I went out for drinks with a friend and got the LOST WEEKEND:
Vodka, Crème De Cacao, Nutella, toasted marshmallow, graham cracker
would you like some booze with your toppings?
good idea :)
that sure looks delicious already 😋
though i personally skip on the alcohol part :P
looking good 😋
Thanks! The students loved it and it was delicious
I saw those
Huh
Also I had fun today making vietnamese rolls
The translucent sticky kind
Quite tasty
I decided to have some fruit for breakfast. 😏
hey
i have a question
i need recipes for freezer meals, and i like something to chew, like having a good old bite (lasagna or quiche are what comes to mind)
i already have 1 lasagna and quiche already (lasagna = with salmon &broccoli, quiche = leak & bacon)
and im craving something that isnt either of those two :P
piroshki/dumplings maybe?
...boba?
mini pizzas? burritos? breakfast sandwiches?
great ideas :D
pie?
oeh im liking the sound of that too :D
Unless it's like soup you chew most things so I'm trying to figure out what you mean. If you're in the US there's a good meal planning app called Mealime, has some good recipes and easily adjusts how many you want to make in a go
Highly rec it for folks w food sensitivity/allergies bc you can filter out a lot of things
yea sorry, i dont really know how to put it in words >.<
in dutch we would say 'iets om je tanden in te zetten', which would translate to 'something to put your teeth in'. It excludes soups, cuz you dont need to chew soup. it excludes mashed potatoes, cuz you dont need to bite that kinda
'tanden in zetten' miiiight also be a saying for people who dont let something go, and are determent 😅
language is hard :c trying to express what you are looking for with words when you dont really know yourself.... hard 😅
welp google disagrees with what i said here 😅 the only thing google says about this is being determent, and nothing about actually describing food :c
i'm gonna call it a night for now, maybe tomorrow i know what i was trying to put in words 😅
mb it's like 'somthing you can you really sink your teeth into'
Oh yeah that's a good equivalent
Actually yes, that is the cleanest translation
o good. gotta make use of my english degree somehow
Literally it's saying "something to set your teeth in"
But that's the thing with proverbs and such, rarely translate well
My loempia adventure was quite tasty, the sticky translucent sheets were interesting to mess with
Left or Right?
depends on the flavors/textures
Left looks like a Napoleon Cheesecake, and the right looks like an Ube Red Velvet mini cake????
Left is a Napoleon Cheesecake, and the right is an Ube Cheesecake.
But this more about which design is better?
Right is by far cuter and stands out more imo but now I want to eat both
I tried making cheese sticks from scratch... Because I always had the impression that they should be delicious, but I was always disappointed by the ones you buy in stores (or the ones you order in bars, which taste exactly the same as the store-bought ones, except more expensive). Sooo they look good, but they taste meh. Any advice for improving them?
(I used a simple recipe: refrigerate or freeze cheese (I tried both); dip cheese in flour-egg-spiced crumbs-egg-spiced crumbs again; refrigerate/freeze again, then fry till brown).
(Ah, I also tried different cheeses: mozzarella (balls), cheddar (not very good quality, the store only had one kind), raclette cheese).
Does the taste come down to which cheese you use? Or is there a special seasoning that makes them better? Or maybe I just don't like cheese sticks and I just imagined I would ^^'
Would you all share your tips and tricks, to help a slightly lost cook? :D
Here goes the result of my attempts described above :p
it looks delicious, but i am not used to eating cheese sticks, so i have no idea what to do to improve them, sorry
Maybe add herbs?
Paprika powder, onion powder and garlic powder might work wonders
I had added garlic powder already, but maybe it just needs more. In the flour or the bread crumbs?
For all that?
I’d add it to the flour mixture! I forgot to mention that 😅
Maybe some dried herbs like oregano or parsley as well?
Chili powder, cayenne pepper?? 🤔
Thanks for the suggestions ^^
weird gremlin fruits ahoy
this is what the aliens will give us as a peace offering when they come off of their ufos
As someone who has worked in a bar, they are the same ones from the store. When I make them, I sprinkle Chicken Salt on them while they are still hot.
Herbes de Provence works wonders when mixed in the batter.
Those are good!
they are indeed
they're drier than regular peaches, but that makes them easier to handle
Breakfast
Oo looks yummy
Though I'm allergic to avocados so no ty on that, but everything else looks good! lol
turkey spinach rice with super powered toppings
it doesn't look like much, but i can already say it's finger licking good
Wow that looks absolutely incredible!!! I can feel my mouth watering just looking at that photo omg 😍😍😍
What's all that to the right? Is that sour cream? And what's below it?
Advocado for breakfast, I suppose?
Human I come bearing gifts from our planet "squish squish"
hard to go wrong w fresh fruit tbh
"I'm sorry my fabricator malfunctioned and only makes squished versions of human things"
Behold my squished banana
That's called pudding.
Hm, I had never heard about chicken salt! It's not a thing that seems to exist here in France. Does it really taste like chicken?
It's greek yoghurt mixed with a bit of meat broth (it makes for a great super-easy sauce); and below, it's small pickled onions.
No, it's a spice mix made for chicken. BTW, I have a friend in Bersaillin.
Ohh, I have that spice mix for chicken, another for fish / seafood, I always use it for my keto diet consisting of chicken breast and/or fish fillet.
My grandma always makes her own herbes de provence mix
I'm so used to that flavour hahaha
Saw these at a dollar store and bought a pack just because I’ve never seen them before. Tasted awful.
glad you like it
/s
Not enough beret on the croissant obviously
Mushroom, ham, and goat cheese scrambled eggs.
Nom, mixed mushrooms?
Just brown beech mushrooms since that’s what I had in the fridge.
that looks good :)
Got a box of snack from Taiwan! I actually was surprised that I liked them all. Though the choco balls were my favorite!!
I like that popsmile popcorn! But overall, taiwanese snacks are usually on point for me ❤️
made a cheesecake with red berries gelatine 😋
made a cheesecake with red berries gelatine 😋
(just heads up, cheesecake is different in many countries)
(some countries they bake cheesecake, and this cheesecake is a fridge cheesecake without baking, which uses gelatin as ingredient to not be liquid)
heh :P
yea moments too quick hihi :)
That looks yummy! How's the taste?
well the red berry gelatin was very sour, so i added frigging much powdered sugar
then i had too little gelatin so i kept adding gelatin
the cheese cake tastes uhhh

well it contains cream cheese, unsweetened cream that i had to whip, and the mixture of the box which contains gelatin and other things 🤔
Mmmhmmm so does it taste good? xD
yissss 😋
everything was purrfect, made everything equal and flat, then came the pour of the berry gelatin (which is still liquid)
and i forgot impact of liquid 😭
which is why there is some floating white, which was not supposed to float
scooped out a few bigger chunks of the white cheese cake :P
now i gotta sleep a night to see the results tomorrow
and hope it doesnt leak out of the mall 😰
but yeah, me made things again >:D
my body: the only reason you made this, was cuz you had late evening hunger
me: stubborn look dont care, me made things
I'm getting hungry at 5 AM seeing the pic 😭
Maya if you get cheesecake, leave me some pls ty
come over in the morning, and we'll eat a slice :)
(its past midnight by now, i really gotta get my sleep 😅 )
Get some rest! It'll be amazing, I'm sure!!
thanks :)
have a particularly lovely marinade for my pork roast this time around
gonna be great once i cook it up after it marinates overnight
Not a food but I started my morning by drinking "wedang uwuh" today, a traditional herbal drink with lots of spices
ooo love to drink this on cold rainy days ☔
I've never heard of this, is it similar to herbal teas or what is it like? Sweet drink or? 🤔
Yupp it's a traditional herbal drink, made from ginger, sappanwood, cinnamons, etc~
For me, have to add sugar though, haha XD
I likely would also. Sounds soooo yummy though
I have nothing recent to contribute but here's a steak meal I got at a restaurant awhile back. Yummy mashed tatoes and asparagus for my sides, always. I had sinigang tonight but didn't take a picture lol
This looks really good! It reminds me of the traditional Caribbean Sorrel Drink. There is ginger, cinnamon, orange peel, cloves and bay leaves in it! I've only ever drank it once during a international cuisine day at school. It was so sweet and tasty, I can imagine wedang uwuh tastes just as good! 🤩 🍹
morning :P
my in the morning head is a bit confused by meat (guess my stomach cant handle as much as it could 5 years ago)
anyways it looks lovely :P
so, i took it out of the mall, and it is a SUCCESS :D
the white in the picture looks like reflecting light, but it is actually the cheesecake that went floating cuz of the impact of the liquid gelly topping
me: goes to family chat to show off cake
me: reads sister in law announcing she is pregnant
me: i dont think anyone will care about my cake much 😅
(i'm very happy to get a new aunty sayer, and hope she'll have an easy pregnancy, it's simply not what i expected to run into when on my way to show off cake)
the impact when i poured the liquid jelly is visible haha xD
it looks satisfying to poke
probably is >v<
tastes great >v<
i took a bite of only the jelly, and it tastes both sour and sweet >v<
poking satisfaction confirmed :P
Mal is Dutch hahaha, its a mold in English. But yes bouncy cake top
hm i like the sound of that
It's super sweet too, because it's basically jellified with sugar hahaha
thats exactly what i did with the currentberry gelly :P
Could you cut it in pieces and have it stay solid like a gummy bear?
Because that's kinda the texture we get
the jelly from the currentberry, yea :P
i did a bit more gelatin than the gelatin said i needed to do, juuust to be sure :P
Enough jelly? No. More jelly
exactly
i kinda hoped on a thicker layer of berry gelly :P
'so here is the bottom, then 50% of the mass is the cheesecake, and the other 50% is jelly'
me: 🤩 did it aaaaaaall by myself
but ehh probably not the best flavor combination, cuz the berry gelly has strooong flavor >v<
right now the flavors are in great balance :)
You were hiding in the fridge, observing the process
After which you do this satisfied belly patting
soooo satisfied
Light dinner - sautéed mushrooms, leeks, spinach, and arugula with some lemon flavored sour cream and a fried egg.
I believe I can spot an egg underneath all the pepper
That's a good amount of pepper uwu
Cheesecake i had a few weeks ago on anniversary date :)
Omg it's with the fancy wiggly restaurant lines
all hail the great pumpkin
can you believe that discord doesn't have a pumpkin emoji?
disgraceful
oh no, the great pumpkin king will be very displeased!
I must make more pumpkin desserts to appease!
haha, that's the spooky spirit
the foods all look really tasty 😋
Especially the dancing one. Wait...
now i imagine someone eating the dancing one, and looking like 'wait i wasnt supposed to eat this? O.o'
Some of this delious lobster mac and cheese I had at a beachside restaurant the other day!
In the old harry potter games, you had the chocolate frogs running around, though I'm not sure how sentient chocolate works
errrrr O.o
Part of the lore, you had chocolate frogs as a candy in the series
heh :P
so yesterday my boyfriend wanted KFC food, so we got it :P
that bucket with chicken
:P
and some other food, cuz we got a meal deal thingie
soooo the last few boneless chicken from the bucket was breakfast :P
we both love chocolate milk lately (apparently, dutch chocolatemilk is a typical dutch thing, the ones you buy in the grocery store)
and i keep forgetting to take photos of food >.<
The chocomel stuff?
Or the canned nesquick
If chocomel, that stuff is insanely expensive for a luxury drink
the cheap brand version of it, yea :P
99 cents for a liter full chocolatemilk
random googled example, ignore the 'best getest' text :P
my boyfriend likes it better than the Chocomel brand :P
we also have the powdered nesquick, and i figured out that if you add cream to it, and then milk, it gets extra tasty and creamy 😋
I've never seen nonbrand chocomel huh
I always had nesquick residue left after using it, probably put too much in the bowl
the chocomel is always more in sight, but there should always be 'chocolade melk vol' and 'chocolade melk halfvol' ergens in dezelfde schappen
also, i have made a list of prices per product in grocery stores at least twice now :P
that really helps spotting the cheap delicious foodies 😋
and its side-effect is that i know that butter ('roomboter') went from 1 euro to close to 2 euro in the last few years >:c
Well if you start doing the shopping planning, then suddenly price fluctuations become visible
I've always found cheese to seem expensive, but per kilo meat is far more expensive
yea, i cut down on most meat cuz freezing meat makes the taste go meh (i prepare in bulk, then freeze it in portions that only need to be reheated)
massive money saver
on the other hand, the tasty breads from lidl and aldi easily eat away that money i saved with those mostly vegetarian meals
Reheated meat is hmm, mostly only interesting in a stew I'd think.
Ah I tend to avoid too much spoiling myself hahaha, because tasty food disappears so rapidly otherwise
Put meat in marinade, freeze, then dethaw when needed helps w that
I've had some lovely marinated breasts
Not sure what my dad added
But I think he may have used our herbes de provence supply
An older image
saaaaame >.<
i really regret not taking pictures of the homemade (mix package based) tompouche i made yesterday :P
i spiced it up with rocky road whipped cream :P improviced the cookie part of rocky road with schuddebuikjes :P
Schuddebuikjes are basically year long mini speculaas
Also tompouce is pretty, but impossible to eat
Oh who cares about manners when you're at home with only your boyfriend :P
meats
I like to drown my noodles with chili powder 😅
Any thais in chat?
I remember visiting thailand
1 is not spicy, 2 little spicy, 3 very spicy, 5 to 8... thai
I really enjoyed that cooking class there hahaha
Ohhhh really??? What did you make there?
Sounds really awesome tho!!
We made pad thai, miso soup and crispy spring rolls
I still got the skinny recipe book
As it also has a recipe for green, yellow and red spice paste
And I learnt the interesting supposed concept that as you shouldn't have to "work" to eat your food
Everything is cut to pieces during cooking
I still haven't found any pad thai rivalling what I got there
Ohhhh interesting!
Hehe
It's nice that you know how to cook em tho
Expectation
Reality
Still slaps tho
Sad about the shape has been lost when I tried to put them in the place
Plate
What is that? Meat?
Oooooh so like a dessert?
Do you eat them like that or do you add another thing to it? Like condensed milk or whataver
reminds me of tape ketan
It's called Khao Lam, you usually wrap them in a bamboo, but being here in the UK - we use tin foil 😅
You can add stuff in, condensed milk is fine !
Oooo
We have a thing like that too, but itps wrapped in banana leaf
Is it fermented?
OOOOO we do em too! In thai we call em Khao Tom Mat, my favourite desert 😭
This is exactly the same but bamboo style
OH KHAO LAM IS ROASTED?
Yeah hahah
Oo i eat that from time to time, they're delicious
Ya i suspect we have the exact same food but with different name and slightly different way of cooking lol
Everytime I wrap them in banana leaf, I didnt wrap them tight enough so it just unravels itself 😭
And what are the black things in it that looks like watermelon seeds?
Beans !
Black beans ya
Ooooo
I don't think i've ever had black beans before xD
Usually mung beans or kidney beans
Mung beans are for dessert, kidney beans in soup
Oml i missed my mom's kidney beans soup
I was kind of puzzled when I first saw a bean dessert
Yes this blackish bean goo is dessert yes
I quite enjoyed my overseas travels
I used to have kidney beans all the time cus I'm iron deficient haha
Have you considered working in the steel industry
We often have chickpeas here, they got a nice taste
I've never even SEEN chickpeas before lol
What do you season them with?
We often got pumpkin soup
Add some cooking cream, potato if desired
Blend to smooth whole
autumn
OH
OH
notpe
idk, maybe some sugar? salt?
pretty simple tasting
i just eat, i didn't cook it XD
Oooooo thank you, that's no bother at all! I'm a lazy cook
pumpkin is already sweet to begin with so i guess you can get by just using some oil
gurl same.
today is Canadian Thanksgiving, so my boyfriend wanted Chicken & other stuff
the chicken & veggies are in the oven right now, hope i dont forget to take a photo this time
also, i burned my hand at the oven.... wear oven mitts people 😅
You're not supposed to cook your hand
yea yea..... xD
took a painkiller for the burn :P
my body goes like 'did you just put a painkiller in your body? flips the offswitch for pain' or something :P
the 3 photos of the meal :P
okay maybe gravy isnt that interesting xD
oh and we put 2 (fresh out of the oven) buns on each plate (cuz we couldnt make the bread stuffing, i lacked a few ingredients) no picture of that
and them buns: our stores have bake off buns :P
That's kinda what it does, it blocks pain receptors, increasing pain threshold
Also is that actual potato or the mash from a packet?
That looks like a delicious meal
yiss :P my boyfriend asked for that, instead of a complicated recipe i found online :P
my siblings need stronger painkillers, usually
Is it A or B? Yes! Hahaha I assume you made it from a packet, as it looks like packet mash
Interesting, I know that people who are natural redheads are a population group which have a significantly higher tolerance to painkillers
oh it is the package, add water and milk :P
wait, you mean that people with natural red hair, if they take a painkiller, it is not as effective?
That doesn't sound right, but also this isn't the channel for med discussions lol
fair, lets take it to DM :P
on the other hand, 3 lines of text about painkillers isnt something i'd call 'discussion' yet :P
it was absolutely delicious :)
Usually questions lead to more discussing as it's a conversation 🙂
90% sugar 0% guilt
What about the other 10%?
chocolate?
(it is vanilla yoghurt, sweet whipped cream with pink color, m&m's, and a chocolate muffin)
Sugary sugarness
I tend to notice on ingredient labels it never adds up
But I believe water isn't listed
Never read ingredients labels 😂.
Top percentage ingredient: sugar

they arent recipes, that is the reason it doesnt add up :)
for example, the cola recipe is unknown, only 2 people on earth know it, they say
True, but in some cases they will show percentages because they have to abide to a minimum for example
Chocolate in europe needs a minimum of... 21% chocolate base ingredients?
Look at a package of sprinkles
It's basically sugar pellets, but the weight of sugar per 100 grams isn't 100, its like 98g
oh yeah, otherwise they arent allowed to use the name 'chocolate' for their product, indeed
and chocolate is a combination of cocoa butter and cocoa powder kinda, companies that get easier things than cocoa butter can get below the required cocoa % they need, and get a similar name to chocolate (cocoa butter is expensive, last time i checked)
however the process of turning cocoa butter and cocoa powder and other ingredients into a chocolatebar needs a lot of heating and cooling, to get it at the right melting point (try eating some chocolate when your mouth is very cold after a walk, it will have no flavor at all and feels like plastic, i've had that once, but once my mouth was warm enough to melt the chocolate again, it tasted deliciously like chocolate again)
thats why i like making things from scratch :P
yea not all things taste good at all when cold
flavor is decided by flavor, structure, and temperature :P
Attempted Vegetarian Adobo~
Instead of chicken, I got potatoes, carrots, extra firm tofu, and lotus root. Gotta say, pretty delicious
I'm not vegetarian, but my S/O is
looks really tasty :)
ooooo delicious
Oooou that looks so soothing
We have no confirmation that it's not 90% cream
gotta poke your finger in until we know
inb4 it's the upside down mug prank
The mug is literally solid chocolate
peppermint and chocolate are a combination i can not enjoy, but my boyfriend loves it :)
and it looks delicious :)
Definitely a lot heavier than my usual breakfast of scrambled eggs with veggies and/or whole grain pancakes or porridge, but I was craving bacon for some reason so I bought pork belly and made some uncured maple bacon. Latte was a custom half-caff blend too, lots of cocoa, melon, and apricot notes, and it only took one grinder adjustment to pull a good shot!
Looks very pleasant
Literally hot pockets, right after baking
this looks good, how did they taste?
Light and crispy, I put marshmallows for a few of them so they were nice and gooey
Awwww you tug them to bed
i am very confused as to what it is, it looks cute and tasty, what are the ingredients? :) you mentioned marshmallows, i think i recognize puff pastry, and what else? :)
it looks tasty, its simply that my brain can not place what it is :P
These are sleeping bear pain au chocolat. For the recipe I used puff pastry roll, milk and dark chocolate bars, teddy graham bears, some cut up marshmallows, and a beaten egg mixture. First I cut up the pastry roll place the bar and bear then fold over the dough. Then with a fork pressed on both its side and with the egg mixture brush over it all around. Then I threw it in the oven at 375 degrees for about 10 min. You want them to be puffed up and a bit of a golden look. Afterwards get some powdered sugar and enjoy!
yes, fahrenheit.
oh you meant, chocolatine?
Either chocolat or chocolatine, I saw a video on tumblr someone making these, so I had to sleuth on the internet to find them, and the creator called them sleeping bear pain au chocolat.
I'm happy to share goodies and recipes, I just hope you can bear with me
awesome pun there :P
Thank you, I hope it wasn't unbearable
For my birthday my best friend prepared ... Something special for me 👀 even though it's just sugar it tasted amazing. Probably because it is only sugar
The circle was surprisingly easy but the triangle cracked at the last section ☠️
Also dropping in to tell you they look absolutely adorable omg :D
Thank you Marie, it was my first time making them so I feel lucky they came out great! Also did your friend make or buy the honeycomb candy?
Omgg lmaooo please tell me there was an umbrella shape
He actually made the honeycombs themselves and needed quite a few attempts, apparently 😶 I heard it's quite hard to actually get them to have that right consistency so they stay in that shape
Sadly there wasn't 🤧 My friend had to make the shapes for himself out of wire and tried a few times, but the umbrella just didn't come out right
To compensate it he used a christmas cookie cutter in form of a sheep that was equally hard.
sadly we really butchered the sheep shape ☠️
"sheep"
Definitely that 😄 If we manage to get a proper umbrella shape I'll update y'all again on how that went 👀
A bit too early in the year for Christmas cookies, sure, but... Vanilla Kipferl! :D With part of the flour replaced by almond powder to make them extra delicious :D
i thought for a while that they were croissants, but this sounds delicious 😋
ooo looks like snow white cookies we have here.
tbh any cookie dusted with powdered sugar tends to look like that
It's never too early for Christmas cookies
I mean, it's less than 70 days to christmas and the supermarkets are already stocking on christmassy stuffs, soo
you are, at most, 366 days away from any christmas.
Close enough
o wow never seen those versions.
To be fair they remind me of those as well but the texture is a little different tho
Omg Vanille Kipferl 🥺 Haven't made them myself yet tho but dm really sells nice ones. My Oma always made them herself.
Damn now I really crave some
never seen white beng-beng though, that's cool.
Definitely powdered croissants
What’s better? Potato or cassava?
potatoes have better starchiness for me.
It was very delicious
I think I've tried this one before, it's quite good~
glad you like it
My boyfriend is German, and misses his country a bit sometimes (he lives in France with me) so I make cookies from over there to cheer him up ^^
They're super easy to make, give it a go :D
Aww that's really sweet 🥺 Alrighty, I guess since it's Christmas time soon enough I guess I should actually give it a try. Do you have a special recipe suggestion or some tricks I should know? 👀
I can give you the recipe I use if you want. When I get home, after work! I'll post it here. The trick is to not melt the butter, it really has to be room-temperature when you mingle it with the sugar! It really improves the texture of the cookie, and makes it way easier to handle ^^
By the way - my real name is Marie 😄
Sooo here it is!
INGREDIENTS
- 35g white sugar
- 2 or 3 teaspoon vanilla extract, or seeds from one vanilla pod
- 120g butter
- 140g flour
- 60g almond powder
- icing sugar for sprinkling
PREPARATION
- With a fork (don't use a whip, it doesn't work with that small amount), mix together the butter and the sugar. As I told you above: butter has to be room-temperature / soft but not melted (if it's too cold, I put it in the sun, or on a heater, for 10mn). The trick is to cut the butter in pieces, and then, sort of crush it with the fork until the sugar blends in and you end up with a cream-like texture.
- Add vanilla, then flour and almond powder. Mix by hand.
- Make little balls of dough, and roll them in your hands to shape them. The ends of the moons can be very thin, they won't break during cooking. I make them rather small (you saw how many on the picture - considering the amount of dough - but that's up to you).
- Cook 13-15mn (depending on the size of your cookies) at 170°C, in the preheated oven.
- Let cool down completely before sprinkling with icing sugar.
- Bon appétit! :-)
Merci beaucoup! I'll definitely let you know when I baked them as well!
De rien :p Yeah, tell me if you like them :D
Hubby and I celebrated our anniversary today!
sushi date? nice!
Ooh that makes me hungry! Also happy anniversary Kae 🎉
Sushi dinner date with a sake flight, and the dessert is a Tuxedo Bomb. Layered vanilla and chocolate mousse in a chocolate shell
Thank you Maya!
So much sushi
We ate every bite. I was starving
yeah that's just one portion for me lol
And I'mma go to get sushi tomorrow now.
I just got real bad upset stomach from eating shoddy sushi some days ago, but looking at this sushi platter makes me want to eat sushi again 🍣
that looks delicious 😋
I like how California rolls are a bastardized maki, and a delicious bastard
Great how cuisine evolves
@copper raptor we need to see pho
👀 .... you... why you spying on me?
Because pho
What pho, tho?
Idk, this rando started asking me for pho
I need to see some pho too please!!!
Pho sure
Someone needs to share some pho? 😭 I still have no idea what it is but everyone is always talking about it.
@compact scaffold think pho is a noodle soup
So I've got a potluck on Thursday, whatever I bring has to be gluten, dairy and peanut free
and preferably meat free as well, because then I don't have to make extras
I was gonna make springrolls, but fried springrolls use gluten wrappers, and apparently vegetarian fried rice paper wrappers don't hold up well
so any advice would be appreciated
also, hello, resident half vietnamese here
pho is literally in my veins
For a novice, a bowl of pho can be just as intimidating as it is delicious, what with all the different cuts of meat, condiments, and edible accoutrements that can come along with your meal. Thankfully, Vincent and Mikey Kha—the father and son duo who run Pho & Cafe Anh Hong in Upper Darby, PA—are here to teach us all about it. From what to look...
it noodle soup
delicious delicious rice noodle soup
pho is one of my favorites to get whenever I go out to eat, so yummy. I get mine a bit spicy, but the cilantro, onions, and lime are such a good combination of flavors
Are there also special types of vegan or vegetarian pho? 👉 👈 Bc that looks really delicious
most likely, I think like all of the ingredients aside from the meat are just rice noodles and veggies. I can imagine there are lots of places that make veggie pho. Not sure about vegan though 🤔
<@&704857062680821874> this person is spamming these links in every channel??
Yeah, already pinged mods
Nice, I've got most channels muted but I'm glad it's gonna be handled
The new season of critical role just came out so I've got my food and drink and I'm ready to veg out and watch it 😁
I caught the first 1.5 to 2 hours live even though the time is ungodly for my area. I was just too curious about the new characters. I think its gonna be good
i just discovered something in hindsight
we have this fridge cake, which is called 'arretjescake'
and because the recipe is killing my energy, i triple the recipe, cuz then at least it is worth it being killed over
however this time, the butter simply drips out of it, which i cant recall it doing in the previous times
so i looked at the recipe, and my conclusion is that all previous times, i did the recipe x3, but the butter x1
and man, turns out i like it better with little butter xD
should have stopped melting butter one package ago :c
or 2 packages ago....
(arretjescake = cocoa, sugar, egg, butter, mary biscuits, the first 2 ingredients are put together gently, then the egg thoroughly, and then with pure violence the rest is added)
Oh hang on
We had that a week ago, someone at work made it
It's basically a heart attack in cake form
He also put molten chocolate over it
hmmmm arretjescake 2.0
im starting to think people were right when they said im bad for their health, cuz my food is too sugary xD
adds more sugar for your portion :)
eating slow, smart move :P
I will survive three winters with that sugar intakr
good, good :)
what they say arretjescake looks like
what it looks like when you make it yourself, most of the time
what mine looks like (i ran out of Mary Biscuits 😭 )
and yes, i was trying to imitate the first one
also, the missing 1/12th of the cake is after 3 people got a portion xD it is heavy
Ooh that looks good, reminds me to get dinner ready! ❤️
hmmm what'll be your dinner? 😋
I found the cutest cookie cutters and made the cutest chocolate-filled dead cat cookies :D
my boyfriend: KITTIES!!!! ....they're dead though
The ears are not easy to take out without damage 😶
But that's not what killed them
^^
So cute!! 🐱
Just made some simple ramen 🍜
omnomnom
xD
Saw a show with Mediterranean food
And have come to the conclusion that solution nr1 is always drown in olive oil
But it looks delicious
Woah they look insanely cool o.o And they look also very delicious :D You're baked goods always look so tasty !!
I'd say those came out purrfectly!
Very late reply, but yes, you can get vegan/vegetarian pho
The flavour can be a bit blander depending on where you go, but good sauce covers all sins. (soy sauce, fish sauce, chilli sauce, hoisin, etc.)
And you can get vegan fish sauce
here isa. recipe for vegan fish sauce
here is one for vegan pho
Totally not traditional, but hot and sour dumpling soup with a marinated egg.
Oooh that looks good, makes me hungry...I really should get breakfast now XD
It’s all gluten free too - chicken broth, mirin, gluten free soy sauce, brown rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, white pepper, chili flakes, and gluten free dumplings.

Mushroom time... Makes for quite some preparation time afterwards ^^ The forest was bountiful today :D
Very jealous, that looks tasty owo
Already a plan what the first thing will be you turn them into? 👀
Today, I fried the two biggest, whole, in a breadcrumb coating; tomorrow, I will fry a full pan of them (so as to use as much as possible before they get bad); and the next day, some will go in a sauce for slow-cooked meat, some will be cut in tiny pieces to flavor rice :-)
It's a bit of a pity that they all come at once: you get to eat way too many mushrooms for two weeks straight, as long as you go walk in the forest a bit; and then nothing for a whole year. I mean, that's cool but... I know just frying them is not very imaginative; I'd like to try them out in other recipes, but you never know whether/when you're going to find them, and when you do find them, of course you don't have other ingredients at hand.
The two biggest :D
I'm excited about the tiny purple ones though; I had never found them yet, I wonder what they taste like :D
By the way, if anyone has ideas about recipes for using medium/large amounts of mushrooms, and that don't require too rare ingredients... Please tell me, my ears are open :D
While super interesting, isn't it very useful to have a good knowledge of em to avoid unpleasant surprises?
Yep. I always go out with a book in this season. When I talk about the tiny purple ones, I mean that I knew about them, I just hadn't ever found them in real life ^^
You can dry them and crush them into a like... Umami powder
I don't like the texture of raw or cooked mushrooms so that's my good to, nice in rice, ramen, w meat, etc
How do you dry them? Just let them lay somewhere? They won't rot?
Naw, I've had oyster mushrooms sitting in a colander to dry for like two months, they're like paper at this point. There typically needs to be a enough amount of moisture for mold/rot, so good airflow is v important
They've been dry for a while, I should do smth w them oop
We got a small drum shaped thing to dry stuff
Mother uses it to dry tiny kiwis for later
I believe you can rehydrate them once they're dried but I've heard they smell terrible that way
Hm. Ok, thanks for the advice. I'll try with a couple of them. I hope it will work with these wild ones. I hope no insect has laid invisible eggs in them, that will hatch into a hungry worm if left alone ^^
Beats a hippo
A hungry hungry hippo
We get mushrooms here, but no edible ones as far as I know
I think doing a good inspection of them and brushing will help prevent that. There's other methods you can do like using an oven on a low setting so look around and see what will work best for you and the types you have!
I don't have enough space to dry large amounts of them though... So still open to other cooking ideas :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZxcdLJgP4A I watch way too many Tasty videos (I always watch food videos while having meals so I don't get hungry) and since it's fall again I remember stumbling over this video again recently

but I absolutely get the point of too many shrooms in too little time
*Mushrooms mb
even though they may mainly use champignons i'm sure in some recipes you can vary the kind of mushroom u wanna use
also maybe how about a mushroom veggie base broth for ramen or something like that? 🤤 🍜
I doubt a bit their mushroom skewers recipe X) Mushrooms take quite a bit of time to be cooked through, and the bacon would probably be burnt to a crisp by then... The risotto recipe looks interesting though!
Yeah, good idea!
Tbf I have tried only a handful of Tasty recipes in general and some of them are rather nice to look at instead of practical to make, but from time to time they serve as a quite the nice inspiration tho 🌞
I am truly shocked to learn that the donut shop has donuts
What's next, a coffee shop selling coffee?
Remember, save the holes for last
Wait until you learn about clothing stores, it'll blow your mind
C.c.c.cccake stores?
🍰 🍰 🍰 🍰 🍰 🍰 🍰 🍰
I thought you shopped for clothing at soup stores.
Incidentally I had pumpkin soup last week
hmmm that reminds me, i really miss pumpkin spice latte 😋
skip the coffee flavor though
So I went to the carnival yesterday (with a mask and I am vaccinated dw) but they wanted $8 for 5 friend oreos. So I made my own.
They look a bit like fuzzy macarons
I made the batter too thin
Did you bake it as a whole, or bake two cookie halves with delicious filling
I believe it's deep fried
Deep fried oreos? Huh never seen
I thought it was some cute thing where for some donation drive they called them friend oreos
Yeah. I thought it was just some* cute cookie name that only Americans know about. Like those cookies that are always in movies where cheerleaders make snacks for the football players and put in their lockers.
🤔
Snickerdoodles?
i ate fried oreos once. it was great.
i immediately recognize the power it had to obliterate my health.
so i kept going.
Welcome to America 😂 where half of our state fair foods is just other food deep fried.
Ever tried deep fried kool-aid?
What?
Kool-aid is a liquid….. you can’t….. deep fry a liquid?
Ok. You know what was delicious and I haven’t had in ages? Deep fried ice cream balls.
Agree with this one
It's technically flour, water, and kool-aid mix and kinda comes out like a doughnut hole that tastes like kool-aid. But they call it fried kool-aid ¯_(ツ)_/¯
There's fried butter too
i was just gonna mention that
I...
I thought to myself upon looking at that menu but before looking at the stall's name....
That is a very fitting, straight-to-the-point name for that stall.
Given it calls them crisps I wonder where it's from
hmmm good question
It was at the San Diego County Fair in 2010
How fascinatingly... whew
And here we got the rise of oven grilled fries
The frying conspiracy is strong, america took all our frying stuff
so i wanted cake today
to decorate it (with text, it includes a name, so i wont share)
but could not find what i was looking for
so i got 4 packages of muffins and put them in a cakemall, put whipped cream in the holes, and then stuffed more muffin chunks in the holes filled with whipped cream
i spread sum chocolate whipped cream on top of it, to try making it flat (did not have enough whipped cream)
then with white whipped cream, i wrote text on it, and decorated it
the question is, do i add chocolate sprinkles on top or not?
also, writing with whipped cream is not as easy as i hoped xD maybe i'll be better next time
Fish and garlic prawns
Is this pho?
jk Mark but what sauce is that
nvm ignore my reading comprehension
I’ve never had pho… so yes, yes it is.
what kinda fish? looks delicious
cod and barramundi. Brother in law caught them on the weekend.
L0nch
i dont know what it is, but it looks tasty :P
Cookies again :D
ooo looks delish!! 🍪
they look awesome :D
And if you got some spare, you can tile your kitched with them!
i think i've made similar cookies, and i gotta say, you did an awesome job :)
I wish I could give some to the people in the coral foodie section ^^
Cookies are great, but better shared!
If they got this texture as how they look
They got this great crunchy taste, or nice and spongy
They're actually rather melt-in-the-mouth. The ratio of butter to flour is 220g to 320g, so... X)
i know the feeling >v< (so i always write that i share with people :) )
Recipe says you should, I don't. It gives it a strange crumbly texture if you melt the butter, and makes it harder to work with, instead of yielding a smooth dough. Whyever. I wish I knew more about the chemistry behind all that.
Reaallllly now
When we make our walnutcake, we melt it
Doesnt get grainy though
There is certainly a chemical difference
Where are the chemists when you need them sigh
(yes, probably in their labs cooking mad experiments)
Welp, children, tonight it's sniff sniff sulphur cake for dinner
^^
I knew it. There are Gorons hidden among us, on this server. No one else would eat lava :D
Random chicken, coconut milk and hokkien noodles with a packet of indofood’s opor ayam
Wooow nice, got me hungry
I'm not sure where you can find RNChicken
But I'm not sure I want to have my diced chicken's stats determined by a diceroll, seems dicey
so we ordered cheap sushi
the picture i took ⬆️ (with boyfriends phone)
An alter ego huh
Also the little plastic fake grass separators, hahaha
It's making me hungry again
Chicken and rice soup with mushrooms, green onions, eggs, butter, and miso, and a tiny matcha latte for ‘dessert.’
i accidentally put one of them in my mouth xD
looks delicious 😋
Omnomnom 😋
Oh wow, they look delicious! :-) I've been consistently failing at making good cinnamon buns for years. Is the recipe you used somewhere on the internet?
https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/melt-in-your-mouth-maple-cinnamon-rolls/ !! I love her recipes :D
Thank youuuuu 👍 ❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜
So does that mean you now have a formal obligation to make cinnamon rolls?
Or the pastry police will show up
Or the FBI, the federal baking institute
xD
I think so. I've already seen a suspiciously slow car cruising repeatedly in front of my windows. The blinking cupcake on the roof always gives away the pastry police.
I'd better get baking before they take action against me.
Who needs warning lights when you got a blinking cupcake
cuuuuupcaaaaaake dreamy facial expression
Bubur ayam (chicken congee) for breakfast! 🍽️
Need one for me, ASAP.
Are those krupuk? For breakfast? My world has been turned upside down.
Yes those are kerupuk 😂 For breakfast we put kerupuk in our bubur and nasi goreng
Bubur instan enjoyer be like :v

Oooo those look good 🍓
that looks absolutely delicious 😋
im doing an attempt at making Pierogi, and man, its much harder work than i assumed
my marble rolling pin isnt enough to flatten the dough this time, i need to actually put pressure on it (what do you mean i got lazy since i've got a marble rolling pin?)
Huuh I had never heard about marble rolling pins. Does it really help for most doughs? How heavy are we talking?
fried noodles for breakfast 🍽️ (Ordered btw)
🍜 ooo have a nice breakfast!
but the noodles are spicy
most doughs i simply roll it over it, without putting any pressure, and it makes the dough flat :P
i ran into it by accident one time in a shop, and i was like 'Marble 😍 must have' it turned out to be the last one they were selling
before, i'd have to use pressure when making most doughs, and after i got the marble rolling pin, i'd simply roll it over the dough xD
spicy, my one weak point xD was it good? :)
good there are some additional toppings such as chicken katsu, meatballs and crackers
awesome :)
i think yesterday i made pasta, and maybe i should get a pasta machine xD
Pasta hmm I haven't eaten in a long time I think I want to order
so a manual one is priced around 30 to 60, and an automatic one is 120 🤔 but the automatic one seems to be unable to do the specific one i want :P
watching a video now, which is rating the devices :P
This makes da pasta
Ohno this one also makes da pasta
Guess it's a pastaparty over here
xD
well, the one is automatic, but the other is cheaper, and the one can be cleaned in dishwasher, and the other has to be cleaned manually, and one has a 'if you use it incorrectly, it'll break', where the other is easier to use, and so on :P
lol xD
first batch of Pierogi was absolutely delicious 😋
though the dough was a bit too thick sometimes (i think) and tasted a bit like dutch pancakes 😅
Show us? :D
ah, i can take a picture of the ones i boiled, but they still need to be fried
the last batch, we didnt take a picture and just ate it to test it :P then today i boiled the other ones, and later today either me or my boyfriend will fry them :P
after they're fried, they have a lovely brown crispy look :P
on this plate is a meal for at least 2 or 3 people :P
i have over 3 plates with this amount, and for lunch i hope my sister and her husband will be here, sooooo that'll be purfect :P
they havent ever had Pierogi before :P
Me neither ^^ They look tasty! I first encountered that food in the video game Don't Starve, and I always kept it in a corner of my mind as something to try to make some day ^^
Made this bento style thingy yesterday and it slapped
Made a pumpkin stuffed with meat, rice and vegetables :D
Anyone hungry for a delicious German meal?
Is that second one a soup or a drink?
@compact scaffold The second one is a soup, it is liver dumpling soup
woah all those foods look delicoius 😋
What is that third thing?
my brain assumes its chocolate milk or coffee under whipped cream, but im also curious :P
It looks like either coco with cream, or coffee with similar
Plot twist. It’s just a cup of cream.
Insulation foam
It's a photography cream thing!
Actually I'm wrong, they use shaving foam to simulate cream I believe
Extremely unflattering angle lol but its my first time trying Dragon's Breath
@remote pagoda @wooden pivot The drink is Coffee with Asbach German Brandy topped with whipped cream and cocoa powder
yayyyy i was mostly correct :D
Tfw you wanna decorate a gingerbread cookie but you don't feel like putting much effort into it
の の
も
へ
awww へのへのもへじ ftw XD
It is simple... efficient... recognizable... Truly peak art
Does it mean something?
no meaning, just characters used to draw a face~
┐('~`;)┌
thats so cute >v<
It reminds me of the "default"japanese scarecrow faces
Yep, it is the Japanese placeholder face 😅
Google へのへのもへじ
oh yeah, sorry, here's a bit more context about what the face is!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henohenomoheji
Henohenomoheji (へのへのもへじ) or hehenonomoheji (へへののもへじ) is a face known to be drawn by Japanese schoolchildren using hiragana characters. The word breaks down into seven hiragana characters: he (へ), no (の), he (へ), no (の), mo (も), he (へ), and ji (じ). The first two he are the eyebrows, the two no are the eyes, the mo is a nose, and the last he is the...
Red fruits cookies (made with whole fruits, not jam! :D )
looks tasty, but it looks like chocolate, so my brain would be confused :P
It's because of the bad light ^^ It's actually pretty red! (damn winters and their early sunsets :p )
Ooooh looks good :D Recipe online?
it's on the back of the corner syrup bottle adjusted along the years of course to the best method that works for myself
let me get u a picture
mine isn't a whole pie so it's adjusted for regular cupcake pan
Thanks 😄 👍
I've looked for corn syrup the other day, but we don't seem to have that in France. The closest I could get was glucose syrup.
Does corn syrup have any taste, or is it just sweet?
Google says that they can be the same thing. It is sweet. Thick like honey just not healthy 🤣
ahhhhh, nevermind what i said then :)
my brain says its marshmallows, is it? :P
Yes those are marshmallows
hmmmm looks tasty 😋
That sparkling blue is so pretty 😲
wait, what is below the marshmallows? (i assumed it was a plate >.< )
I was wondering too!
What are the white spiky things to the left?
Cuttlefish 😮
no clue what hotpot is, but it looks great :)
And, does it come all spiky like that (...is it the tentacles?) or is it prepared and cut to look spiky?
I’m assuming it’s similar to squid.
you score (cut) the squid so it will curl up when you cook it
Oooh ! Interesting. Thanks for the answer!
Now I’m craving grilled cuttlefish. Sadly squid is a lot easier to find around here (they taste similar but I like cuttlefish better for some reason, like it’s a little richer and maybe a bit between squid and octopus in flavor to me?), and it’s not really grilling season either. 😔
(now if only there was a lot of explanations as to 'the reason if you add ingredient to the recipe, the mixture reacts in this way', then learning recipes would be a ton easier)
i mean, i've picked up this one for example:
Sugar effects the freezing point, so if you make a sugar syrup (golden syrup), and add that to any fruit smoothie you make & freeze, that's perfect for popsicles, because the fruit popsicle melts easier on the tongue
Food is magic. End of story
Found a sad coconut
🥥
aww :P
my lunch (Nasi Padang) and a cat who really wants to eat it
that face 😂
Eat the cat.
What're the side dishes?
🤤
Nasi kucing
Beef rendang, sambal ijo & boiled cassava leaves~
Yashh it was super good 💚
been a while since i ate nasi padang 🥺
I came to this chatroom at the wrong time. II have not had any food yet for today.
*Everything is so delicious
yea i know that feeling :P
Tried out some fancy orange cake today. Looks good enough for a first try, but... The cream inside didn't settle properly, and so it was impossible to serve a proper, not-fleeing slice 😅 Anyway, the recipe is from Boone Bake on YouTube. And by the way, despite my failure, it tastes awesome :D
it looks awesome to me, and taste is the most important thing about food :P
I find the trick with the orange slices so COOL :D There are people with such good ideas. You slice the oranges, candy them in syrup, then lay them on the cooking tray, and pour the sheet cake batter on top of them. That way, they become imprisoned in the cake, and don't fall out!
ooooooo smart!
OMG i missed this channel 😭😭😭😭
I made this recently!
I made 6 of these for the fam.
They're beef burgers, with toasted rice buns (i made the buns), cheddar sauce, pepper mushrooms, and bacon.
I paired it with freshly fried potato chips!
Aaaah I love burgers they're one of my favorite salty foods! It looks great and I want one now 😄
Hahahaha!!! I used to post so many food pictures here before... But i got too busy that i eventually forgot this channel exists hahahah!
But wow, food surely is something UwU
My weekly treat is on hold
At work I buy the sandwiches for sandwich Friday
But I'm saving a little, so sadly I can only buy the tasty sandwiches
For other people
Awwwe! I rarely eat out...
I just treat myself by buying ingredients then cooking for my family!!!
I love cooking and my family now prefers my cooking than from restaurants sksksksk
i made butter today
tastes just like storebought creamy butter :P
meaning it tastes great :P
and the leftover juice tastes like skimmed milk :P
Huh! Made it by hand or with a machine?
shaking in a bottle, so by hand :P
I u can make them by hand
Oh, you can do that? O.O
That sounds so awesome!!!
With a bottle?
watching 2 videos (1 episode of a series, and a short video :P)
How long does it take?
Whipping cream is so expensive in my country so i just buy ready-made butter
How sore were your arms afterwards? :D
Making buttertakes about 5 to 10 mins of whisking! So it doesn't really makes ur arm some
yea, i looked up videos for a while, and i gathered that you do it manually this way:
fill a bottle 50%, screw a lid on it (meaning no spilling) and shake
it'll reach whipped cream state, and it'll be very hard to keep shaking, so use all your fury and aggression, and after a while the whipped cream breaks into butter & juice, which sploshes when you shake, then you're finished
Hahaha that's true!
i did it not to fast, so half an hour, but 20 minutes should be the time you need this way
its a workout
Fun fact! The liquid there is buttermilk!
arms were fine :P
yea, but it tasted just like skimmed milk :P
IKR?!
i drank it :P
Hahahaha!!
but yeah, you can also make butter with a mixer
it'll be faster
but i did not want the extra dishes
so bottle :P
This is me
worst part is, i have a dishwasher :P
Anyway, IMO, using a whisk and a bowl is faster than the bottle method
That's cool!!!
yes :P
i dont know what infused cream is :P
i simply bought cream at the store, that i normally use for making whipped cream, or for making creamy chocolate milk :P
Oooh! It's cbasically incorporating ingredients to the cream the day before making your butter
You can infuse it with garlic and nori (real good for japanese style fried rice)
Or garlic and herbs (for toasts and pasta)
And a whole lot more!
Just trust your ancestors
Aaah! It's what we often say when trusting our intuitions when cooking
ooooo i was unfamiliar with that :)
Coz if you just go with your flow while cooking, it often turns out great
great idea
Interesting, very interesting all that!
I want some :D
Chicken panang curry with naan bread.
I had some mushrooms in roquefort sauce, with rice
I have a rough time with the flavour, but this was softened by the cream
hmmmm 😋
Oooo that looks like a yummy spread of 반찬! Looks to me you nailed it pretty well! Do you not like kimchi, or did you just not have any available?
Banchan? 👀
Interesting.
Banchan or bansang is a collective name for small side dishes served along with cooked rice in Korean cuisine.
Yuuushhh I even sometimes make some banchan when eating non-Korean food :>>>
Lunch 😎
Looks delish!! Makes me hungry, haven't had breakfast yet 😋
hmmmm looks tasty 😋
Sus
It was 😌
This channel has been very quiet. I guess no one has eaten in a few days. 😔
I offer this photo as tribute.
we have those monster noodles here as well.
hehe yes it's from Malaysia, I also like to eat Fish Muruku
the absolute truth nods
those foodies and snackies look tasty :P
yesterday my boyfriend made me hamburgers 😋
and we're trying to eat empty the freezer once more, so that i can thaw out the freezer once more, and then refill it with all kinds of meals :P
we lasted really long with what was in the freezer this time, partly cuz we often ate food that wasnt from the freezer :P
yum hamburger, haven't had that in a while 🍔
My breakfast
hmmm that looks tasty 😋
we had soup tonight :) pea soup 👌 😋
store-bought :-3
but im planning to make it in big amounts one day :)
same for lentil soup 😋
and my freezer simply is not complete without veggies soup in it, so yeah that has to be made as well
Soup good
