It's most likely the voice itself. Sadly as a result of needing to play around with pitch so much, it sounding robotic is sadly a consequence, hence why I tried to boost the high pass freq. in the (unfortunately vain) attempt that it could plausibly sound like just a bad mic :)

Best examples I can come up with is Spurt from Critical Role, but I can already do the voice but I plan to voice a whole colony for my players in two weeks, so I thought maybe something pitched up would help save my voice for the session

I know simply going into the pitch and upping it would work but I feel like that isn't good enough yknow? Like I'm not sure what other tricks to use to help make higher pitches sound more human/realistic. I can easily do monstrous voices with voicelab and irl but when it comes to more calmer voices I have trouble

Normally people voice them higher pitched, but their tones range from sharp and to the point to dull and snake like. It's all up to the DM and personally when I try to voice them I go for either my Spurt impression or something more in the snake range

Thank you for that. After playing with the PowerPitch for a bit I found the sweet spot at 58, Mix 100. I tend to do a lot of voice acting so this higher pitch is gonna save my throat for that part of my campaign, thank you!

Besides the new tech, with the old pitch you had to turn off the "Humanize" toggle for it to sound better for deeper voices. The "Game Over" or "Jigsaw" voice uses that and it's on point

No that's not it -- As much as I'd love to complain about these headphones -- the sound quality is fantastic. I mean I kind of see it as a trend too when reviewing these voices. Almost all of them are of someone or something with a helmet on.

I will however change the type of stereo output and see if that changes anything.

If you mean the presets/character themselves being mostly characters that wear a helmet, then sure, I mean so far that's the only excuse to add filters on top of your voice, since filters are like makeup, you can only layer on top of what already exists
There's new tech coming in the future that will help creating more realistic-sounding voices but never forget the principle of layers, you can't eliminate your own voice since that's the baseline

That's a fair point -- I wonder if you could though. We've learned how to cancel frequencies from outside of headphones to simulate noise reduction. I wonder if we could apply that same concept to help cancel out the original users voice.

there ARE ways to to do some really impressive things if you're not doing them live, but that will have to wait until the tech gets MUCH better. What I use runs on Google's Cloud machine, because it would just be way too slow on a normal home computer.; and even then it takes like a 5GB voice library and 3 seconds per a second of recording

The best tip I can give is, if you're going for a specific character voice, find videos of that character speaking and try to recreate it.

But voicemod is limited in what it can achieve on its own, depending on what you want, you will have to put on some kind of voice acting performance.

Some voices just require it.

usually when it sounds like its underwater its a problem with LowPass' settings.

try turning the mix down or frequency up.

also for the pitch, try changing PowerPitch
