Windows defender works effectively, so I wouldn't say all viruses.

Lots of viruses know how to bypass a lot of anti virus software.

I only use Windows Defender, usually more than safe just need to know what to look out for when downloading stuff and others have more advanced ways to detect certain types of viruses, so they're all different and there's no right anti-virus software.

For most people windows defender is perfectly fine.
