Learned to make tomato soup from scratch this weekend
With that I also learned to make tomato paste from scratch lol
That look sooo good 🫶🏻
Ytd mom made spicy bamboo shoot, sayur kangkung and serundeng daging (sorry idk the english for the last 2!), Cooked pumpkin and fried chicken it's so good
Okay now I’m hungry again hahaha
Sayur kangkung 🫶🏻
sayur kangkung is one of the best
i really like sweets!! cherry blossom green tea, Salt-Pickled Sakura Cherry Blossom Tea, soon hari apple mango, Jans Milk Chewy Candy Matcha, Mammos Friend Green Tea Hard Candy Matcha, Kasugai Hokkaido Matcha Milk Hard Candy, Habutae Mochi Candy - mochi, Habutae Mochi Candy - momo white peach, Habutae Mochi Candy - Cherry Blossom, GIN GINS Original Chewy Ginger Candy

those look DELICIOUS
They were my family ate it all in one day
Yeah hold on I actually found this recipe
my boyf's also gon eat sayur kangkung tonight!
I guess the english for sayur kangkung is stirfried water spinach and for srundeng daging is dried shredded coconut beef 😁🤤
ty for helping in translating!
the best kind of dinner
indomie dokdok or stirfried (but also flooded with spicy broth) indomie 😂
perfect when it's cold and you're hungry but don't feel like eating rice lol 🤣
exactly! also that typa indomie is my sisters favorite i usually stir fry my indomie after cooking it 😭
in my place I call it indomie tektek! I sometimes stirfry it with oyster sauce, garlic, and chilipeppers 🤤
Woaahhh i just have indomie today and i want indomie again :)

🥰🥰🥰🥰Awww Thanks so much! Food is definitely a love language I enjoy sharing 💞💞💞
Okonomiyaki from last week, and eggs with herbs and cheese on whole wheat flatbread from tonight
This foodie chat needs more pasta love🍝
I tried making pasta from scratch for the first time and it came out so great that I've become addicted to the process! Was always daunted by homemade pasta since I don't have a pasta machine but turns out you can just use a rolling pin, albeit with more effort involved
top left to bottom right: tagliatelle carbonara, pomodoro, aglio olio, fettuccine bolognese and spring onion ravioli
What are ya'lls favorite pasta?
Thai chicken and rice with tomato and cucumber salad
I cooked it and it ended up being too spicy for me to eat 😭 it only had 1/2 tsp of Sriracha sauce in the ENTIRE dish....
Puttanesca
Ah yes, the fleshiness of the olive and the salty brininess of capers goes so well! Def my top ranked pasta also
Mushroom ravioli, chicken Alfredo, and gnocchi soup are my favorite pastas
Oh and lasagna
lasagna ofc 🤣 like garfield
what's the lower right called, the green one
Used to make a lot of chicken Alfredo in my uni years, when I wanted to feel like eating fancy cause cream and cheese cost a pretty penny🤣
It's a ravioli! Green from spring onions and has a spring onion & ricotta filling
The sauce is also spring onion(cause I blended a lot of them to make this dish lol) and coconut cream
👩🏻🍳Homemade Kimchi jjigae & Chili 🌶️ Gyoza 🥟🥬 soup 🍲
Me tooooo I loved Garfield
Some Toppoki my sister made for dinner last night
Flavor bomb lamb keema curry with turmeric rice (nasi kuning). Recipe was supposed to be saffron rice but didn't have any on hand
I haven't try to many pasta sauce, but bolognese is comfort food for me!
I just finished making packed lunches for the hubbie for the week! Cheesy eggs over rice, miso carrots, seasame broccoli, and mashed sweet potato!
Hehehe! Recreated the Shin Kamen Rider diner dish with friends to eat while watching the movie
Im attempting to make my first cheesecake, y'all. Pray for me 🙏
Good luck hun!
Fresh gnocchi is heavenly!
I made mine but when I woke up after making at the night before it was gone😭 but I'm family said it was delicious 😊
But made mini baguettes
It's a classic for a reason! I like to make mine with milk for extra body and creaminess 🙂
Loove chewing on those soft pillowy potato parcels
Thought this was a deconstructed burger at first lol then I notice the meager two french fries jutting out the plate and thought now that's just ridiculous XD and saw the whole plate
I have no clue if this is a thing other people do or not (I would guess probably given how common it is on shave ice), but I started putting li hing on popsicles and such a while back and I can no longer eat the melon flavored melona bars plain as they taste too bland now.
I bet that's tasty. I love those Melona bars. I may have to experiment with some spices now. Wonder how it'd be with Tajin on it.
Hmmm... I do have one melon and a few banana ones left and I have Tajin.
I got some yesterday that are coconut flavor I've yet to try one
chicken cordon bleu by solaria! so good but the crispy outer is so tiring to chew 🤣
on the background is nasi goreng bebek cabe hijau or green chilli duck fried rice. also from solaria (duh) and also so good
Ooh, I've always ordered that one as a child, I prefer their seafood fried rice now xD
I prefer mie goreng (fried noodle) cz I can't finish the nasi goreng if I eat there lol. portion is too big even for my bf. gotta finish in take away, but we never take away 😭
Upcoming festival; so I made a bunch of cookies to share with friends 😄
The light ones are triple hazelnut cookies (chopped hazelnut + hazelnut oil + "hazelnut" butter); the dark ones are cocoa + chocolate chips + melty peanut butter center.
I bought jajan pasar (jajan: snacks, pasar: market) or market snacks.
jajan pasar actually includes klepon and cenil for the sweet ones, but the vendor near my house doesn't sell them.
so I bought savory ones which are 'arem arem' (it's savory rice, chicken, wrapped and steamed inside a banana leaves)
(not to be confused with 'lemper', arem2 is with rice, lemper is with sticky rice, the fillings and composition and wrappers are quite the same).
but that arem2 is not tasty 😭 it supposed to be tasty, maybe I'm just faced with wrong jajanmaker person lol 😭 but it's okay!
I also bought 'sosis solo' or 'solo sausage' (solo being one of the city in central java). but it's not a sausage at all.. it's a chicken egg roll 😂 it's so good, thick chicken fillings, and yummy!
only paid 0.66 usd for 4 snacks 🤤
Hungry but not in the mood to really cook. So I made Arepas con Queso and drizzled a little hot sauce on them
Today I wanted to eat a croissant (again). So I went to a place that sells a croissant (again). And I brought a croissant (again). And I returned home with the croissant (again). And then I ate the croissant (again).
So, I found an artisan bakery hidden inside a Chinatown alley amidst shops and eateries near my neighborhood that serves scrumptious & fresh home-baked pastries, especially their flavourful croissants here, in a humble & down-to-earth diner. I decided to buy one that caught my attention for its appetizing visual which is called "Wildberry Forest" in their menu, a twice-baked butter croissant filled with almond frangipane, strawberry confit, fresh blueberries and blackberries. It’s a delightful & pleasant treat that the effort is really worth trying to taste. 🥐
🫐
Kwassant
I made peach cobbler and it was like really good
I don't have pics yall gotta trust me on this
Nasi padang made by my wife 🤤
Is the hazelnut butter like nutella???
My sister made these for breakfast Saturday- eggs baked in little nests made of shredded cheese (can't remember if it was mozzarella or parmesan) and hashbrown shredded potatoes
And no it wasn't anyone's birthday just old paper plates lol
Half of them she made with quail eggs
My sister is an excellent cook and baker
Need to buy hazelnuts and make those cookies 😩 they look awesomee
Seems peachy to me😊
It's BAGEL TIME. Crunchy skin and chewy insides so good, simply slathered with cream cheese and creamy scrambled eggs 😋
Gosh, I love bagels
No, it's how you call butter that you cook in a pot till it browns and starts smelling like hazelnut (about five minutes cooking on a low flame, for about 130g of butter). It really does give a hazelnut flavor to the recipe you use it in afterwards.
It looks absolutely delicious
Think it's normally called brown butter in English, but I get where ur coming from with beurre ✨noisette✨ also smells nutty sweet too like hazelnut
If u say hazelnut butter people will think of it as a hazelnut based praliné, more famously Nutella ofc😆
Aah ok ^^ I didn't know that! English is obviously not my first language X)
That's considered a praline? I thought pralines were those pecan candies my mom used to make around Christmas time
I really don't know the correct term, but it could be any nut that's been cooked in caramel and let harden and you crack them into bite sized pieces( the one you described) and if you blend that into a smooth paste it's also a praline
Oh neat
I made cream stew again but by now I'm sure you all know what it looks like sinxe I make it a lot
Waaaa that must be warm and cozy
Dear terang bulan aka martabak manis,
I'm glad to have known you until now. You make this lonely stomach become filled with your fluffy & chewy honeycomb texture basking in the warm sunlight, soaked in butter inside and out 🧈 , topped with grated cheddar cheese 🧀 , drizzled with condensed milk 🥛 as if dropped from heaven. I love you so much for your rich, buttery, sweet taste in your generous fillings & toppings that makes me feel addicted to you. Thank you so much for giving me such a guiltiest pleasure treat I’ve ever tasted, sinful but heavenly delicious. Definitely guaranteed to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth and also really helpful to gain the success rate when proposing your crush in front of their parents.
Ohhh, terang bulan ,can I call you martabak manis too?, please come to Coral Island soon.
EDIT: just adjusted few things there in case someone want to put me into their watchlist. 🫣👀
lm just got belly pork rame so yummy
breakfast with soto ayam!
soto: yellow herbed soup
ayam: chicken
soto ayam: Indonesian yellow (herbed) chicken soup
the soto doesn't look so special but it's so fragrant! even for me, pure javanese woman who's used to fragrant foods, this soto is special kinda fragrant which I don't find anywhere. this is just like how my mum made them!
with quail eggs, chicken intestine, chicken feet, chicken satay, and battered tempe. there are also tempe crackers but I found them after I took the photos!
only paid 1.2 usd for all of this! 🤤😋
I didn’t get a picture of the final product but this turned out yummy! I made asparagus and corn on the cob to go with it too c:
Today I visited friends in another town and we went out for dinner, so delicious! 😋
Veggie Pad Thai
Hadn’t cooked as much the last couple weeks as I was super busy, but today I have injera (cheat version with bread yeast plus yogurt as I didn’t plan several days ahead), spinach, and chicken stew.
Blasphemy 👿
I found very cheap plums on a market so I made these fruits paste but they take foreveeeeer to dry. I have apricots to do next and I need the plate 🥲
Just happened to find some Coral island fruits at the Jewel.
Rambutan and Dragon fruit! How you liking them?
Rambutan is one of my favorite fruit 😍
Wife and I split these. Love Dragonfruit and the Rambutan. Lychee was a little more tart than I expected. Very good though
(they might not have been ripe, they're new to us.)
Oh I missed the Lychee picture 😅
Glad you and your wife get to try them 🙌
Personally I find that sweeter lychee are very round and darker red colored!
My wife and I both agreed to try everything without having any idea how to tell what was ripe 😆
Extremely belated buuuuuuut I want some
I'm dying to see responses to durian
fluffiest donut I've ever eaten! they're potato donuts from bunaaca yogyakarta Indonesia ☝🏻❤️ happy independence day Indonesia! got them from independence discount xixii
Miso ramen for lunch today
Yesterday, there was a reunion gathering with some friends. Since the event was close to the national holiday, there’s always turmeric rice on menu in every events I attended, like national celebrations, birthday parties, business gatherings, housewarmings and even weddings, usually served in large servings and shaped like a cone which is often called tumpeng in local language. I love how people appreciate the important values behind this yellow-colored rice cooked with turmeric, coconut milk and lemongrass as a symbol of good fortune, prosperity, and wealth. Since there are usually a lot of them served, I asked for some to take home to stock up. And this time, I had it topped with chicken cutlets for breakfast and ready for today with full stomach. 🍚 💛 🍗
Been doing mostly rice, tortillas, and flatbreads lately and wanted something different, so I made a braided sandwich loaf with whole spelt and emmer wheat.
Ooooo, look at that crumb. That's a good bread 🤤
Cute little meringues I made, to go on individual lemon pies
This morning’s harvest of bloobs and strawbs from the garden 👩🏻🌾
AAAAA foods! And the story behind it ❤️ Love love love it, thank you for sharing everyone
My mom ate an okra and it reminds me of coral island 😂
I've always been the weird one who actually prefers low-key overcooked and crispy cookies rather than soft and gooey
Oh well. More for me.
Overcooked cookies are the best for dunking in drinks ❤️
Did you save some for me?🥺 slightly overcooked cookies are also my favorites!
I still got some more dough left-over! Come swing by and I'll over-bake you a batch!
jasuke: jagung (corn) susu (milk) keju (cheese)
jasuke: comiche 😂
I want crispy cookies like goood time cookies! I never buy the soft and gooey ones because if I want them I'd buy fudgy brownies instead😍❤️
Kindred spirits~ ❤️
Shipping myself in a box to your place
I literally JUST talked to Ardian about wanting a cup of warm Jasuke yesterday, the weather here is perfect for it
@zinc birch that looks amazing. I've never heard of this before
Didn't realize that was corn at first and thought it was mango, milk, with coconut flakes on top 😂
it's Indonesian snack! very high in calorie lol
It reminds me of corn soup in Japan. Basically the same idea, we just didn't put cheese on top (but it would've been delicious if we had lol)
well in Indonesia it's not soupy, the milk is condensed milk, we have corn soup too but it's different with jasuke
so it's more like steamed corn topped with condensed milk and grated cheese
this is jasuke
you can easily make one too! @sharp remnant
I personally make it without condensed milk. I make it with grated steamed corn, cheese, margarine, and chili sauce
Oooo, I'll have to give it a try sometime! Thank you for explaining it to me. ❤️ Can you make it with frozen corn or does it taste funny if you do that? 😆
idk if you use frozen corn bcs I always use the fresh one from the cobs and I 'peel' them myself with knife. it's more fresh, sweet as its own and juicy. I guess the frozen one won't taste funny but surely there are difference in those 3.
Yeaa.. when its rain and cold outside, jasuke will do the job to make us in warm and comfort 🤤
Come come.. im gonna buy some jasuke for u
Made lasagna soup! I am so frickin’ full now 😩
COMFY!
Made spaghetti with meatballs. Balls are not very ball shaped 😄
TOMATO! and Pasta! Me want 😍
omg thank you for reminding me of this simple dish 🤤
Oh it was actually some peanuts 😂
I made a lovely loaf of bread today. Forgot to flour it on the second rise so it unfortunately deflated when I tried to transfer from the bowl to my bread cloche, but the crunch of the crust is just immaculate
The tinfoiled pan is brownies…they did not come out that great. Too much oil 🥲
Climate change is real and it's already starting to affect my health. Because of this, I have begun to feel out of shape lately. So, I started to get used with healthy diet, one of my menu was smoothie bowls. This smoothie bowl I ate was a mix of chocolate, choco protein, homemade peanut butter, cashew, chia seeds, poppy seeds, banana, desiccated coco and multigrain milk. Both tasty and healthy recipe in a single bowl, definitely recommended for you to start a small step to being healthy and happy. 🍫 🥜 🥥
That looks so good😳 I just ate and now I'm hungry again
Please eat & drink well too, you guys need a lot of nutrition & stamina to finish the deadline. 💪 💪 💪
Yum!!! So beautifully plated too
Continuing my simple food summer: sautéed cabbage with white beans and basil from my garden, herbed potatoes, and a simple chopped salad of my garden tomatoes and oregano plus cucumber, mushrooms, bell pepper, and red onion from the farmers market ☺️
Issan region style Hoy Tat
My sister's birthday cake tonight
We had Korean BBQ and hot pot as her birthday dinner tonight
I liked it I love bulgogi
can we show drink photos in here ?
Chirashidon. Tuna, salmon and avocado on rice
When life gives you a sad, almost bad banana at the back of the fridge you forgot about, make banana pancakes - lesser known proverb
hoka hoka bento box and mcflurry es kopyor (coconut in red syrup ice) for friday!
(hoka hoka bento is the first japanese food (now indo owned) in Indonesia)
Yum!!!!
Dinner and dessert. Everything but the ice cream was made from scratch. Lilikoi fish, vegetarian luau (greens cooked in coconut milk), zucchini fries, potato and sweet potato salad with homemade calamansi mayo, and brown rice for dinner. And dessert was ice cream with hot fudge and macadamia nuts.
Finally able to get a satisfying and even browning on my Basque cheesecake with the middle part being creamy! I use an old conventional oven that just heats from the bottom and broil on top, so with my previous failed Basque attempts, I get a lot of burnt (not the good burnt) layer on the bottom without a smidge of browning on the surface which always frustrated me. You really have to be familiar with your oven to bake this deceptively simple cake, but I guess if you own a convection oven it will be easier
Whoah that looks gorgeous and delicious! Truly impressed that you took all that time to learn your oven to get it juuuuust right
Thank you! Not really 'learn' just trials and errors 😊
they're wonky but yummy! bolognese and american pie, only 10 usd for both! (it's domino's)
For a second i thought they are tempe lol
😂
This part xD
I bought them with oren food it makes em wonky. if we bought it with genggam food, dominos themself will delivery them, with the big steel box behind their motorcycle
I use Tchibo, it’s a whole bean system instead of pods. I don’t know if the grinder would be loud or acceptable to you though. It’s not loud compared to my sisters Breville machine, but it’s louder than say a Kuerig
I went back to using an old timey percolator but I’m not sure what brand! I don’t want to go back to pods now -w-
We have a french press, drip system, and a Bialetti percolator 😆 We uh...really like coffee. @frozen harbor Do you want to stick with the pods or are you looking to move away from them?
I'm a little jealous omg
I really love the percolator and I had to reckon with the fact that a brand who made pods that I thought tasted terrible made very good regular coffee....
Was it the San Francisco brand? Cause we had that experience with them lol 😂 We mainly just use the press because it makes enough for the two of us. The other two just make enough for that afternoon cup XD
Nah, it’s more local to me I think (I live in the eastern US) and I was floored!!
Japanese Shabu Shabu (hotpot)
Some thin beef and chicken slices, with vegetables and condiments on the side
Ooooo, that looks so good ❤️ Really miss shabu shabu/sukiyaki parties 😭 Hope you enjoyed all the delicious foods!
Kue Talam, this traditional steamed snack reminds me of critter scent.
Hahahah its exactly shaped like critters scent
Vertuo, Pixie, and the Inissia Nespresso machines are my definite top condenders. Loud, but SO worth it. We have the last two at home and they are my whole life, but I buy Lavazza pods instead and highly recommend Deciso and Ristretto. Way less acidic and much stronger than Nespresso’s. There’s more coffee in Lavazza capsules, and it also comes so much hotter. Better imo. Adore adore adoreeee
My sister used to work at a cafe and is obsessed w her press and being all gourmet (still don’t know how any of her machines work 😭) but I’m just so in love with the ristretto because I’m a simple hooligan like that
give us a review once it’s done!!! Would love to hear how it goes!! ☺️
I got a free fruit tart from the farmers market so of course I had to warm that up and put Cherry Garcia on it 😋
Green bean, tofu, and pork with chili paste, and some rice with coconut milk.
Cheesecake
NOOOOO 🥺🥺🥺🥺 I am SO SORRY
So I can already tell you, if I’m not mistaken … if you’re looking for solely pod coffee, a touch less costly than the gran lattissima, go for the pixie nespresso on amazon
The milk frother feature is soo sexy though i’m so sorry that you’d be losing that 💔💔😒
Pixie is a fairly basic model but it’s way more cost effective and gives you some to splurge on pods instead 🥺
For frothing we have the nespresso aeroccino at home and it works like a charm
I also have a couple of wands which work perfectly when you don’t feel like cleaning up or transferring hehe
Good wands on amazon start from $15! And the aeroccino starts at either $80 or $90 at target, I don’t rememebr how much it is now, mine is a couple years old
oops then the aeroccino is def the way to go 🥺
also for pods, since lavazza can be either be too weak/strong or an “acquired taste” (flavor is different), i’d also recommend looking at peet’s!! but i’m sure you guys have it locked down flavor wise so i won’t meddle 😊
chocolate mousse with chocolate and strawberry ganache
Can I have one bite please? That looks so yummy🥺
Oooh I want some! Those little jars are so cute too!!!
yoshinoya beef rendang bowl and es cendol 1 liter! both so tasty! (and currently viral right now)
-furiously looks up es cendol- One of these days I've gotta try that 😂 It looks good
we have es cendol in the game too! surya sends us on mail during fall 🤤
Holy moly that looks delicious
First time tasting boba~ but next time I'll probably choose fruit tea boba
boba high key depends on the place and also to your liking. I kinda like boba but not in every place. I specifically like 1 cheap boba place with dark milky chocolate (priced less than 1usd). I tried a lot more expensive choco boba, nothing tastes right.
but they're not around much anymore as a lot of FNB place closed after pandemic.
what I'm tryna say is if you don't like this place's milk boba, you might haven't found your favorite place yet.
boba is so... personal 😁
ouu 1usd . mine was around 5usd xd
Japanese omurice with teriyaki chicken and curry
Milk tea is also such a personal thing, ya know? 😆 It's kind of like sweet tea here in the US. Everyone has a certain level of tea to sugar they like; so some people like it really sweet and others (me!) don't like it sweet at all. That choco boba sounds amazing though 🤤
I was sent my late Aunt Frankie's baked macaroni recipe by my aunt Tonya I got it in the mail today, it was always my favorite
Best thing about having a holiday dinner at her place
rambutan shrimp and melted cheese shrimp balls.
(no rambutan used for this menu ofc) very tasty and cheap! only less than 1 usd per box
love that so much!!! congrats on finding the right machine
the coffee quest comes to a close at last
👩🏻🍳Tried making the whipped feta dip w/roasted broccoli 🥦 and chickpeas, drizzle of honey 🍯 & chili 🌶️ oil & naan 🫓- Turned out yummy 🤤
Recipe?
Thanks for sharing, I'll try to make that!
Froot smoot time
OHHHH PURPLE! Blueberry? I want some 🫠🤤
Same that looks so good ❤️ Thanks for the inspiration for tomorrow
Banana, blueberry, and blackberry! It was so good
aaagg now im craving for some smootheee
Okay you all might find this weird, I think tomorrow I'm gonna get some avocado smoothie
with chocolate??
With chocolate condensed milk yes! So how we make it, we gonna put avocado in the blender, add ice or water depending on the consistency you want and sugar to taste, blend blend, pour it to glass that's already drizzled with chocolate condensed milk.
Some said these are weird snack combo, but it works for me... (chicken nuggets with shredded cheddar & homemade es cendol)
i mean.. its tasty
Avocado smoothie is so delicious!
Morning fruit plate ❤️ Busy formatting stuff, so kept it easy
Charcute breakfast
I made custard mooncakes (attempted to anyway), early mid-autumn fest everyone🥮
Oh my gosh so pretty!!!!
aaaaaaahhh its so prettyy !
Gorgeous 😍 I'm sure they taste just as wonderful as they look
Thanks guyyyysss
I might still need to tweek the recipe a little, but I like that it's not overbearingly sweet like most mooncakes you can buy
Breakfast for lunch 🥰
Yum!
you're in australia? or
I’m in the states! I made it around 3pm for a later lunch c:
Thank you! It was delicious c:
First lunch in Santorini! Fried zucchini, tomato croquettes, green salad, saganaki, and baklava with vanilla ice cream
im craving for some ice cream now ;d
share som plis xD
Dinner last night was even more incredible. Shrimp in garlic cream sauce, roasted veggies, squid in some kind of magical purée, fava bean dip, grilled halloumi, and a bottle of delicious wine
That all looks so delicious and I hope you're having a wonderful time ❤️
is the 2nd one eggplant?
A mix of eggplant, onion, tomato, and zucchini
sounds really delicious
It was so good!
Didn’t get any pictures of our lunch but we just got off our boat tour so about to grab some dinner and gelato 😋
I made dango
👩🏻🍳Homemade Korean Spicy 🌶️ Pork, steamed eggs, & tofu w/a side of kimchi radish for Dinner 🍽️
The kimchi radish is store bought 😅 I didn’t have time to make that from scratch
buying es cendol yoshinoya for the 2nd time. only 5.74 usd (89k rupiah). they're too sweet in a way that you need a lot of icecube to water them down, but so creamy, fragrant, tastes so authentic too. the jelly, cendol and boba are so fun to chew!
yoshinoya is a japanese beef bowl chain but es cendol is Indonesian's menu!
WANT
with that sweetness you need 1 liter of icecube so we basically get 2 liters of es cendol drink which is a win
Is that available at all Yoshinoyas? I would love to try one
So much fish. Too much fish
I guess it's only at Indonesian's yoshinoya, but most probably gonna stay for long. where you at?
I’m in California. I was hoping they would be selling at all their location. I have never had it and hoping to try it.
there's no such thing as too much seafood
seafood shoud've been that much or more
🤤
theres never too much for fish

It was sooooo good. I’m just not used to eating so much meat
I made some last week! The 12 hour cook time to make the broth meant my house smelled like pork for days
Shepherds pie. Mom made it. I helped (according to mom I helped a lot but it didn't feel like it) It came out perfect.
Possibly a dumb question, but how does one eat Tumpeng? I'm very curious about it after seeing it in the game. Do you just grab rice and sides on a plate, or eat with your hands?
I love mochi for its chewy & soft texture that comes in a variety of sweet flavours, like this peanut one. Its distinct texture and the act of savouring each bite can be deeply satisfying to be enjoyed slowly, also it can evoke feelings of comfort and fond childhood memories. In summary, eating mochi is all about taste, feelings and nostalgia that can bring such a sense of joy and happiness with its sweet & playful nature. For me, eating mochi is a unique and delightful experience that can evoke various feelings and sensations that goes beyond mere consumption, making it a beloved treat for many and brighten people’s day while making them smile. 🤍🍡🧡
As far as I know from my Indonesian friend, people eat tumpeng with their hands and start from the bottom up because It has the symbolic meaning & cultural philosophy behind it and you can read from these article that explain it more (https://www.nowjakarta.co.id/tumpeng-philosophy/). Hope this helps satisfy your curiosity.
Interesting! I'm really tempted to try making it myself. Thanks!
You plan to make Tumpeng? YAY! So Tumpeng basically is a rice dish (usually we make yellow rice for this but white rice also works) but instead of 1 portion, we make a big portion for like 5-10 people. Of course you can make small portion tho 😅
The Tumpeng itself is the shape of the rice when we serve it; it's a cone just like in the picture. And surrounding the cone are various side dishes! There are veggies, fried chicken, potato cake, tempeh, omelet, salted fish etc.
It is for special occasions like birthdays, or when your workplace celebrates big achievements.
Thank you for all of this! I loooooove to cook and specialize in Italian American dishes and I've been trying to really expand my skillset. Indo/Poly cuisine is not something that I come across here in Pennsylvania so it's tough to learn new recipes and even tougher to learn techniques, what dishes to serve with, or even how to eat! This game has characters mentioning dishes all the time I've never heard of and then start researching and they all sound sooooo good
I think Indonesian ingredients also start getting more common in Asian stores so it's definitely easier now if you want to try making Indonesian food!
For recipe I think Hetty McKinnon did write couple Indonesian recipes! Do check her out hehe
This is fried stuffed pancakes, a local street food that I love for several reasons, but one compelling reason for me to always love to take a little bite of this guilty pleasure is the satisfaction it gives from both sweet and savory cravings in a single dish. Whether I want something sweet or a desire for savory taste, it offers a delicious solution with its diverse fillings and flavors. This means that everyone can enjoy the pancake as a satisfying treat for various occasions and moods, making a delightful and convenient snack to love. 🥞 🍫 🥜
Food dump!
😄 you seemed to have visited Santorini just the day we left! We were there for a week for our honeymoon. Great food there, especially the tomato balls, they are soooo nice!!
This Volcano Dessert was so nice! It was bubbly 😄
That’s so funny! We actually were in Kamari Beach from 9/26-10/5! Small world!
I don’t know how I’m going to live without tomato fritters 😭
Same.. same 😭
My house didn’t smell like freshly baked bread so I had to solve that issue
look soooo fluffy
whoah xD you got volcano on your plate
What restaurant was that at?
La Colline in Fira
Gonna try and make my first EVER sourdough bread
Gotta make the starter first though and it takes at least two weeks
I tried to make pumpkin and cinnamon fruit paste. I'm pleasantly surprised by the result!
it looks like a pudding
It is actually sturdier than pudding. It's a kind of gummy candy made from fruits or vegetables.
You'd normally rather use quince, apple, pear, red fruits (raspberry...)... instead of pumpkin.
I can imagine it would be a healthier substitute for candies! Can we add milk so it can taste creamy?
im not sure how they are made but something tells me the fat content in milk or cream would mess with it in some way
I'm Indonesian and we cut tumpeng from the top. it's meant to be eaten together , but usually in each plate like how you eat cake or potluck party.
if you eat it together in one plate it's usually called 'BOTRAM' and it's sunda culture (sunda is a tribe in west java. we Indonesian have so many tribes and diff tribal language but we got a long well and we all can speak Indonesia). we can do botram with tumpeng/nasi kuning but I rarely see one. botram usually use savory white rice called nasi liwet and sunda's food.
it can be with your family, or neighbor, or in your office with your boss and other staff. it's prepared for celebration or we say 'syukuran' means to be grateful about something, like during independence day, wedding anniversary, birthday, opening a new office or new shop/business.
the first cut is done by the birthday person or the most respectable person in the room, like a mayor, your boss, or the neighborhood chief.
the yellow rice is a yellow savory fragrant rice, cooked with coconut milk, turmeric paste or powder, and other spices and herbs.
the side dish is usually herbed fried chicken, sambal, sweet soy sauce stir fried Tempe (called 'orek tempe' for short), thinly sliced omelette, beef floss, sliced cucumber, shrimp crackers, etc.
we can also, and commonly eat yellow rice with that side dish but not in tumpeng shape, in 1 person portion, every other day as a breakfast.
(we don't usually cook ourself nasi kuning or yellow rice for breakfast but there are a lot of street vendors selling them early in the morning. such a tasty and comfort food, makes you full til 2pm)
nasi: rice
kuning: yellow
thus.. nasi kuning: yellow rice
Thank you so much for this explanation! I love hearing about food in other cultures and this sounds delightful!
I really want to make some. Once construction is done on my house, I'll give it a try to celebrate
Hmm I don't know if you can add milk. It's supposed to keep for a long time, so I'm not sure milk would work with that. It's a three ingredients dish: fruit (that you need to cook and mash first), sugar, and pectin, which is a gum-like substance found in apples and other stuff. You can buy pectin as a dry powder, and you just add it to the rest. It cooks at a pretty high temperature (boiling sugar! you're making candy after all) so I'm not sure how milk would behave in that...
Answer above :p (for some reason it didn't add you the first time ^^)
Mung bean cakes
Ooh they look so cool!
They taste good too. I really like mooncakes. These are not traditional ones, but they're much easier to make.
Ooh thanks for the answer. Yeah, I don't think it would work with milk, but I do want to try making this. Thanks too for the recipe
You're welcome 🙂
For a more precise recipe, if you really do want to make it, it's supposed to be an equal weight of fruit and sugar (I use less sugar than that); and then follow instructions on the package of pectin regarding the amount and ways of adding it (although I assume some types of jam/jelly solidifyers would also work if you can't get pectin!).
They look so elaborate... I'd like to try one someday, traditional or not. I don't know where though ^^
Would you like the recipe? I follow one from YouTube. (I've tried a few from YouTube)
Tried making kanom krok for the first time ever. Didn’t have any good toppings/fillings handy so they’re just plain, and there is definitely an art to filling the little bowls in the pan exactly the right amount, but they still taste good at least.
Oh yeah, pl ease!
Beautiful!!!
I ordered a bday cake for my sis, she loves mint choco & strawberries so i requested the baker to make a cake with those two combination. And it arrived looking like corona virus😆😂😂
But the cake taste really good
OMGG WHYY hahah but i bet it tastes good!!
LAMFAOFKAJADK
its still looks better than the cake i made 😂
I baked a pumpkin pie for my colleagues! With lots of spices 🙂
Yum!!!
Grama just puts thin sliced green onions on top, those are really good first attempts
First soup of the season
is it carrot ?
Looks like chicken noodle
It is chicken noodle
just by a glance I know this cake is from Indonesia
Homemade mac and cheese! I might have gone a little overboard on the cheese 😂
You can never go overboard on the cheese!
True but it made the texture go from smooth to grainy 😅
When I mixed it up I might have overcompensated by adding additional cheese since it wasn’t cheesey enough
Do you make a roux to make your cheese sauce? I’ve seen recipes since coming to Canada that just uses milk and cheese and it makes no sense to me.
I have no idea. But then they eat Kraft dinner which is just an abomination.
I think they cook the pasta in the milk and add cheese? It was weird and I didn’t at lots of attention because not making a roux and a white sauce and adding lots of cheese, pepper and a bit of mustard powder made zero sense.
I do have a soft spot for Kraft
It boiling the macaroni in milk seems so weird
Although I do kind of get it. The starch from the pasta would act as a thickener
My kid came home from a friend’s house. We asked if he’d had a good time. He said he’d had this weird Mac and cheese and it wasn’t anything like mine and he was hungry as he couldn’t eat it. Turned out it was Kraft dinner 🤣 He was 5 and hadn’t had it before.
Your kid has excellent taste
They just made kd weird ngl you don't boil it in milk
coming from a Canadian. you boil it in water add a Lil butter add a little milk and then the cheese powder, and add ketchup if your a true candian but kd and real mac and cheese is like white people tacos and real tacos both are very different but both tacos
(real mac and cheese is superior tho)
I would share a photo of mine but I can't find a photo of it, looks like I might need to make some for dinner soon
But Some food spam from my camera role when I was looking
In order -cheese and onion tart, southwest wontons with a spicy mayo sauce, spicy lime tomato soup, strawberry jam filled vanilla cake practicing my Victorian style frosting, fish and chips and cranberry walnut cookies
The kd wasn’t made like that. A recipe I saw for Mac and cheese was made like that. I didn’t try it. I know how to make KD.
I make my white sauce in the microwave… takes me 5 mins. I can roux, but like you say, it takes a while.
A roux for bechamel is pretty simple, unlike gumbo, you don’t need it to brown to a certain point. It’s fine if you add flour once the butter melts or even have the butter melt in the microwave and add it to a warm pot if butter melting is the issue.
I usually warm up the cream a little and pour slowly so it integrates better, but it can be tricky until you’ve had some practice. It’s best to have it a bit more runny than the consistency you want to end with, as you pour the liquid in.
So, this is cheese udon; but somehow, it looks like chili oil noodles in this photo that was taken during hot sunny day (about 35 degrees Celsius in average of the temperature here). The rich & creamy cheese broth topped with chicken cutlets & corn kernels complements the simplicity of chewy udon noodles texture, creating a satisfying dish that appeals those who seeking a comforting & hearty meal. 🧀 🍜
That looks delicious!! I haven't had udon in so long.
I always eyeball it. Once you figure out what the roux is supposed to look like you don’t need to measure things
Yes, it is. You should try one when you have it.
Hot cocoa time! 😄
I wonder why hot cocoa seems to taste better in autumn ^^ The psychological aspect is strong ^^
in here there are only two season 😂, rainy or sunny. but sure hot chocolate tastes 1000 times better when the weather is cold
whose idea is this 🤣
It’s probably really helpful to those who struggle to crack eggs for one reason or another
I just had 3 chicken sandwhiches and im still hungry. where does it go? im like 5'0ft
Turns out its just a meme, but im curious if theres a Real one out there lol
Ugh, was going to make some vodka sauce and pasta, but the thought of doing all the prep work needed while I'm at low ebb for energy just really wears at me; I think I might prep some tonight, finish tomorrow and then cook
Breakfast before going back to the real world 🙃
Actually tastes alright
I'm glad it doesn't have charcoal like that one drink from a few years ago
Oh where is this? So I can travel there
POTATO 🙌 I love potato 💖 Looks super good Riley!
Thanks guys potato is life

I make fruit berry chocolate and risoles mayonnaise for a living (idk how you call risoles in english pardon me, I guess despite the western name, risoles is a local snack from Indonesia)
if you're in Jogja tho, hit me up you won't regret it 😎🤤🍫🍓🍇
waaaa looks yummy ✨
WANT
omw to jogja now xD
I’ll take the tea instead please!
I’m down to my last box and it’s not on sale right now so I have to go back to the Typhoo. (YT is very expensive in Canada!)
I was wanting to make Earl Grey tea, but I had Yorkshire here, so I made it with 8 bags of Yorkshire Tea steeped in the milk & cream, then mixed in to the custard/eggyolk/sugar (then brought up to a simmer again). In the end it tastes like a fantastic Japanese "Royal Milk Tea". Super happy how it came out 😄
That sounds really good. And much better than the flower stuff the Earl Grey would have made 🤣 (I hate earl grey!)
Dinner last night 😋
Making pan de muerto for tomorrow. ☠️🍞
Gumbo first time making it taste awesome
I'm into mixed plates these days. This one had spiced chickpeas, quinoa, yoghurt sauce, spiced goat cheese balls with hemp seeds, and various greens (with fig vinegar for the salad). All homemade but for the asparagus. I can't, for the life of me, cook an asparagus properly 🤣 They always turn out bitter...
Looks great👍. Just a tip if that's okay it's better to roast or grill the asparagus to help cut out the bitterness.
Thanks for the tip, I had never heard it. The only way I knew of cooking them was by boiling...
Another thing season it with lemon juice and minced garlic taste amazing
<@&909661844698972160> good gods it’s everywhere
It also best to Blanch asparagus for 1 -2 mins
removed
I like them with shallot, oil and vinegar 🙂
Question for the group: what to make for dinner tonight?
-Korean Bulgolgi
-Salmon Poke Bowl
🤔 I can't decide
Bulgogi!
That's what I'm thinking, yeah. Been having a lot of seafood lately
Theres never too much for seafood hehe xD
True true
We ended up making sesame chicken
Haven't tried it that way guess I'm doing that next time
Issan region style Hoi tat we made at the festival today
So, this is dorayaki, a Japanese two fluffy pancake-like layers filled with a sweet red bean paste called “anko” (but this one has chocolate filling instead). I love its soft spongy texture of usthe pancakes and the earthy sweetness that creates a balanced & delightful flavor. It’s a convenient snack for a quick & satisfying treat, easy to carry and enjoy on the go. Originally, I wanted to eat it the normal way, but I decided to add matcha ice cream topping because I needed something refreshing in this hot weather. I really love it as a comfort food for its simplicity and sweetness that can evoke feelings of comfort & warmth, also makes me feel like I’m visiting Japan again for nostalgia’s sake. 🧡🤎💚

Def a fellow mushroom lover like Ben 😭
Well, cooking mushrooms that is 😅

They were button mushrooms and it's a recipe from this subscription box called everyplace 🤭

The recipe is for the 2 or 4 servings (ex under mushrooms it says ( 1|2 ) the 1 mushroom package is 2 servings) and 2 packages for the 4 servings if that makes sense 😅 it's a little confusing lol
While waiting for the 1.0 release, I made myself a noodle.. and I call it blasphemy of gaga noodle 🤣🤣

Haaa I wish it would still be strawberry season where I live. Why can't it be strawberry season all year?
For me, fatcaron is how to describe "size matters" when it comes to desserts. Basically, it’s macaron but make it double. It’s still made of meringue, but with larger size and also more cream. It's not as sweet as a typical French macaron, because the fillings itself can be replaced with a variety of flavour-rich fillings, such as green tea or mint like these two I tasted, but it can still be enjoyed for most people who basically don’t like the taste of desserts that are too sweet for their palate. 💚 🧡
Açaí with granola and banana
I made Kimchi Jjigae with my homemade kimchi and a side of homemade danmuji!
healthy lacks fish today
I'm just here to let y'all know that sugar cookie pop tarts are BACK IN THE STORES
things I literally did not need to know and will likely act upon against my own self interest.
Some time ago, I tried a croissant with bubur sum sum (sweet coconut rice porridge from Indonesia, made from rice flour, topped with coconut milk and palm sugar syrup, flavored with screw pine leaves) flavour. So, it’s basically a croissant with pandan scent filled with bubur sum sum, served with additional palm sugar sauce separately. The taste itself was sweet, soft and crunchy at the same time, it’s delicious and success in spoiling my taste buds. 🥐🥥💚

Doin' a little dance cause I just got a bunch of stuff for thanksgiving and the days around it and oooooo we're gonna eat gooooooood
Family tradition says Mexican on Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and a lot of it, so I'm making carnitas. Thanksgiving itself is just 4 of us so no big turkey but I did find quail at the Asian market so it'll be honey glazed roast quail for the day of. The day after is my brother's birthday and tho he will not be with us cause he lives many hours away, I am making his favorite food in his honor so that'll be Pawley's Island filet on Friday.
(Now I think that's just my dad's name for it cause I've never been able to find it on Google, but that's a crab cake and hollandaise sauce on top of a filet mignon)
Made my first apple pie
Udon
I didn't have enough time to start from scratch, so I just bought prepackaged cookies and decorated it myself. It's jot great but I'm proud of how it turned out ☺

Sourdough boule, using starter that I got from a neighbor a couple months ago. I've tried a few different recipes, but this one lets the dough ferment overnight, giving it lots of little air pockets, and is baked in a Dutch oven so that the steam helps it rise and stay moist. It turned out really sour and fluffy and chewy with a nice crust.
.... soup........
Homemade beef stroganoff tonight.

Psst, does anyone have good recipe blogs (specifically ones that focus on one type of food ie Japanese, Greek, baking, etc)? I’m building a recipes Pinterest board and I really want lots of options. I have a lot of Japanese, Korean, and baked goods / desserts already, so I’m not looking for those.
Good evening, I'm Japanese.
I did a quick search for blogs about Japanese food recipes written in English.
This is a very carefully written page.
https://norecipes.com/recipe/cuisine/japanese-traditional/
I will also post the URLs of other sites I found.
https://english.asanoconsulting.com/category/recipes/
There are also non-Japanese dishes, so there are no detailed explanations, but
I found an English version of Cookpad, a cooking recipe site that is often used by Japanese people (families and ordinary people), so I'm posting it here as well.
https://cookpad.com/category/1776
Although the site is written in Japanese,
This site introduces books on Japanese cuisine written in English.
There's a URL on the site, so it might be a good idea to take a look.
https://ei-raku.com/2018/09/tadoku-cooking/
I just did a quick search,
I hope that some of this will be helpful ^^

This category contains recipes in English. These recipes should be useful to introduce Japanese recipes to your friends.
I’m so sorry, that’s actually not what I’m looking for! I used it as a general example - I have a lot of Japanese recipes, and I want to find recipes from different parts of the world.
I will look through these thoigh, thank you!
I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I'm not good at English, so I used a translation site, but it seems that it wasn't what Mr. Lion intended;;
I hope you get good information.
No need to apologize! I can still use these 🫡 more recipes is still good!!
are you looking only for blogs? Because I can write a few spanish recipes here from my own notebook if you want 🥰 (not paella though, for I'm not from Valencia and I would never dare to claim that I know how to cook it the exact right way haha)
I’d love to see those too actually! I mentioned blogs so I can look through myself / pin them but anything’s good!
Ok, here we go then! 🥰 I'll see if I have some photos too
Gazpacho (cold tomato soup, vegan)
Ingredients:
5 ripe tomatoes
1/2 scallion
1/2 green bell pepper
1 garlic clove
1/2 cucumber
olive oil
Wine or apple cider vinegar
Salt
Water (optional)
Instructions:
Blanch and peel the tomatoes and remove the seeds. Also peel the cucumber. Cut all the vegetables in pieces (about 3 cm approx) and put them in the blender with a little salt, vinegar, olive oil and a little water. Blend until you get a thick soup, if it is too thick add a little extra water. Correct salt, oil and vinegar until it is to your taste and serve in a bowl with diced vegetables to decorate, or croutons.
Tip: as raw garlic can be upsetting to the stomach, remove the germ before chopping. If you want a less "rustic", more refined result, you can use a strainer after blending.
Carne en salsa (meat in sauce)
Ingredients:
Lean pork 600 g
1 onion
4 cloves garlic
1 bay leaf
A glass of white wine
1 small carrot
Optional: Some aromatic herbs: thyme, oregano...
Salt, black pepper
Olive oil
Instructions:
Peel and cut the onions into strips and the garlic into slices. Peel the carrot and cut it into slices. In a casserole with hot oil (medium-low heat) put the onion, carrot and garlic and cook them slowly together with the bay leaf.
As soon as everything is tender add the meat cut into bite size pieces and sauté until it takes color and is well sealed.
Increase the heat, add the wine and let the alcohol evaporate. Add salt and pepper to taste, add the aromatic herbs and water to cover the meat. Then put the lid on the casserole and let the stew simmer until the meat is tender.
At the end it may be necessary to leave the casserole uncovered to reduce and concentrate the sauce a little.
Papas a lo pobre ("poor man's potatoes"?, vegan)
Ingredients:
1/2 glass of olive oil
2 or 3 potatoes, 400 g
1 onion
2 green peppers
2 garlic
Salt
**Instructions **
Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Peel the potatoes, wash them, cut them in half and cut them into thin slices. Cut the onion into rings and the peppers into strips. Crush the garlic with a knife and leave them whole with the skin. When the oil is hot, add all the ingredients (including salt), cover the pan and cook over medium-low heat for about 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are done. You will know they are done when some are starting to take on a nice browned appearance (these are the best).
Optional: after serving the potatoes, you can use the oil to make a fried egg, it is common in many homes.
Arroz con leche (rice pudding, vegetarian)
Ingredients:
200 grams of rice
1 liter of milk
100 grams of white sugar
1 lemon
2 or 3 cinnamon sticks
Star anise
Ground cinnamon
Instructions:
Put the milk in a pot. Add the cinnamon sticks, the star anise and the lemon peel (be careful not to get the white part of the lemon). Let it cook over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Then add the rice and turn the heat to low. Let it cook slowly for about 45-50 minutes, stirring from time to time so that it does not stick or burn (seriously, it is difficult not to burn it). When it is to your liking, thicker or more brothy, add the sugar and stir. Remove from the heat, remove the cinnamon stick, the aniseed and the lemon peel. Finish by distributing the rice pudding in individual bowls or on a large plate, and sprinkle ground cinnamon on top. You can serve it cold or warm, as you like.
Tortilla de patatas (spanish omelette
Ingredients:
4 potatoes
1 onion
5 eggs
1 glass of olive oil
Salt
Instructions:
Wash, peel and cut the potatoes into not too big pieces, about 5mm thick. Cut the onion into cubes and cook in a skillet at low heat until the potato is tender. Remove the potato and onion with a skimmer and reserve the oil. Beat the eggs well, salt and add the potatoes and onion. Put the oil back in the skillet and add the egg, potato and onion mixture. Cook at low heat for about 10 minutes until golden brown, then turn the omelet over with the help of a lid and let it fall on the other side into the skillet until it sets slowly. It should be golden brown on both sides. At home we eat it with tomatoes and a good cheese.
It takes practice to flip the omelette, it is not easy and be careful not to burn yourself! Maybe there are demonstration videos on youtube to help you :)
Aaaaand I think that's all for now, I have to work haha. But I will mention you if any other recipe comes to mind ^^
yess thank you these all look really good!!
Thank you for this

Balsamic vinegar salad, a from scratch tuna/corn/broccoli pasta bake and a good ol' glass of wine for dinner tonight.
Brioche. Each bun is filled with either prune cream or powidl (a mix of crushed poppy seeds, nuts, and orange peels).
Aaand first time I kinda succeed at making bread 😄 It can still improve (it spread out too much during the second growth), but it's not utter failure like all the previous ones 😄
First time made this "Salted and Spicy Popcorn" 😂 Its really good, like taichan satay but in popcorn style
Some time ago while on a night out, I went to one of the local food center there and tasted some of them, such as fried durian, carrot cake, mochi, and oyster omelette, which were really tasty and worth to try. Overall, I enjoyed this short culinary experience with its hustle & bustle and also the surprise element. I would like to come back again in the future. 💛 🧡
Pineapple upside down cake anyone? 😊🤗
That is coool~!!
such a simple cake but daymnn! sari roti/sari kue is a famous packed sweet bread/softcake brand in Indonesia. they're pretty cheap (altho price always goes up, inflation) but I never saw this variants so closely before.
decided not to buy it today, maybe later.
(the green soft cake is said to taste similar with klepon)
The best part about making barbecue is all the in between time I can use to game

Been a while since I’ve posted, so here’s some roast pork, fish and veggie stir fry, and spicy lotus root with rice.
My third time's a charm, I successfully made kimchi! ✨
||Previous two attempts were like licking a saltblock. 😅||
Yum lol
Love salt lol
(sarcastic)
Homemade fried chicken and not homemade fries
Only put the fries in the oven, actually fried the chicken ourselves
I want some fried chicken now 🤤

Didn’t realise we had one of those channels here, so hello! Here’s my first edition of “it’s never too late to learn how to cook” feat. my dumb self who only figured out how to kitchen in her 30s.
A selection of home-made apple pies, bread, a first and second attempt at chocolate cake with mirror glaze, Tuscan chicken with smashed baby potatoes/ratatouille and roasted tomato and basil soup, a smoked duck pizza, lasagnas and apple crumble.
This Friday’s surprise pre-Ramadan feast at the office for my fellow newspaper sub-editors will be two homemade pizzas (pepperoni and sun-dried tomatoes + mushroom), tiramisu and blueberry panna cotta. I’ll be posting updates for those as well eueb
i want to eat each meal.
the cake looks so delicious
Oh those all look amazing, but the strawberry one turned out particularly photogenic ✨👌🏻
Thank you 😊 they were yummy and I agree the strawberry one looks the prettiest.
Haha that’s a big honour! Part of me wishes I figured out the fun in cooking earlier in life, but I’m having fun now making up for lost time 👍🏼
Hope i can have fun cooking too, because at the moment its complicated (only pasta and cordon bleu…) your pics will help me for sure
Pre-Ramadan feast for my colleagues! Blueberry Panna Cotta, Tiramisu, a mushroom and capsicum pizza, and a pepperoni pizza.
All from scratch (including blueberry compote, pizza sauce and dough)
Beating the heat here with Mango and Dragonfruit. Weather sucks but drink good!

That is so cute! What flavor is it?
Just a plain cake with some strawberry jam to keep the layers together and the fondant on
That’s awesome. I made one for my kid (many years ago now!).
cute! happy birthday to your kiddoes!
Thanks, he had a great day! 😁
I stopped by an eatery that sells Dutch specialties and tried one of the menus there, Kapsalon. Of course, aside from being intrigued with the name (Kapsalon means hairdressing salon / barber shop in Dutch), I also curious about the taste too. When I tasted it the first time, I love the uniqueness and satisfying combination of flavours and textures that locals love; includes basmati rice, chicken meat, and a variety of toppings such as lettuce salad, garlic sauce and mayonnaise. I also love the story of its origin and feel like it’s a multiculturalism dish, combining many elements from multiple dishes around the world. If you enjoy dishes that offer a delightful blend of tastes, it’s definitely worth a try. 🍚 🥗 🍗
Pre-Ramadan feast with my siblings!
Lasagna and tiramisu by me.
Steak with pan fried asparagus and garlic by my brother (he’s SUPER GOOD at this)
Garlic soup by my little sister 💖
my first cheesecake, i was pretty proud
It looks wonderful for a first try!
Mushroom, leek and chicken stew + skillet dinner rolls for this week’s sahur meal prep.
Yum! I love mushrooms!
because I won't be home tomorrow to cook it (gotta work 😭) I made my St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage tonight. Holy cow, it was so good 🤤
I made a German sweet called Quarkbällchen (or Krapfen as the East Germans would say) today 🙌🏼
It's one of my absolute favourites and I almost always buy some at a bakery when I see they sell them for the day, so I tried it myself and considering that my boyfriend already snacked 5, I would say they taste good too 🤗
I made cupcakes for my soon to be 4 year old to take to preschool
I made torrijas today, a typical spanish sweet that we use to eat on Holy Week 🥰 It is slightly similar to a french toast
Family cookout again feat. roast veggies (sister-in-law), Tuscan Chicken (me), Zuppa di Mare (little brother) and Arancini (little sister).
Quarkbällchen sind das absolut Beste
Und für das erste Mal sehen die mega aus
I may be late but that chocolate cake Looks so banger
I want it so bad
Ayyyy thank you!! 💕
Dad requested minestrone soup and tiramisu for iftar today, and I obliged!
He pushed aside his roast chicken to my little sister so he could focus on the soup (eating in silence for several minutes), so I take that as a win for a first go at it 😄
Quickly becoming the family favorite dessert
Pineapple jam tarts cooling in anticipation of Eid!
My mum explained to me how labor-intensive it is to make your own pineapple jam and boy, I learned the hard way
Mackerel pasta
Eid spread! A night’s worth of work on chicken and beef rendang, nasi impit (‘pressed rice’), lemang (glutinous rice cooked in bamboo) and ketupat, lodeh (Surya’s favorite!) and butter cake!

these look absolutely delectable. Eid Mubarak to you and your fam
Roasted Cauliflower with rice and spicy Dahl sauce
Cauliflower is so underated and I'm happy seeing this, and this looks so delicious!
Made this delicious Käse-Sahne-Torte 🤤 (there is no English name for it, could maybe be a Creme-Cheesecake?)
It's a German cake that I've been loving since I was little and is one of my favourites 🙌🏼
It's not perfect and usually looks different, but I worked with what I had and the most important part is the creme anyway and that is definitely correct 🥰
One of my favorite cakes is Tiramisu and I love getting it at my favorite bakery on Saturdays, but I'm also really into baking esp cake decorating.. (I'm applying to a techs culinary program this fall semester, yippie!!) So I thought I'd try making Tiramisu..
My slices of cake are a little wide cause they were too hard to cut thinner and I didn't have 6 in pans, only 8 in, so I'll def be investing in new pans to get better more thin layers next time.
Praying it's good tho 😭🤞 this hoes got me into coffee now
Update: tried it and it's actually really good, will have to add more expresso next time... But sponge cake is so soft, so glad it turned out 💕💕
Try making a mayonnaise chocolate cake or a Mississippi mud cake they are great. They are my favorites behind a German chocolate cake.
Well unless there is a peanut butter cheese cake then I'm going for all three. The mayonnaise cake is super moist but not overly sweet.
🥰🤤
looks yummy
Had my workplace BFF and her family over for a visit yesterday!
The entirely home-made menu was lasagna, French onion soup with focaccia bread croutons and mozzarella cheese (Gruyère is WAY too pricey), blueberry panna cotta (I was waiting with bated breath till the end HOPING they would come out of their molds, they did with a little push!) and a sparkling strawberry mint cooler ✨👌🏼
Basically practice to see if I had it in me to prepare an entire three course meal, and the answer is yes, though I could have used a little more time to make a side for the lasagna haha
Kanom!
Plum cake x3
Made Brookies (Brownies + Cookies) for the first time today, very delicious 🤤
Definitely adding this to my recipe folder 🙌🏼

Seblak with chicken feet and rotini pasta. On a scale on 1-10 how angry would this make an Italian?
It's lunchtime and I happened to passed by a Turkish eatery near the neighborhood, so I decided to stop by to try the menu. I ended up trying the chicken kuşbaşılı pide, which is a flatbread dish served with chicken pieces on top. For me, I loved the combination of authentic and freshly-made flavors, especially the crunchiness of the bread and the savory chicken meat sprinkled with Turkish spices. After trying it, I should considered culinary travel in Turkey as one of my bucket list that I need to make it happen one day. 🫓 🍗 🫑
Hello fellow foodies!! Made filipino style spaghetti bolognese 😊 put this together with what stuff I had.. then took like four bites before realizing I forgot the cheese then added that but damage already done so this pic taken before I dug in would do. It doesn’t look very appetizing but trust me! It was G.O.O.D! The sauce has the sweet touch that is trademark of filipino spaghetti. My pinoy lola made this for me growing up.. green bell peppers would make this even more amazing but I had to make do. Hope you’re all having a great weekend so far 😊
Oh that looks TASTY ❤️
Made cheesecake today 🤤
did someone say CHEESE
Made some Lohikeitto soup for dinner today!
omg same!!!! i didn't get a picture tho :(

Posting a few things from my backlog as it’s been 4 months since I last shared anything here? Time sure flies sometimes. Anyway, first up is a spicy tuna rice bowl - seared tuna steak with spicy mayo.
Next is lentil soup with mixed greens.
And tonight I had fish and veggie stir fry with crispy garlic and fried rice.
Never go wrong with those. My mom always buys them around Christmas. My family isn't Latino in any sense, but when you live near San Antonio where Tex-Mex is a staple, you end up eating a lot of that kind of stuff lol.
Chicken Katsu Curry Rice - Low Budget Version Guys 😆
Doesn't look low budget at all 🤤
First time making mini pavlovas with strawberries and cream cheese frosting!
Hi everyone! Got some Tiyula Itum soup with a couple of smaller dishes such as piyanggang and kulma on the sides. Tiyula Itum is a soup made of charred coconut meat. 😋 Just thought of sharing my native dishes(Tausug/Suluk) from awhile back. ❤️
I made some Knorr cheesy pasta with honey chipotle chicken crispers
I made cherry kombucha!
Made loco moco (beef patty and gravy over rice, topped with a fried egg), with a side of slaw.
I want to ask since there are people from other countries as well in here, but does anyone have a good rum cake (or equivalent) recipe?
Supper time, everyone 🍻

Baked with love and a bit of anger, that's hilarious 🤣
The conchas look fabulous btw!! 💟
Reminded me of myself making these for last year's Easter with family, I ended up spending until ~3am the previous night making the sheets because they kept ripping
Needless to say I was NOT happy while making them 🥲
Well what if I don’t like Apple Jacks?

For anyone who wants to go into a sugar coma this weekend
Sure sorry been offline it's 3 squash ribboned cut 1 pound of small shrimp deveined and I use thai jasmine rice. For the shrimp I use Italian seasoning blend half a lemon squeezed and a tsp of salt. After everything is cooked I throw red Chile flakes for some spice and green onion. Cook the shrimp first then throw in the squash noodles add a bit of salt and herbs and use the other half of a lemon. This is my own recipe you can switch up the spices that you like.
Homemade lasagna
Yum!!

So, this is my weekend lunch, hampork tomato rice with poached egg on the top. I love its tender & well seasoned pork patty, also the rice was so fluffy. Perfect meal for the one fine day.

Arepas😌
I wish I could reply to this as a college baking student but we haven't started learning the recipes yet 😭😭 I hope someone replies w a recipe 🙏🙏
Just had a mooncake for the first time today! Not quite sure what type but it was super good! It cost over 5$ though, maybe it'll be in the special treat section of my diet, like the occasional crumble cookies.
Making a stuffed marrow for the first time. Messed it up a little I'm sure, I already have ideas on how to do it better if I find one again. This one is basically a shepherds pie stuffed marrow. Once it's done cooking I'll show the end result!
OH ITS GORGEOUS AND SMELLS SO GOOD
Check out the book "Flour Water Salt Yeast" by Ken Forkish, if you havent already! Got some great easy recipes for dutch oven!
Omg thank you so much!
sorry to bother you but do u have a recipe for this?
Aaa sorry I got this from a curry chain. Altho if you wanted to make Japanese curry at home, I use a Japanese curry roux. Golden Curry or Vermont Curry is what I usually get.
Ah kk. I'll try. Thank you!
Not a meal but.. one of my fave candies haha. Comes in edible paper!
Woaa it's been a while since i saw this
this is my favorite too!
Got excited when I saw it in the store.
Home made takuan/danmuji. I love me some pickled stuff
That looks great!!! My vice is chicken radish. I'm always a sucker for that stuff so I make it at home occasionally. My mom prefers danmuji though so I should try and make it for her sometime. I hope when I do mine looks as good as yours.
The turmeric did all the yellowing. 😄

No mention of it on the recipe I followed. Just fridge for overnight then eat.

My first week of college we made cookies for a week, 2nd was scones. I believe this upcoming week is artisan breads.
These scones didn't turn out as good as my others actually cause the strawberries were too moist 😞 but they were still good 🙏
