-23 in fall, and 15-19 in winter. looks legit or no?

nova flume
#

I don't know the exact dates, but a couple weeks into the season sounds about right, yeah.

dapper imp
#

hmm is ForestHigher actually hillside?

#

where's titan arum found exactly?

#

or figs

#

or matsutake

carmine chasm
#

The only places I’ve found matsutake are right by Ben’s caravan (next to the waterfall circle-thing) and in the grassy area “below” the caravan (where the chest with candied tree seeds is).

#

Titan arum, I’ve found in a wider set of places, from by the mine cavern to ben’s caravan.

dapper imp
#

hmm so higher might as well be basically higher than the farm

#

titan arum spawns say ForestHigher and ForestLower

#

for matsutake they are MidForest and ForestHigher

#

so Ben's area is probably the higher forest

#

MidForest is where Ginseng spawns

nova flume
#

These are the very rough estimates of how I've been reading the divisions. I know I've gotten Higher Forest insects and titan arum up near the caverns and neighboring stream, and pretty sure I've gotten Lower Forest near that straight between the Ranch and Huntress cabin.

I don't know where the Ginseng Area is relative to anything else though. I haven't seen it yet. :'D

dapper imp
#

the scavengeables would be more accurate

#

and yeah that division makes sense

nova flume
#

There's a spawning area off to the left of the cavern where the monkey's shop is that I've mostly been going off there. It's pretty far from everything else.

dapper imp
#

hmm though I think ForestMid is an unlockable area because there's a cutscene for it

nova flume
#

Hm! That would be interesting.

dapper imp
#

I wish I could tell how those are mapped in the files but I can't 🫤

nova flume
#

That's okay. I'll try to keep better notes on what I'm finding where.

dapper imp
#

I need to play more myself, I'm not even past my first spring yet

nova flume
#

So. As of Fall 14, my palm trees have unharvestable baby coconuts, so them being ready on Fall 19 looks plausible.

And with one day's catching and foraging, the Higher and Lower Forests are looking elevation-based with possibly no Mid Forest between them. In which case, I was wildly incorrect and very sorry. :'D

dapper imp
#

oh and the mid forest must be that unlockable area then

untold dove
#

Aww it's so cute

nova flume
#

Added it! And the images of a few other new critters I found in the files.

nova flume
#

Ongoing foraging and bug hunting is giving me the impression the divisions may be something along these lines:

#

Arrows being ramps and inclines between the higher and lower sections. The dense trees on the map are impassable.

dapper imp
#

yeah mid seems to be a later game unlockable area, it has some rare valuable stuff like ginseng. and higher chance to spawn legendary insects

#

the hot spring area also seems to be unlockable? behind those roots in the upper right corner of the bit you've posted

#

I wonder if the part around the bath house is actually forest high

#

or the hillside

nova flume
#

Makes sense about the Hot Springs. There are more of those roots/vines blocking a couple paths off to the further left of the map which could go to the Mid Forest? Not sure.

The bath house area might be a little taste of the Hot Springs? Insect-wise, I've gotten Assam silk moth and Soldier beetle, and I scared off what looked like a Striped garden caterpillar.

#

Oh! Bamboo shoots too. I'm pretty sure I've found them around there.

untold dove
#

can confirm i think the only bamboo shoots i've found were by/behind the hot springs, where takeba tends to stand

dapper imp
#

yeah if the bamboo shoots are there then it's definitely part of hot springs

I think they spawn exclusively in hot spring area
